Good things come is small packages. This bar is hidden and small but has big atmosphere. They serve the mini beers but you can buy them in buckets. They always have sweet specials. They have a small menu but it's simple and good. Anyone can come here, they play pink rock type music but everyone seems to have a good time. Finding a seat is hard because there is one table and a 20 or so seat bar but everyone kind of mingles. Cash only so hit the ATM before you come.
Review Source:I discovered this gem a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love. The sweet potato tater tots are incredible. Their drinks are cheap and the crowd is unassumingly kind and laid back. I love sitting outside on the benches where people are free to bring their pups. I can't say enough good things about this great spot!
Review Source:Bond Street Bar is an unassuming little place that gets it right. A good selection of beers, and the usual lineup of cocktails. A simple bar menu, anchored by an interesting variety of burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, is rounded out by a vegan bean salad. Food is served in baskets and is cheaper than almost anywhere else. It's also a lot better than you'd expect. This little bar serves up a game that many bigger and fancier places only advertise. The staff is solid, and in the tradition of great bars, they are part of the show. Oh, and this place has cheap prices!
After work Bond Street is a neighborhood spot. Weekends get busy and weekend nights bring a crowd and can get a little rambunctious. They just remodeled the little side yard (beer garden seems too fancy a term here) with a huge built in bench, tables and drink rail, using recycled crates and wood. Legendary local artist Porkchop even painted one of his large, amazing murals to dress it up!
I actually want to give this bar 1 star so no one will go there accept me and my friends. Â This is where I go when I don't want to deal with any bullshit. I just want awesome bar food cold draft beer and I don't want to give a fuck about what i'm wearing what I'm saying and just relax... and by that I mean play beer pong outside and drink $2 miller lite drafts till I get sleepy from the burger and fried pickles I just ate. Â I mean thats a relaxing wednesday afternoon for me. If that's ur thing this is ur place.......I mean no no no this isn't ur place don't go here....jk
Review Source:This is the bar in the episode of "Always Sunny" with the hipsters and no sign out front!
I had a blast there! Â The bar food was great, and I put on my best hipster facade and ordered a few PBR's. Â You know, the industrial blue collar working man's beer! Â I met up with a few friends here, and I am not sure that they had as good a time as I did, but the hipster crowd makes me comfortable, so I made the best of it.
We left however when "movie night" started. Â The whole bar got quiet and started watching "The Hangover 2." Â I was there to catch up with friends, so we had to leave behind our mason jars and PBR's and move on for the night.
Definitely a great place to hang out.
Thank goodness for Yelp!
I would not have found this place otherwise. There's no way I would have went in to the Bond Street Bar if I hadn't read these reviews, and it met all expectations. My wife and I needed somewhere to go before a show at the Wonder Bar, get a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. Bond Street Bar was perfect.
For it's size, this is close to the perfect bar. Quirky, unpretentious, a place to talk to strangers. Best value anywhere. Just enough high quality beer offerings, crazy art collage on the bar, and shuffleboard. I will definitely be back. Where else could I go for a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches?
Bond Street "is what it is" and it "does what it does" really well.
My first time eating here was last week and for a bar the food was actually good. Â I was pleased to see cabbage in my fish tacos, as opposed to iceberg lettuce. The pulled pork was standard but good. Fried pickles were...well...fried pickles. Got the pork roll fries(Taylor ham) ...more of a novelty. Edible, don't get me wrong but it was fried Taylor ham with BBQ sauce. Simple, decent but maybe serve it with a hollandaise, play on the Taylor ham and egg thin, something. Â Steak fries were actually very good. Needed salt but well cooked. I'd definitely return. I like the beer and mason jars and shots in mini mason jars. It's a fine line serving drinks in unconventional vessels but this one works.
And to top it off, the second I walked in tool was playing on the stereo...can't beat that.
Good things come in small packages.
Yes, I'm talking about you Bond Street Bar. You don't occupy a massive space, you have limited seating, you don't have a ton of beers and your menu is a one-page laminate. Regardless, I loved this place on my first visit.
