Great atmosphere. Home town hospitality. Went with a group of 6 men. We all left full. Portions are great AND they throw in spaghetti with you meal.
I had the bite sized steak and shrimp with onion rings. It was all delicious. Also tried the Pepper steak - it was definitely peppery - Not for the faint of heart! The Prime Rib "normal" portion was HUGE and cooked to perfection.
I would definitely recommend BoJacks if you are in Clarkston. I will be back.
The best place I've found in North Central Idaho for a steak. I think I'd really give it a 4.5, but it is currently rated as 3.5 so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Location is odd, the basement of a seedy, smokey bar. Soldier through that and go right downstairs. I've had the peppered steak which was good and steak with prawns which was even better. Entree comes with a side of spaghetti, which is decent and adds something unique to the place. The mini loaves of bread with thick butter is quite good too. More than enough food for a big appetite like mine and to even take some home for another meal or snack. I'd definitely give it try if you're in or near Lewiston.
Review Source:After noticing the red devil on the door and hearing the drunken chatter from within, he wondered if he was heading for trouble. The enamel words "the broiler pit" suggested that he may need to work his way through the crowded bar and into the basement. He did so, with a girlfriend and her mother following him.
The basement is a great contrast to upstairs ruckus filled bar. This subterranean diner was peaceful and reserved. He sat down with his girlfriend and mother for a delightful meal of bite sized steak. It is a meal consisting of bite sized portions of steak that have been deep fat fried.
In addition to the steak, the waitress mixed and served a spaghetti. Each guest received a portion. The waitress looked pained to be stuck with the task. The man and his girlfriend felt sorry for her.
To relieve the stress of meeting his girlfriend's mother for the first time, the man began drinking pints of Budweiser beer.
They chatted and together they left Bojack's Broiler Pit with fine portions of steak for his girlfriends dog.
All were happy.
I've dined here twice now, once in October 2010 and then again this last week.
Both times the steaks were prepared perfectly. Â Portions are generous and the bar upstairs is friendly and has a great staff.
Not much that I've found in the Clarkston/Lewiston area but every time I come to town I'll be eating at Bo Jack's!
The bar that you have to go through to get to this place is a a total dive and I'm not sure I'll ever understand why they chose to put one of the best Prime Rib spots in the NW in the basement of a bar.
That said, this place is amazing; hands down, the best Prime Rib I've ever had, and the French Onion soup is to die for.
Carnivores unite! Â To get to this restaurant you have to go through a bar on the upper floor, then use the stairs to get down to the restaurant. Â While that's a bit weird, it's worth it for the food. Â The steaks are exactly that: Â made exactly how you like them with all the trimmings. Â And the prices are really reasonable. Â Expect to see locals wearing cowboy boots and jeans. Â You will feel out of place if you dress up. Â Avg price per plate is around $18 and another few bucks for a beer. Â The place opens at 6pm Wed-Sat. Â Fri and Sat nights are just plain crazy, but the food's still good.
Review Source:For years this has been considered one of the finer dining establishments in the Valley. Â If I could rate this on customer service alone, this would be a 5-star establishment; but I've got to include the food.
I ordered the grilled halibut which was very dry and appeared to have been frozen only moments before. The French onion soup here has also evolved from what it once was. What I got was a bowl of soup with a glob of cheese in the bottom of the bowl with croutons floating on top. The dinner salad was iceberg lettuce topped with croutons. My dining partner ordered the bite-sized steak medium rare and got them medium well. The steak could be Bo Jacks specialty because our neighbors ordered steaks, and they looked amazing. The wine list is short and the well drinks are strong. The service is amazing.
Being from the area, I understand how Bo Jacks is regarded by the locals. And I understand that having deep-fried bite-sized steak is normal and representative of the area. I'd just prefer something a little lighter. Folks with an affinity to gravy and fried foods will like this place. And that's all I have to say about that.
