Horrible trashy place. It has potential as a dive bar, but there entire place smells like vomit & sewage. All male customers must get in line behind the creepy owner who is in love with a young bartender. He gives every guy dirty looks because of his insecurity....trouble seems nearby at all times. Guys, do not bring your woman here. If you do, you will have 50% chance of getting into a fight with one of the apes that loiters here. This place costs too much to be treated so poorly by the owner and his hillbilly friends...they forget it's a business and not there garage. STAY AWAY! Unless you enjoy sausage fest dumps...then I recommend it.

Hey! Your bar stinks like a port a potty. It smelled before, but now it's over the top awful. I was there Saturday night and attendance was really bad. Put in a Fabreze plug in or fix your sewage issue. Until then I won't be back.

I went here to see my friends' band play and will not be returning for any other reason. The acoustics were off so they didn't sound very good (too echo-y) I'm surprised to hear that they have live music fairly often. The stage was very small (and a very low ceiling) and there wasn't much room for anyone to sit and listen.

There are pool tables in the back which is a nice break from just standing around drinking.  Parking is rather limited so if you do go, be advised. I normally love dive bars, but this was a little too dive-y for my taste.

High Class Dive Bar! Best Bartenders in San Jose/Los Gatos, and the owner Mikey is the BEST! great for small group gatherings or to watch sports. Even just to drop in for a beer on the way home! Gotta Love it! Don't knock it till you try it!

I am new to the area. Playing the single game after 20 years of marriage, I found it important to find a nearby dive bar to relax and enjoy a beer. The Boulevard Tavern is a mile from my new place. Perfect in the event my car does not start after a few beers, or for whatever other reason driving is not a good idea.

They have PBR on tap and an interesting mix of patrons. It is a great place to watch the Giants, 49ers, or Sharks with a beer, and a bowl of popcorn.

A few of the Fridays that I have been there they had live music.

I expect I will become a quasi regular on Friday nights for my end of week beer.

I lived in LG for 10 years and never came to this place until I moved to San Jose and I have to say, it was a great place to have a drink! It's totally dive, but the drink prices are reasonable, they serve delicious free popcorn, and they have a pretty cool juke box machine. The clientele ranged all over the map which also made the environment fun to hang out in. It wasn't my favorite when someone put on 5 straight songs of super heavy metal that was so loud you couldn't talk to the person next to you...that's my only recommendation is that they could have turned the music down a notch. Otherwise, it's the perfect antidote to an expensive, dressy night out at Santana Row!

This is a fairly standard dive bar, burried near the campbell - los gatos border, near Good Sam Hospital.  The bartenders are awesome, and the owner, Mikey, is there most of the time ready to drink along side the customers.
This place is great for day drinking or if you're in for a long night of getting plastered.  The one downside is that this place does not really serve food (except the popcorn machine), but they do allow you to order food from somewhere else and have it delivered to the restaurant.

This is a friendly bar that has a warm feel when you walk in.  good female bartenders (which is nice), cheap drinks, music, pool tables and a neighborhood vibe.

Good for day drinking or partying at night if you and your friends want to get away from the typical downtown scenes.

    Have fun!

We affectionately call this little dive "The Portal to Hell".  I cannot tell you how many times we have popped in here for "just one quick drink" only to strike up a conversation with one of the MANY interesting characters seated at the bar.

"Just one quick drink" becomes "just one little shot" and the next thing you know it is Tuesday.

The Boulevard Tavern is a great refreshment from crowded clubs and bars where everyone is wearing ed hardy. Its  a hide-out where you can relax and have a good time. Good crowd, great bartenders, and the owner is super friendly and laid back. Very cozy and welcoming. Great place to watch the game, sing karaoke, or listen to live music. Special guest bartenders on certain occasions. Outdoor patio is a great place to get some fresh air, enjoy the sun on a warm day, or have a smoke break. Always a good time! I recommend giving it a shot!

I've been here a few times but can't say much that is nice for it.  The people there really seem to like it but I'd never go there w/o being strongly coerced by friends.

*unpretentious* is probably the best word to describe this otherwise hard to pin down bar.

    dive-- YES
    sports bar-- YES
    sticky seats-- YES
    resident barflys-- OH YEAH
looks like it could be a scene from Roadhouse-- QUITE POSSIBLY   (RIP patrick swayze)
jukebox-- YES.  but it just played miley cyrus lol

there's something about going into a divebar during the daytime...the sticky floors, bar, everything! the immovable regular barflies, eyeballs always glued to the bar or to the world series of poker repeats on tv.

i think that about sums up my most recent experience.  i dig this place, it is one-of-a-kind in los gatos.  its not flashy or filled with ed hardy type dudes straight out of jersey shore.

good for when you want to get drunk and be left alone, or be rowdy with the guys...

ps--will re-review after seeing some music here.

I went on a Saturday night to this bar and it was packed.  It is a fun little dive bar.  The people were very nice and fun and there ages ranged from 25-45.

The bartenders were attentive but sometimes a little too much because my drink disappeared without my knowledge when I had two sips left.  The only other downside was that it was so packed it made it a bit too warm.

Never had a bad time at the Boulevard!  If the word "dive bar" were in the dictionary(believe me, I checked), Boulevard Tavern would be synonymous!

I have always had a great time at the Boulevard!  There is something about the wood paneling, random decorations, and interesting characters that make it feel like home.  There is also a never ending supply of popcorn from the popcorn machine, nice bartenders(who know how to make a strong drink), and pool tables that are usually pretty easy to get a game on.