$5 burgers & grilled cheese sandwiches: check
$3 sides: check
$4 drafts served in Mason jars: check
I had one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever eaten consisting of cheddar with bacon and grilled onions on rye. Wow! I washed it down with a locally brewed Kane Belgian pale ale draft...well, two actually. And all for $13.00 (cash only).
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular boardwalk area of AP, venture over here instead and enjoy.
I agree with just about every positive review of this bar. Â This is a GREAT neighborhood bar...but as others have also said, I definitely would not call it a DIVE bar.
It's just a cool bar that is not trying to be pretentious, or trendy, but succeeds at every level of what a bar should succeed.
That is, great atmosphere, great brew, great food, and great service...among other things.
Whoever complained about the bartender...I don't know what they're talking about...the person tending bar when I was there was awesome.
My buddy and I had a couple of Sierra Pale Ales which were served in mason jars. Â Kinda interesting...a little quirky, but I had no problem with it.
I ordered the Bacon and Cheddar Grilled Cheese sandwich, and my friend had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich.
Both were very good, but I have to say, the Grilled Cheese was damn near perfect. Â Perfectly grilled, and melty, and hit all the right notes...it went really really well with the ice cold draught beer.
We also split an order of the Sweet Potato Tots. Â These things were strangely addicting, and once again went perfectly with the brew.
Honestly, I can't say anything negative about this place. Â Oh wait, maybe just one. Â Why isn't there a Bond Street Bar in MY damn town?
I would probably live there.
My favorite bar. What I would give to live within crawling distance. When push comes to shove their Patty Melt is probably my favorite Burger ever. The handful of times I had the Pig Wings they were incredible, my only wish is that they were a permanent item menu. Best bar in Asbury, probably NJ.
Cheap Cold Beer, Amazing Food, Great Atmosphere, & Great People.
Can't recommend Bond Street enough.
By far one of my favorite local bars. Â The bartenders and managers at this place ROCK! Â Their goal is clearly to have everyone enjoy their time there. Â Everybody that frequents this place is super relaxed and just there to have a good time. Â The bar is small, but not so much that you can't move around. Â There is more space near the front of the bar by the entrance, so it doesn't get clogged up too bad. Â Usually, you can easily make your way to the bar to snag Chris's attention to get a beer. Â (If you're there and see him, tell him Blankman says hi).
The beer is super cheap and they are always running specials that you can't find ANYWHERE else. Â In addition to cheap, but good food and beer, the random nights of movies, good music, and shuffle board just make for great times all around. Â
If you're looking for somewhere to hang out, relax, and hrow a few back this is the place to be!
This place is awesome. Â Its not a dive bar, oh no no, it's a place to go and have a great time with friends and meet some awesome people.
The prices are reasonable which always makes for a crowd pleaser... oh and no cover either! Oh and cash only - ATM is in the back of the bar tho
The side of the bar has an outdoor area that has a nice string of lights and rocking music. Â
I didn't eat this visit but I heard (from people later that night at ANOTHER bar) that Bond street has fried pickles and  grilled cheeses to keep coming back for.  I also heard they have pork roll fries that would make anyone come back for more.  (I did look at the menu online and I didn't see them tho).
Ps. ask anyone with Bond Street shirt on to show you the inside of thir shirt ;)
As you walk up to Bond St. Bar, your initial thought is that you'll be walking into a dive bar, which to me, isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some of my favorite bars are dive bars - cheap drinks and no attitude are good things. Â And to that effect, Bond St. bar does share those characteristics with a dive bar. Â That is where the similarities end though. Â
When you walk into Bond St. Bar, you're presented with a small, but well thought out space. Â There's a long bar on one side with a large picnic-style table and shuffleboard table on the other. Â Nice wood paneling and murals reminiscent of currency adorn the walls.
