I have been eating at the Cypress Creek Cafe for years. Went yesterday for chicken fried chicken. We were seated very quickly. That's about all that was quick about the meal. We were told Lauren was our server. No Lauren, no Lauren, no Lauren. My friend had to get up and go to the bar to request that someone take our order. Still no Lauren. It was a good 20 minutes before she appeared and took our order. She seemed uninterested. May I add that there were only 3 other tables occupied and the only noise in the place was the other servers and bussers talking at the top of their lungs about their personal lives. I really just wanted a quiet calm dinner. We finally got our food, which was good as usual. I did request another vegetable other than the soggy, tough frozen corn on the cob they serve. I did get a different veggie, but was charged extra for it. Just have them hold the corn, it is disgusting. I also took home what is usually really good chocolate cake, only to find that it had been sitting there for quite a while and was state. What's going on Cypress????  Do I have to look for a different restaurant in Wimberley?

We were in Wimberley on a non-busy weekday.  There aren't a lot of option downtown where the shops are.  I wouldn't frequent this place in my own hometown, but it was what I expected in a small town like Wimberley.  The food was just Ok, but forgettable.  I had a turkey sandwich.  My husband had the special.  I'd give this place 3 stars given it delivered exactly what I expected, but the waiter was a real disappointment.  I had a question about a regular menu item and his answer was "I don't know...I'm new here."  Really?  Isn't it your job to know the menu whether your new or not?  And if you don't know, go find out!  This place stays in business because of the shops in the area, that's it.  You could do better with not a lot of effort or extra money.

As with a lot of other folks, we find ourselves in Wimberley during Market Days.  We have been to Cypress Creek on quite a few occasions.  They closed for a few years and I guess have reopened under new mgmt.   But I think the bar in back has always been open. Not sure.  Anyways, being a repeat customer, I've had my ups and downs with it.  Today was most def an up.

WIfey and I traded sandwich halves of a Texan Ribeye sandwich and the so-called Hill Country Hippie (grilled chicken) sandwich.

The ribeye was the "up" to die for.  Soft artisan bread, grilled onions, cheese, and very flavorful steak.  The chicken was good too, but had an overly-salty pesto marinade which distracted from the flavor.  Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries were so-so.

As far as the service goes, it was slow, but sheesh, show up on a market day, at lunch-time, and that's the way it is.  They couldn't have crammed more bustling wait staff in there.  I'm assuming it was the kitchen slowing things up, but it was worth the wait.  One of these days, I'm going to make my way up to Wimberley when half of Central Texas is somewhere else and give it a go.  I'll let you know.

I've lived in Wimberley going on 6 years.  When we first moved here this place was open with other owners.  It wasn't very good.  It went out of business for a few years and came back in it's current form I guess.

I've been about 3 times with my family and it has to be absolutely slowest and awful service in the entire area.  Perhaps if the food was great, it would be worth the wait?  Sadly that's not the case either.

On the bright side, the back bar is nice... especially the outdoor area. (Hense the 2nd star)  But even that can get filled with some low-life drunks from time-to-time... not exactly my cup-o-tea.

That said, I hate for any Wimberley place to go out of business.  Hopefully they improve.

Ambiance ambiance ambiance, Cypress Creek Cafe has plenty of it well..... the back side of it does. The front looks like a retirement home. The fun starts as soon as you step out into the patio. The food is average bar food. I tried the turkey bacon avocado sandwhich on herb bread. It's was good, the sweet potato french fries were cold bummer! Cool spot to chill and have some drinks for sure!

Slow service!! Ordered frog legs as an appetizer, first bite we discovered they were not fully cooked. GAG!!!!
Really wanted it to be fantastic with the new owners. Tried it twice, once at lunch, once at dinner. Both times the service was horrible and they weren't even busy.
The Buzzard Bar in the back is always fun though. ALWAYS have a great time!!
Which does remind me, I've gotten food in the bar before. The cheesy dip with all the stuff in it (can't remember the menu name) is fantastic!

