EXCELLENT hot roast beef sandwich. We had the half serving and it was delicious. We also added green beans and they were fabulous too. The roast beef tasted like I used to have as a kid. Tender, beefy tasting, high quality, melt-in-your mouth good. But then I had the elderberry pie ala mode and OMG was it wonderful. The elderberries were so tasty and the ice cream was so creamy. Nothing was too sweet either. My husband had the blackberry cobbler and the blackberries were like wild blackberries, so tasty, and again the softserve was AMAZING. We're DQ fans but this puts DQ to shame. Not too sweet, but creamy and tasty. YUM YUM YUM. We came in around 2 after arriving in Berlin at the Scenic HIlls RV Park and rode our bikes in. No waiting. Very good.

Our waitress was very friendly and provided good service. Food was ok. I would actually give them a 3, as it was average, except for the pie. The pie is wonderful. Plus, since we were there right before closing, they gave us a free piece of pie since they would be throwing it away anyways. First restaurant I've been to where they would rather give there customers something free rather than toss it out.  And that pie, banana cream, was delicious. For that, they get 4 stars.

We were visiting Berlin and needed a spot for dinner.  Consulting Yelp, we thought we would give this spot a try.  Granted,  I'm not am Amish food enthusiast, but expected something a little different.  I ordered the evening special of Ham Loaf with mashed potatoes and corn. Dev had the pork chop with noodles and corn. Both were served with a thick slice of freshly baked bread and butter.  Yum!  My ham loaf was interesting.  Sweeter than I'd expected,  but not unpleasant.  The mashed potatoes were good,  but were served with some pre-fab instant gravy that hadn't been mentioned.  Skip it. The corn was canned and disappointing.  Dev's pork chop was 'just okay '. Kind of tough. The noodles were very plain.  So we both ordered fresh peach pie to go. I make fresh peach pie and that's what I was expecting.  This pie contained bright orange peaches in bright orange filling covered in Cool Whip.  Not real whipped cream, even. I guess I expected real, homemade food.  Maybe I just don't understand the draw here.....

It was dinner time and the streets were busy, but we took a chance to see if we would have to wait for a table.  Luckily, a single table for two was open and we took it.  The young lady in traditional amish or mennonite garb took our order and made us feel at home.  While my wife went with chili and fried mushrooms, I ordered a favorite from my childhood past:  liver and onions.  How great to have such a memorable meal to spark the memory of one's mother cooking up a similar meal in her frying skillet.
We wanted to return for a piece of homemade banana cream pie, but our schedule didn't allow it.  I guess we'll have to return someday.
This slice of homemade goodness beats those chain restaurants hands down.

My friend loves the ham loaf here, and it was good.  I got the fish which was just OK - reminded me of cafeteria fare.  The cole slaw was really good.  The mashed potatoes were kind of runny & salty.  Service was fairly good.  The bathroom had a sewer smell.  Cash or check only.  Two people tripped & fell on the sidewalk outside our window so beware.

This is a classic diner style restaraunt that you feel is lost in the '50s.   The food here is great, it is one of my favorite breakfast spots.

If you do want to eat breakfast here, I suggest you have a backup plan.  The place is often full and you will need to wait.
