I have been eating at the Cypress Creek Cafe for years. Went yesterday for chicken fried chicken. We were seated very quickly. That's about all that was quick about the meal. We were told Lauren was our server. No Lauren, no Lauren, no Lauren. My friend had to get up and go to the bar to request that someone take our order. Still no Lauren. It was a good 20 minutes before she appeared and took our order. She seemed uninterested. May I add that there were only 3 other tables occupied and the only noise in the place was the other servers and bussers talking at the top of their lungs about their personal lives. I really just wanted a quiet calm dinner. We finally got our food, which was good as usual. I did request another vegetable other than the soggy, tough frozen corn on the cob they serve. I did get a different veggie, but was charged extra for it. Just have them hold the corn, it is disgusting. I also took home what is usually really good chocolate cake, only to find that it had been sitting there for quite a while and was state. What's going on Cypress????  Do I have to look for a different restaurant in Wimberley?

We were in Wimberley on a non-busy weekday.  There aren't a lot of option downtown where the shops are.  I wouldn't frequent this place in my own hometown, but it was what I expected in a small town like Wimberley.  The food was just Ok, but forgettable.  I had a turkey sandwich.  My husband had the special.  I'd give this place 3 stars given it delivered exactly what I expected, but the waiter was a real disappointment.  I had a question about a regular menu item and his answer was "I don't know...I'm new here."  Really?  Isn't it your job to know the menu whether your new or not?  And if you don't know, go find out!  This place stays in business because of the shops in the area, that's it.  You could do better with not a lot of effort or extra money.

As with a lot of other folks, we find ourselves in Wimberley during Market Days.  We have been to Cypress Creek on quite a few occasions.  They closed for a few years and I guess have reopened under new mgmt.   But I think the bar in back has always been open. Not sure.  Anyways, being a repeat customer, I've had my ups and downs with it.  Today was most def an up.

WIfey and I traded sandwich halves of a Texan Ribeye sandwich and the so-called Hill Country Hippie (grilled chicken) sandwich.

The ribeye was the "up" to die for.  Soft artisan bread, grilled onions, cheese, and very flavorful steak.  The chicken was good too, but had an overly-salty pesto marinade which distracted from the flavor.  Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries were so-so.

As far as the service goes, it was slow, but sheesh, show up on a market day, at lunch-time, and that's the way it is.  They couldn't have crammed more bustling wait staff in there.  I'm assuming it was the kitchen slowing things up, but it was worth the wait.  One of these days, I'm going to make my way up to Wimberley when half of Central Texas is somewhere else and give it a go.  I'll let you know.
