OK, I admit I was hammered late on a Saturday night when I came in. Just about fell down the stairs before I even got to the door. I *was* coherent enough to hear a younger girl in a group behind me utter in absolute disgust "Ewwwww, this place is sooooo divey!" It was actually the complete opposite. Think Bar X's obnoxious drunk-for-the-first-time little brother that snuck in the club with a fake ID. The clientele was decidedly douchey and close to 90% guys. I mean, there's gotta be a place like this in every town for kids to go to on their 21st birthday so it is what it is. The drinks weren't over the top expensive and the Philly may have been the most delicious sandwich I've ever had in my life(whether it was the Philly or that I hadn't eaten since lunch and was putting it on top a 6 pack of PBR pitchers from earlier in the night remains to be seen). Our waitress was quick and there's not really anything for me to complain about except the patrons so I'll throw out a couple stars. Probably not coming back unless its 2 in the afternoon, though.

Great atmosphere on a Saturday night. Average age range seemed like 21-28 years old. Scene was mostly Hipsters. Good ratio female to males. Bar service was great. We were fortunate enough to get a spot at the bar so that helped too. Very helpful in recommending new drinks. Bar tender named Hot Karl seemed to have a good knowledge of Scotch and Whiskey. Based on my experience there I will be going back.

I was in SLC for five weeks for work and Bourbon House became my home away from home away from home.

Where does an out-of -towner go for a drink on a Sunday?  Where does an out-of towner-go for a drink on Christmas Eve?  Where does an out-of-towner go for greatly priced full alcohol bottle beers, pickle backs, juicy lucys, local near beers on tap or good bourbon (Pappy Van Winkle please)?  Why the good old, reliable bar that is hidden in the basement of the Walker Building in downtown SLC called Bourbon House.

This is where I had most of my drinks, this is where I played pool and Buck Hunter Safari and this is where my new friends and I would meet.  This is also where I hope to see my friends on my visit back.