Nights starting at the Boulevard are always some of the craziest nights for me, while I usually forget most places afterwards, I always remember having a great time the Boulevard.

Damn, what a DIVE!  The pool table was missing a ball then ate the cue ball before the game was over.  The plastic dart board was a piece of crap.  The Guinness didn't cascade (wtf?).  Seems like it could be a really nice bar if they did some serious cleaning, threw a coat of paint on the walls, and maybe got some functioning bar sports.  I wouldn't go back by choice.

I hit up the Boulevard tavern one night when I was bar hopping. They had a live band that was doing 90's covers, I mean what could be better than that! It was awesome. The beers were kind if small for the price though. I will definatly be going back on Friday nights for the live music.

This is my new favorite place. How many times have I drove by, but never went in, probably a hundred.

This night was different. My buddy Walt wanted to stop by after a friends' B-day party. We're so glad that we did.

What a big surprise! A down to earth, good vibe crowd. And to top it off a four piece band was playing on a Friday night. The band did nice job on a a variety of covers, including: Steve MIller, Otis Redding and a guest female vocalist with a decent version of Hotel California. This was great. A nice alternative to the downtown Los Gatos scene.

People were comfortable doing their own thing - conversing, listening to the tunes, playing pool, dancing or kicking back.
This is on my must return list.

This bar can sometimes be cougar hot spot, but there are more-often some nice, young locals as well as some greasy grandpas that frequent the place for the win. Karaoke nights are super awkward here since the only people participating are usually a man and his girlfriend that take turns or do duets together for a couple hours straight. Everyone else in the bar is pretty indifferent about it. *Slow clap*

The pool tables are kind of janky and the bar smells pretty terrible--it's really musty and you can smell urine even while standing about 20 feet from the bathroom (which is where the pool tables and the darts are located). What do you expect, it's a down and dirty dive bar!

The drinks aren't as stiff as I'd like them to be. I like that the bartender doesn't use TOO much ice for a mixed drink (my biggest pet peeve ever). When I feel a bit more classy, I usually head over to the Bank in Saratoga to grab a whiskey and a leather couch, but when I'm looking for a pool/cocktail combo I think the Boulevard Tavern hits the spot.

Its not a bad bar. Real mixture of people come here. Gets quite busy which is kinda strange since its literally in the middle of nowhere. They have Guinness. They have free popcorn.

We did a gig in this dive bar at the end of last year. The owner, Mike, didnt pay us except for a couple of rounds of beer. We drew in a massive crowd and he probably made over $3000 that night. Thanks Mike! You know how to take care of your performers dude!

Highlight of the night was being assaulted by a gaggle of Urban Cougars simply because I was playing the drums and wearing the kilt in true scottish tradition...

    Repeat after me...

    Los Gatos Cougars ROCK!
    Los Gatos Cougars ROCK!
    Los Gatos Cougars ROCK!

Great place to meet up after work. Reasonable priced drinks. Adequate seating.  Places to talk in private if you want.  Parking lot is kind of small.  Inside was a pool table, set up for a band and a TV to watch your favorite game.  Everyone was very friendly. Dress is extremely casual. Show up as you are & be comfy. :-)

Best bar in the area, bar none. If you're into a dive bar type of atmosphere and get there when they have live music it's well worth it. A good layout and fair drink prices. Watch the tab though, mine had to be corrected last time I went because they charged 3 of my friend's drinks to my tab instead of his.

good atmosphere that is ruined by the fact that the owners shady gf works as the bartender most nights. Once she overcharged me wrote it off as a mistake, second time around though it seems malicious. She'll rape you (not in a good way) and pretend like she's just being fair. STAY AWAY from this place if you want a chill and decent place to relax after work.

GREAT!  Why?  One of the few dive bars around this area of town.  The drinks are of dive bar quality (ie:  strong!) and the crowd is interesting and unassuming.  And a cab ride home for me is only 20 bucks!  Whoo hoo.

This place is great.  There are no really good dive bars anywhere around that are nice enough not to have bums hanging around.  The crowd is always pleasant and the bands are always good on the weekends. It's nice to have a bar you can go to and pay $5 or less for a beer and not having to dress up like a rockstar like you have to in downtown Los Gatos or Santanna Row.  We need more of these dives around.

Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans have a home in the south bay and it's at Boulevard Tavern, Mikey sports a well-worn Alstott jersey, I'm in the 42 RIcky Bell Kersey in all it's icicle orange glory, come watch all the games, you'll see individual fans of certain teams, with one of the many screens devoted to their favorite team. Friendly any day.

They say the Black Watch in Los Gatos is a dive bar but there's nothing "divey" about it at all.

If you are looking for a good old fashion "dive" bar with a cool crowd than head to this place.

Thursday's are awesome because they have karaoke...where dorks can be dorks. :-) hahah yeah like me!

Whether you come for the music, to meet new friends, shoot a game of pool or to just unwind, you are just about guaranteed to have a Great time!!  They have Live music on Friday nights as well as Great bartenders.  Consider this bar your local "Cheers"!  Hope to see you on a Friday night... :)

I have to agree with Brenda K.

The Boulevard can be your Cheers if you want it to be.  A familiar cast of lively characters seem to always be there (so much so that we have nicknames for a lot of them...hey, I wonder what nickname they have for me?!), the bartenders are great, and the atmosphere is quite homey.  If you can't hang with good ol' salt-of-the-Earth folks then move along, but if you want to meet some good people and have one too many beers, then pull up a bar stool!