The staff is friendly and for lack of a better word, quirky. Â For example, if you look on your bar tab/receipt, you'll see an honest description of your party: "Two dudes" or "Drinking Party". Â If you ask what's in certain menu items, such as the "Pot of Gold" or "The Lazy Fat Kid Cheesesteak" you'll be given responses along the lines of "It's whatever the chef decides" or "The chef won't tell me". Â
But this brings me to the real reason why I love Bond St. Bar: The Food. Â It's spectacular. Â It's nothing fancy. Â Burgers, grilled cheese, and the like - but everything is fantastic. Â The burgers are truly some of the best in the area. Â Always cooked to perfection. Â Juicy and delicious. Â Just as a burger should be. Â And the grilled cheese - well, it's a life altering experience IMHO. Â I'm not sure how they do it, but it's pure perfection. Â The bread is at just the right crispness (never burned, never soggy) and the cheese is all hot and melty. Â If a burger and grilled cheese aren't your thing, then perhaps the Smoked Brisket Monte Cristo will get your attention. Â And if you only want a snack, then look no further than the sweet potato tots. An enormous basket for $3. Â
Perhaps though that you want something...a bit unique? Â Then Bond St. is also highly recommended. Â Their kitchen staff isn't afraid to push the limits in comfort food goodness. Â My personal favorite: Pork Roll Fries. Â Yes, I said it. Â Thick cut pork roll that's then deep fried. Â Oh yes. Â Your arteries will hate you and you might hate yourself after consuming them, but for a pork roll loving Jerseyan, it's Nirvana.
Of course, if you eat any of the delectable morsels described above, then you'll most certainly need something to wash it down. Â And fortunately, Bond St. won't let you down in this area either. Â The drinks are cheap and made right. Â Plenty of good beers either on tap or in bottles or cans. Â Or you can skip the beer and have a mixed drink. Â It's all good here and it won't even begin to break the bank.
The Bond Street Bar is my favorite place to go chill now. Great prices, great beer selection, GREAT GREAT food. I drive a half hour just to come chill there. Also, the retro decorations are awesome and very warm and welcoming.
First off, the food is amazing. They have a daily-updated food special menu with all sorts of unique, crazy things! McRib Tacos, Pork Roll Fries, Bag o' Nachos.. they make them up all themselves, and cook them wonderfully. Their regular menu is also excellent. The Burgers are superb, and the Grilled Cheese menu is awesome after a few beers!
The prices are all legit too. If you just want a beer, a burger and some fries, it'll run you about 12 bucks. Sides are about 3 dollars for a big basket, burgers usually around 6 dollars, beers anywhere from 2-4$.
They also carry Local Beers on tap, and have the general run of the mill beers too! Get a bucket of 7oz beers, 6 for 8 dollars. Just can't beat this place man.
The best part about this place I think, they have a shuffleboard to play on while hanging out with your friends. A great way to meet some of the people in Asbury! Its also got a lean, so if you go there and play a lot, its like you got a homefield advantage. ;)
Check this place out, you won't regret it!
I went their for lunch, so it was easy to get a seat at the bar. I can't imagine that it would be easy to get a seat at night.
Food: Surprisingly good.
Drink: Clean and fresh tap beer. Full bar.
Price: Great bargain.
Service: Very good. Not friendly, but that seems to be their shtick.
Atmosphere: Dive/Hip
I will go back.
Downside: Put on some damn heat.
Cheap beers in mason jars
Delicious creative daily specials ranging from 4-8 dollars for munchies
And my personal fav the tijuana taxi, 2 sol nips and a tequila shot for 5 $
Atmosphere is great, they are always playing good music.
Its an awesome place to have lunch, or a dive  where you can tie on a buzz for cheap
This place has become the go-to hangout for a lot of Asbury residents, and for good reason. It's a bit of a dive, but in a fun, kitchy way and not a dirty shack sort of way. The food is way better than you'd expect for the kind of place it is, and the prices can't be beat. My personal favorite menu item is the fried pickles but the sweet potato tots come in at a very close second. Weekly movie nights are a fun time, as are the theme nights like the recent post-season beach party.
There are two reasons I didn't give it 5 stars. The first is because it's pretty small so it gets *extremely* crowded during peak times, and second is that the free peanuts went away! I miss the peanuts. :(
Also it's CASH ONLY but they do have an ATM in the back by the bathrooms.
