I could easily go with 1 star, but I'm going to take the emotion (anger) out of the equation.
I honestly don't feel like wasting any more of my time/life on this place so I'll keep it short.
Service: HORRIBLE! My wife's chicken sandwich arrived at our table 15 minutes after my food. No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing. The waitress didn't check on us ONE, but that's only because she was busy texting. I had the nachos and they were sub par to put it nicely. They had a smattering of overcooked ground beef with no seasoning. The guacamole was nearly black with age. the chicken sandwich was blah. The fries were not fresh or hot.
I drank my beer and it stayed drunk. My empty stein sat sadly watching us struggle through the remainder of our meal. Poor empty stein.
My wife and I went the Saturday before St. Patricks day and the place seemed to lack energy. Â It seems as if it can't decide whether it's a bar or a restaurant. Â The food was OK, but not great. Â There is no cocktail menu and my wife was wishing there was one, sometimes she needs help deciding. Â
A couple of tips would be...dim the lights, it's too bright to feel cozy. Â Offer a snack... peanuts, popcorn, something spicy to help get our thirst on. Â A drink menu. Â The beers a behind a Zion curtain so you can't see what they have, and as I stated before there isn't a cocktail menu.
It's a nice place...just missing a little something.
Came here on a Sunday at noon in hopes to watch some football and eat good food, and Bout Time delivered. There were a fair amount of customers inside (the location i think is a little random and in the middle of nowhere, unless you're going skiing that is), two bartenders/waitresses, and plenty of HD TVs. There were two different games we wanted to see, so they rearranged some channels to accommodate us. Service was very friendly and surprisingly fast considering the waitress to customer ratio.
This is the only place i know of in SLC that serves a Monte Cristo sandwich, which was really ironic because I had been randomly craving one the night before! Â For those of you who aren't familiar, a monte cristo is usually a ham and/or turkey sandwich with cheese, dipped in batter, deep fried, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with raspberry jam. Â it's fried fair food on steroids.... aka it will give you a heart attack but you'll die happy. I opted to just take a half sandwich (extra points for even having that option!) and that proved to be more than enough for me - I couldn't even finish the half sandwich. Â It's served with fresh cut french fies that were perfectly seasoned and served with delicious fry sauce.
The "fire" wings were decent. they were definitely not spicy for my standards, but good regardless and I'd get them again when I go back. Â Good beer selection, decent bloody mary, and the mimosas are huge compared to the mimosas that are usually served in tiny champagne glasses - these were served in actual wine glasses ($6).
I'll be back for my next Eagles game Bout Time. See ya then
Not much activity going on in this area at night. So it was nice to see that Bout time is open until late. Good thing about it is that you can always grab a late night bite and wash it down with a good beer. Some pretty interesting characters show up here at night and good conversations are had at the bar.
The service is always attentive and engaged and so far I have had some pretty good grub here as well.
Since my hotel is just across the street from here, I am sure to return and make a late night pit stop before settling in for the night after a day in the Canyon, Downtown or Park City.
Until the next cold Guinness - 4 stars and counting.
I'm always on the look out for a DEEP FRIED MONTE CRISTO sandwich. Â So many restraunts batter and grill them these days. Â "Bout Time" does it RIGHT. Â heavily battered, deep fried, quarterd and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Â Way too much food for one person in one sitting. Â My 13 year old got a kick out of the Irish Nachos. Â I loved it so much I took my mother, then grabbed my bestie for a 3rd trip.
Review Source:The steak sandwich was very good and the fries were great. Finally, a place that serves fresh-cut fries and actually goes the extra mile by blanching them first. The wings were the smallest little wings I've ever seen. I'd say they were just okay. On the whole, a tasty meal at a reasonable price in a fun, clean space.
Review Source:It's a typical sports bar, but ...
It's clean. Well-lit. Has MORE than enough TVs. Has a decent beer selection AND a full bar. The service gets a bit slow when it's packed, but I'd expect that anywhere. And the food, well. It's pretty good!
One of the servers a while back told me that the owner of the Bout Time pubs used to work for Bennigan's, so the food is similar - right down to the Monte Cristo sandwich, which is one of my favorites. All the apps on the menu are good (the Irish nachos are my fave, natch), and the prices are downright reasonable.
All of these things make Bout Time one of my favorite places to grab a beer or catch a game.
There IS one weird thing: even though it's a bar, they allow kids in until 9pm. It reminds me of the Reese Witherspoon line in "Sweet Home Alabama": "It's a baby! In a bar!" I guess it just threw me off when the server arrived at my table with a toddler on her hip.
We had dinner there tonight for the first time. Â I had the French Dip with fries. Â The French Dip was good. Â The fries were outstanding. Â They were house made, real potatoes and I suspect they were fried twice. Â The fry sauce also appeared homemade. Â The service was friendly. Â The atmosphere was great. Â The music was good, but the base was turned up a little bit too loud. Â I will definitely go back.
Review Source:I was in town a few weeks back for a wedding and we all stopped in here one night. It was next to our hotel so we walked over. This place was not too bad. The menu was ok and so was the food. The service was decent and the juke box was ok.
I have been to worst places and I have also been to better. I think this place fits right in the middle. I just wish they had a better beer selection instead of the usual generic beers everyone has.
This place is the quintessential sports pub replete with big tv's and a roll of paper towels on each table. Â On a recommendation from the staff, I had the garlic burger. Â Perfectly cooked. Â My only criticism is that the pattys (there were 2) should fit the bun. Â The fries were great while they were hot, but they limped up as only fresh cut fries can. Â Tea is fresh brewed.
The service was great in the beginning but slowed up at the end as the bartender/waitress was talking revenue and politics with a patron.