Had an early lunch on Sunday before the church crowd hit. Had the Devils Backbone omelet which was delicious. Good value for money considering the omelet comes with a side, bread (biscuit/toast/tortilla) and bacon/sausage. My mum had the Southwest omelet which we wouldn't recommend, grew up on spicy food but the salsa was 100% jalapenos. Coffee was good and strong. Would come again for breakfast and willing to try lunch/dinner.

    Horrible experience.
Each year my wine group (10 of us) travels to Wimberly to stay for a weekend. This was our fifth year, each year we try a new place to eat. As always we call for Reservations as we have a big group. We called several days before to reserve a table and they called back to confirm our reservations. Well upon arrival we learned that we did not have a reservation and that they don't make them on this particular night. We explained that someone had not only taken our rsvp but also had called back several days before to confirm it. We asked to speak to the mgr and she was defensive and pretty rude saying that it was impossible that we made the reservations. I'm sorry was I missing something. She didn't even apologize. We should have left then but ended up waiting for a table to open. My food I sent back (salmon) way over cooked and horrible. The others thought the food was ok. There are many better choices in the area to eat. On a good note our waiter I believe his name was Nathan was absolutely fantastic. He didn't mess a thing up. In fact I'm not sure in all my years of fine dining that I've had a better waiter. Well done.

We went here for breakfast and it was ok. It was nothing that I crave and would make the drive just to eat here again. It was a basic breakfast with great flavor. If your driving through the area this is a great place to stop in at. There was no wait unlike the restaurant next to them that had an hour wait. The service was good and so was the coffee.

Another couple and my husband and I had tickets to a play in Wimberley and wanted to have dinner in Wimberley beforehand. After a bit of research we decided on this "cafe" -- a term I use lightly as the main thing they are supposed to excel at, the food, was severely lacking.

I had the salmon, lime rice and mixed vegetables. The salmon was under cooked and served with a microwaved sauce on the side, the rice lacked seasoning and was dry and the mixed vegetables were FROZEN generic vegetables from a bag. You know the ones: serrated carrots all uniformly shaped, soggy pea pods, etc. And for the price point of $17.99 a total waste of money.

Our friends ordered the hamburgers, which were frozen, uniformly shaped patties that lacked seasoning. They had received a lot of good reviews on their burgers so we were really expecting something special and instead received mediocre at best.

Our waitress was out on a smoke break most of the dinner so we had several different waitresses coming by to check on us. I am always so surprised when you go somewhere to eat and the main thing you are there for -- the food -- is disgusting. The only shining light at this place is they have a bar in the back with really good bartenders and good drinks. So after you're disgusted with your meal, you can sneak through the back door and numb your bad experience with a couple cocktails.

Cypress Creek is our "go to" hang out when we stay in Wimberley. Our waitress is always patient and attentive and we have enjoyed all of the different entrees ordered. My husband enjoys their wings, my sister in law says the fish and chips were yummy, I think the Cobb salad is delicious with their homemade blue cheese dressing and last night my girlfriend had the tortilla soup and said it was great! We also like their wine list. We always sit out back and enjoy the patio. If smokers were banned I would give this place a five. Casual and friendly with comfort food that hits the spot.

This is definitely one of those places where you go and you know what to expect.

I went here, because my boyfriend and I were staying at a local B&B and we wanted to get some grub.  We walked to the restaurant from the place we were staying.  The front definitely reflects a cafe.  We went to the back bar, because WC Clark was playing there.  We paid $10 each to see him, which was kind of a bummer, because we were eating there anyways.  But it was a small price to pay to support a blues legend.

You can tell this place is probably the local hot spot.  People were dancing and drinking.  Everyone there looked like they were having a good time.  The waitress was very friendly.   We ordered our food, which hit the spot.  We were pretty hungry from wine tasting all day.  We had queso to start, which is usually hard to screw up, so, needless to say, it was tasty. The pulled pork sandwich was great and my boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich a lot as well.

We got a few more cocktails and danced a bit.  It was an inviting crowd and we certainly weren't expecting fine dining, when we walked through the door.  It's a fun local spot.  I'm not familiar with a lot of what the night life is like in Wimberly, but this place was entertaining for sure.

