Thank you fellow yelpers for sending me here.  Me and my buddies were on our way back to Park city from a fishing trip on the Green river when we did a search for a good steak and this place came up.  Odd name, odd decor, great service and quality food.  Do heed the warnings on the steak sizes.  The petite is more than enough for the average person. If you are passing through Evanston, stop in, you will be glad you did.

I never would have even walked into this place had I not seen it on Yelp and read the other reviews. From the outside it really doesn't look that great; it looks pretty crummy from the inside too now that I mention it.  And a name like "Bon Rico Supper Club?" Kind of weird.

Once I started eating the different courses of the meal I was fairly impressed however. It started with a plate of cold veggies; asparagus, carrots, radishes, celery, olives, etc. Then there was the French Onion soup, followed by the salad and the fresh bread. All of it was decently good. When my ribeye arrived, I really wished I had taken the advice of the other Yelpers on here and ordered the Petite ribeye. I ordered the regular one and it was literally two inches thick! Huge! I have a big appetite and still couldn't eat more than half of it!

While the atmosphere wasn't the greatest, the service was good and the food was better than I expected. I definitely recommend this place, and will eat here again next time I am in Evanston!  (Be aware, they close at 8PM every night apparently.)

Just remember: ORDER THE PETITE STEAK! :)

Great juicy steak and good deal for your money.  I heard about this place from the local people while in town for business.  The outside doesn't look appealing but great steak.  French onion soup was ok.  Don't use the restroom if you don't really need to go.

Ok, so if you are judging a restaurant by its restrooms, this place would bottom out.  So let's just look at the food.  The prices seemed a little steep at first, so we asked the waiter/cook?/owner? what he recommended.  He replied, "any of the steaks".  So we obliged.  Going with the regular cut, as opposed to the girly petite cut, or the country cut, I figured it would be about right.  Let me say I was pleasantly surprised with the french onion soup, the salad, and the homemade bread, but when they brought the steak out, my jaw hit the floor.  The regular cut looked like it would feed my entire family, with leftovers.  Tasty, tasty, tasty.  Their steaks are fabulous, and with what you get for the money, very much worth it.  If you are ever passing through Evanston, I recommend this place, absolutely.

The place wasn't open from Thursday to Sunday when we were there.  One local said "they open when they feel like it."

We happened upon Bon Rico after quickly reading the Yelp reviews as we arrived in Evanston, hungry and tired. We left smiling, very full after eating some of the largest steaks for the money we had ever seen.

The french onion soup was satisfing and the salad was ok. I would rate this 3.5 stars for the sheer size of the "petite" filet that arrived on my plate. We are used to a petite being a 6 oz. piece of meat but what I was looking at was more like 16 oz!  Another at our table ordered a light meal, which consisted of a salad and a ribeye. The salad and steak arrived on separate plates. The salad covered the entire plate but the steak looked like a small roast hanging over the sides of the plate. We thought this might be a mistake and questioned the waiter if this was indeed the "light meal". All steaks were hearty but on the ordinary side. The filet's were wrapped in a subpar slice of bacon that really didn't look appetizing in our leftover box.

Would we try Bon Rico again on our next trip to Evanston? You betcha. If you're hungry and in the mood for red meat at a very resonable price, this is the place.

The salad, the soup, the bread, the crudites  (ie. veggie plate with dip) are nothing special, but the steaks are amazing.  I had the petite rib-eye which must have been 18 oz. ($19.95)

The steaks are cut in the kitchen, and cooked perfectly. Medium rare is medium rare.  My husband had the filet mignon, which is wrapped in bacon, and tastes like beef, if beef melted like butter in your mouth.  These steaks would cost 5 times the price in Denver or Chicago or NYC. If you're a vegan or vegetarian, why are you in Wyoming in the first place?

The place isn't particularly decorated in any style and the service is well-meaning if hurried, but it's a great place in a small town.

Stroll across the street to the Joss House museum, or take the River Walk, if you can move after these delicious steaks.

I wasn't impressed.  Went for lunch, ordered the special, a sort of Italian sausage on a bun, fries, salad.  Waitress was good but delivery of the main dish was very slow. Salad was very good, larger than expected, with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and a decent blue cheese dressing.  Sausage was sort of mealy and plain, with melted cheese on an under-toasted bun and some grilled veggies on top.  Fries looked good, whole potato cut, but were limp and airy.  Probably sitting around too long in a warmer pan.  I always wonder why there aren't better restaurants in the little towns where 50,000 cars a day go by.  Maybe the talented cooks don't want the small town life.  Maybe the other reviews are more the normal - order beef.

Great steak house. I had the buffalo steak. It was awesome. The portions are very large. Also you get soup/salad/bread and pickeled vegetables. The wait staff were friendly.  The price was very fair for all the food we got.

This must be the local favorite in the small downtown area of Evanston. I happened to stop by this town and after walking around for a little bit, this restaurant seemed like the winner. The hostess asked if we had reservation, which we did not, but we were seated nonetheless.

The meal started with their version of vegetarian charcuterie with dip. (Yes I know charcuterie is meat but I didn't know what else to call this. I mean it was too big to be amuse bush) All the veggies were fresh and delicious. The meals came with French onion soup and salad which wasn't bad but also definitely not the finest. I had the veal chop which was so tender and juicy and my brother had prime rib. The prime rib was big enough to feed a family of four, impossible to finish but it was fun watching my brother try...

The bill came out to $44 with tax around $2. We felt like we were robbing them because it was so cheap. With fresh meat, produce and great service, I'm sure they can demand more..... So my brother just left $60.
I will definitely come back here.