Is it a hipster place posing as a dive bar or a dive bar posing as a hipster place?
Doesn't matter. It's got good cheap beer. Terrific cheap food. Some tacos (which were awesome) and a beer cost me $7. (PBR in a can was $2). All the food was $5 or $6 and it all looked good.
An enjoyable place to have a beer and lunch.
CASH ONLY
This bar is a perfect, dive scene for me.
Cheap beer and great service. Â Nice small menu consisting of bar food, never eaten here but it looks decent every time I see it come out.
The Saturday I was there the bartender had his iPod hooked up to the speakers and had a great mix on with nirvana and pearl jam and rolling stones amongst others...
They serve beer in mason jars and shots in mini mason jars which is awesome-o.
Other YELP'ers have correctly labeled this bar as being far from dive bar standards but is also far from some of the overpriced spots that Asbury Park has seemed to attract lately. Â This is hard to find, look for the upside-down eye sign and come on in. Â The bartender was awesome and set us up with $2 miller lite drafts in mason jars. Â The beer was cold and he was back as soon as 1 sip of beer was left in the jar asking if I wanted another. Â They do have a shuffle board game and the crowd is local. Â You are going to find the union workers who are making Asbury great again stopping in for a cold one before they go home. Â The food that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled good. Â "A" was right we should have come here sooner but "M" was having a meltdown so we had to wait =) Â Bond St. we will return!
Review Source:Awesome, small bar in Asbury. Â All the drinks are cheap and it's a fun place to hang out if you're on a budget.
The room is small but they have outdoor seating in the summer. Â All drinks are served in mason jars and the bartenders usually have their ipods playing on the speakers with bands like Social D so they have that going for them.
Cheap beer. Â Delicious, greaseball bar food. Â Sports on the TV. Â Asbury Park. Â It's a winning combo for this tiny side street bar, identifiable only by the sign outside with the eyeball on it.
Two drawbacks: Â because of the size, it gets crowded fast, and it gets loud.
Because it's the Jersey Shore, you'll find an eclectic group of people, but because it's Asbury Park, it's going to be a much less obnoxious group of people than you'll find at bars in Belmar or Manasquan.
Could this tiny bar have great cheap food? Â YES! Â A killer Big Kahuna burger (burger, pineapple, swiss, teriyaki sauce) for $6. Â Tasty tasty well-coated wings for $4. Â Killer grilled cheese sandwiches for $4-5. Â Deep fried pickles for $3. Â And still damn cheep cheep beer and drinks.
The shuffleboard table is still a bit wonky, but otherwise this place is just amazing. Â Best bang for the buck in Monmouth County in a cool trendy venue.
$3 beers -- including the Holy Juice of Pottsville, Yeungling Lager -- $6 shots and $8 buckets of six pony bottles of brew make Bond Street a difficult bar to dislike. Â With the gratis bowls of peanuts in the shell scattered about and the shuffleboard table sanded and ready to slide, management has retained the fun parts of a dive bar concept while ditching the grime and attitude.
We likee! Â The finishes here are beautiful, too. Â Somebody is handy with a miter saw, and the eyeball sign and feathery painted accents are lifted straight off good old American greenbacks.
We didn't eat here, having just come from dinner, but the Monte Cristo and entire menu of grilled cheese sandwiches looked solid, and in line with the bar's overall unfussy vibe. Â Bartenders were fast, even under the Friday night crunch. Â If you're looking for a hip bar in the manner of the East Village or down in South Philly, you've found it. Cash only.
Some people are calling Bond Street a dive but I do not agree. Â It is very intimate but finished quite well actually with a low key look that reminds me of the beer joints I grew up with in Pittsburgh.
Anyway who cares as Bond Street is all about the booze with $2. PBRs and buckets of (6) nips, your choice of beer, for $8. Â Hey how about a Guinness on tap for $4. Â Grab one of these cheap beers to wash down one of the best $5. burgers on the Jersey shore when you get a chance.
Btw - cash only here with these prices it's understandable.