Very upset that at the restaurant they charge $2.00 more for the same drink than in the bar. If you order drinks in the restaurant the waitstaff autmatically get you top shelf drinks and charge you the most. I complained about this and got the manager to get round of free drinks. 3 out of four visits their frozen margarita machine was broken. The service is terrible. The waitstaff are slow and do not check on you regularly to see if you need tea refills or a new alcoholic drink.

The Wimberley Cafe across the way was crowded, disorganized and we couldn't tell if they accepted credit. So we came over here. No one in the place but not sure why as the breakfast was great. Fluffy biscuit, creamy grits, crispy bacon, eggs made to order. Hubby liked his breakfast tavos  Yum!  Servers were all very accommodating.

Stopped in here because the service at Wimberley Cafe was not quite up to par. Another disappointing food choice in Wimberley for breakfast. When the order arrived they didn't even know what the original order was, but said it was what we ordered. It was returned to the kitchen and reappeared shortly, still wrong. I ordered one thing and got another. What I received was less that appealing and was so far off that it basically ruined breakfast. At least I got to eat the slice of toast, which was the only thing right on the order (8 bucks for a slice of bread).

Will not return for breakfast again.... and dinner will be only as a last resort.

if you like waiting over 40 minutes for your food, this is the place
if you like your chicken fried steak huge with 95% breading/5% steak, this is the place
if you like your mushroom gravy salty, this is the place
if you like watching your empty cup of ice for 20 minutes, this is the place

to be fair, the gravy that came with the chicken fried steak was delicious and the pulled pork sandwich my boyfriend ate was pretty dang good...i ordered the hunter's schnitzel - pork was dry, mushroom gravy crazy salty ;p

here's to trying another place the next time we find ourselves in wimberley tx! yes!

We were with of group of five people and everyone's meals were delicious. The Chicken Fried Steak was a hit. The Texas Cobb Salad was large and very good. The only issue as the service was slow. It was lunch time and did not seem very crowded. Once the food arrived, it was worth the wait.

I own the Devils Breath sauce! I challenge myself every time I come here. The food is perfect! Fries are a little tasteless but I don't go there for potatoes. I go there or their BLT and their burgers! AND REMEMBER, EAT THE DEVILS BREATH ONLY IF YOU THINK YOUR BETTER THAN ME! I AM THE DEVILS BREATH MASTER!

This place for food is a complete disappointment!  I told the manager that the food was inedible and she did not even attempt to make up for it.  NEVER EAT HERE!  The bands are good but service is slow in the bar too and the drinks are watery.  I guess the owner does not care since it is the only bar in town.

My date's Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes was outstanding. He's a fan of a thinner cut of steak for CFS, so this was great for him. He had both the pink and regular lemonade and liked them both.

My side salad, black beans, and vegetable of the day were all outstanding. The iced tea was fabulous...they must have good water, here!

    Service was prompt and thorough.

Wimberley is a charming town and enjoyable for leisurely spending an afternoon. This is just ok - service, food - but better than the Wimberley cafe. Water in Wimberley has a poor taste, so recommend ordering a flavored drink.

I wish I could give them zero stars.  I went in with my mom, and we sat there for 20 minutes after being seated with iced tea before a waitress got around to taking our order.  And there were only three other tables and 6 or 7 waiters working.  Forty-five minutes later, when no food had arrived and no one had spoken to us again, there were around 12 tables full and everyone else had food.  And all we'd ordered was sandwiches.  We left $5 on the table and went elsewhere.

My one-star review is really for the Buzzard Bar out back of the Cypress Creek Cafe.  We actually had a pretty good meal inside the restaurant, so we were excited to check out some live music after our dinner. The waiter even encouraged us to do so.

First we sat on the patio. No service for 15 minutes so my hubby walked inside to the bar for our drinks.  No big deal, we thought, they're just really busy.

We decided after a little while to find a table inside thinking SURELY we'd get some service in there. Wrong. No service inside either.

In fact, we sat inside for over an hour with ZERO service, not even a "hello".  It became almost entertaining to watch the waitresses service the tables to our left, to our right, and ALL around us, just not our particular table.

I can't say for sure why we were ignored by EVERY waitress working on the evening of Saturday, July 2nd around 10pm.  Were we too young? Too Dallas-looking? Or maybe the restaurant just put invisible powder in our food?  Very interesting social experiment, nonetheless. :)

Holy Santa Claus Sh*t!! You guys have got to order the Texas Burger... AMAZING!! My wife the soup of the day which was Gazpacho and she absolutely loved it. The serving sizes are ginormous !! Excellent tasting food and would highly recommend it.. But get here before the dinner crowd at 7, it gets packed. We arrived about 5:30 and by 6, people were flocking in.. Hope this helps =)

Two stars is generous for this place.

My mother, sister, her friend, and I all went into Cypress Creek Cafe for lunch on a weekday. It was very slow; only one or two other tables had been seated. There appeared to be one waitress working, but with so few tables that shouldn't have been an issue.

We ordered a BLT, a pulled pork sandwich, and two club sandwiches. Three sandwiches came with regular fries, mine with sweet potato fries. It took so long to get our sandwiches that I was tempted to leave. There was nothing that needed to be cooked other than the fries. When the sandwiches finally came out the food was cold. The waitress never apologized or told us what was keeping the food so long; in fact she told us our food was "coming right out" and yet we continued to wait.

The food was okay. It's hard to mess up a BLT. The sweet potato fries were not good. They had a very strange consistency. My mom complained her bbq sandwich needed more barbeque sauce. My sister and her friend enjoyed their clubs, which were very large.

My sister also ordered their bread pudding dessert. I took one bite and was not impressed. It tasted like a poorly done french toast.

I would not recommend Cypress Creek cafe unless you have very picky eaters, such as young children, in your group who will only eat something like a plain sandwich. and fries. Just be prepared to wait a long time, even for Wimberley standards.

    I'd suggest Kate's or Linda's instead!

After seeing that this restaurant was #1 on Trip Advisor we decided to have lunch here and then do some window shopping at all the boutique shops. Started with the 3 cheese queso dip with seasoned tortilla chips which were very tasty.

We had the sourdough patty melt 1/2 pound Angus burger and the Hippie Chicken sandwich both with sweet potato fries. Our waitress Denise was great. Total bill was only $23 which was a good value. They are known for their chicken fried steak which we will probably have next time when we are back in Wimberley.... Steve & Gloria

Went here on Saturday after a long day of shopping, drinking, and meandering around the arts festival.  It was air conditioned, had a full bar, and the waiter was very good.

We shared a fried pickle appetizer, which came with a dill dipping sauce.  It was very nummy.

The patty melt & fries were nothing special, but then I don't go to cafes in Central Texas for special patty melts.  I got what I expected, and it was quite sufficient.

Again - the service was very good.  I'll go back.

Stopped in for lunch the other day and we were greeted right away. We were allowed to pick our own table (which I always appreciate), and the server was responsive and very helpful. Both my wife and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was awesome! Large portion, plus a side of sweet potato fries. A little heavy for lunch, but if you're on vacation or passing through, well worth it.

So far so good.  There is some room for improvement because they are just newly re-opened.  The chicken fried steak is the real deal!  I haven't ventured out too far on the menu yet because I have heard a few negative things from friends, but hey, I'm happy - I have a good chicken fried right here in Wimberley!

If you look at the time between the reviews this place had been closed and recently reopened. We all know Wimberley isn't in the Yelping capital of the world and who can keep track of a place that has failed half a dozen times. CCC used to be really good; then really bad like asking a table of 5 to split two dinner rolls; then sorta mediocre and then closed and reopened again.

The doors had been shut for roughly 2 years this time. A few weeks ago I heard a rumor that someone had taken it over and they were open yet again. I also heard that friends had visited and the burger was agreeable. The entire Rooster clan visited this evening to see if it had any promise.

My pizza was so heavy on the toppings the crust collapsed. I really hate when all the ingredients just slide right off onto the plate. Bacon, crab, mushrooms, goat cheese, tomato, and gouda turned out a great amount of flavor. The crust was tasty as well; just wish it had a bit more crisp to hold it all together. Mom's chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley won her approval.

Dad wasn't that impressed with the burger. I'm calling an old fashion foul if there is such a thing. Dad is 77, so anything out of the ordinary is different and therefore strange. For instance the bread and butter pickles served with the classic burger. A twist on the traditional; yet those flavors have never won me over. I've probably had the best B&B pickles on the planet thanks to my country canning everything childhood. Just not a flavor profile I look for. The burger was also highly charred on the outside while being medium well on the inside. The cooks should slow down the fire on the grill so it doesn't look like you used an afterburner as a cooking technique.

The wife's patty melt really left us shaking our head for an explanation. Dad got a 1/2 lb patty on his burger just as the menu described. Jenny got two lesser heavy patties thrown together to make the 1/2 lb description. I've seen two patties with a stuffing before; this didn't appear to be the case and the flavor wasn't that good. The fries on dad's burger, little Rooster's grilled cheese, and the wife's melt were served cold. Some redemption for the decent curry aoli.

Service was OK but could have been better. The waitress forgot my moms beer long enough that when we reminded her she came back only to say that they had ran out of that brand. She did keep the drinks filled so there was some good points. Not the worst meal I've ever had just a little below the expected average. Maybe another couple of months to work the kinks out and we'll try another round at CCC.

I may be way off base but the local rumour mill has it that Willie Nelson is interested.  If I'm wrong, sorry for being a shit.  If I'm right sorry to Willie for all the commotion.  Seems he likes the idea that when he's in our parts he gets a wave or a nod/smile... not insanity.

the CCC now lives only in the hearts and minds of its patrons, but while it was in business, it was a true gem of the hillcountry watering holes..

since the food has already been praised, i will just talk about the bar/ live music venue.

It could be described as a cozy listening room, with solid wood construction and a dark, candle-lit ambiance.. On any given night you could hear a legendary texas singer-songwriter or a classic rock band.. or reggea band..but the texas troubador thing was most common..

the acoustics of the room were second to none.  with a large dancefloor in front,  there was always the chance for a boogie down once the patrons got a little drunk..  the contigent of regulars were easy to get along with and fun to talk to and I have many friends to the this day that I first met there.

shout out to Jeff Hogan, musician and sound man who booked my band, Groovin Ground, there many times..we used to do our psychedelic rock/funk on wednesday nights and, on occasion,  we were accompanied by local fire spinners on the outside patio..

I also have fond memories of the great Peter Rowan, who played a few magical shows there himself.

    RIP Cypress Creek Cafe!

Whenever passing through or near Wimberly I always plan to stop here.  Cypress Creek Cafe or CCC serves up Southern Home Cooking with some Italian and Southwestern flair and many healthy vegetarian options.

The Appetizers include Nachos, Quesadillas (including an Italian Style with ricotto cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and black olives), Southwestern Egg Rolls (chicken, black beans, corn, red bell pepper and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep fried) served with jalapeno Ranch dressing.  Can I get an Amen for these amazing Egg Rolls? They are purely sinful and delicious on my tongue! Amen!

They offer a good selection of burgers and sandwiches with several vegetarian options.  None of which I have tried but many sound good for a future visit.

On my most recent visit with two friends I had the Southern Fried Catfish with 2 sides (I chose black beans and mashed potatoes)  and tried my friends Chicken Fried Steak and my other friends Spinach Lasagna all were very good and a full 5 stars!

I highly recommend a stop here if you find yourself in Wimberly, Texas.

The Cypress Creek Cafe has an identity problem of the right kind.  It's modest, country cafe interior is spotted with Rothko prints.  The menu reflects as much with its range of dishes from Chicken Fried Steak to Grilled Tofu.  And vegetarians take heart - the veg fair isn't just a second class citizen on the menu; It's tasty!  They've featured homemade Tempeh in the past, are willing to make substitutions to make it vegan and our waitress said that a menu overhaul was due soon that would make the place more health-food focused.  (Apparently one of the owners is a raw vegan.)  This is a great place to stop while exploring the Texas Hill Country for those groups have mixed diet preferences.
