If you like good beer in a comfortable atmosphere without obnoxious 21 year-olds, this place is for you. Â I only wish it was closer to my house.
The staff is friendly and mostly very attentive. Â I have been twice; on one occasion, my waitress was rather slow, but the waitress rocked the second time I went. Â
They have a great beer list, but my favorite part is their happy hour and specials. Â $1.50 off all drafts Monday-Friday for happy hour. Â AND they have a teacher discount for all my fellow stressed out teachers! Â They take the $1.50 off and also give you 25% off, if you have your ID. Â AWESOME!
This is a great bar and the location at Wiregrass in proximity to other restaurants makes it a great place to stop by after dinner or a tiring day of shopping.
The Brass Tap has an extensive menu of both draft and bottled beers, and the staff is attentive and prompt. I stopped by on a Tuesday night and was surprised that the place was decently filled with plenty of younger people; I had previously thought that any semblance of a night scene in New Tampa was virtually nonexistant. Tuesday night also features karaoke and some great $3 beer specials.
As far as food, the only item on their menu are soft pretzels that come with dipping sauces. However, they have the menus for all of the surrounding Wiregrass restaurants and you can order from any one of them and someone will deliver it to you at the bar. You never have to take your eyes off the game if you get hunger pangs! **ATTENTION MARCH MADNESS FIENDS**
The bar itself is very clean and has a comfortable vibe to it, and the outdoor patio and seating area with heat lamps for colder weather (we all know how Floridians break out the sweaters for anything below 70 degrees!) are an added bonus. This is a great place to have in the neighborhood!
Used to be a regular here, but haven't been in awhile. Stopped in last night for some live music and it seems they now only do music on Friday and Saturday. Booo. There were quite a few people in here, so it would have been great to have some music. Their wine menu also looks like it's shrunken, and their "ladies night" special only includes house wines.
Review Source:Wow! Just wow! Better than World of Beer (I love em some WOB) and without the overly corporate feel as well. They have a large selection of draft beers. Â I didn't count but I am thinking we are approaching 45 plus here. Â The do have a decent bottle selection. Â To compare to WoB (since I already did), Brass Tap has far more drafts whereas WoB has far more bottles. Â Don't know about you but I prefer my beer of draft. Â
The atmosphere is good and it is in a great location. Â Plenty of restaurants around and varied. Â Go shopping, get some dinner, then grab a beer at a great bar.
Oh...25% off for teachers between 3-7 everyday. Â Why don't more bars tap into the stressed out after work and needing a drink teacher market?
They're the best beer bar available in the Wesley Chapel area, it's that easy. They have an outstanding menu of beer options with a combination of draft and bottles. There is a consistent menu of local and national favorites but they also adjust be season and preference. The bar staff is very welcoming and attentive to us beer lovers and there's little turnover as the place is well managed. They don't offer food but welcome waiters from other restaurants at Wiregrass to serve you and feel free to BYOF. Hopefully The Brass Tap will be your next bar of choice for a couple beers, if you go I know you won't be disappointed!
Review Source:This would be my go-to bar if I lived here. Â Very nice selection of craft and import beers. Â It's not Taco Mac huge, but it does offer something for everyone. Â Knowledgable waitress, at least for us. Â I liked that some thought went into the beers offered, including several Octoberfest beers from Bavaria and the states.
Review Source:I have been to a lot of bars and this was just okay to me. The waitress was dumb and didn't know what she was doing because she brought my friend a beer when my friend didn't even order one  then insisted she paid! She was being a real brat about it (the waitress) but luckily we didn't end up paying even after her horrible attitude. Customer first...duh! They did have a fun band playing oldies!
Review Source:The Brass Tap is a great place to hang out and be a regular, it is my neighborhood go to bar of choice. I have been going there for almost 3 years.
This location is at Wiregrass Mall (outdoor mall). They serve a huge selection of beer and wine only. They do not serve food, but you can bring in food and nearby restaurants deliver take out. Smoking is allowed in the patio area and cigars are available to buy.
If you love all things beer, you'll love it here. The staff are very knowledge about the beers and brewers they feature. They will let you taste a beer before you order it if you're not sure you'll like it.
They have great weekly specials like $1.50 off drafts for happy hour, trivia, karaoke, ladies night and live music. (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brasstapbeerbar.com%2Fwesley-chapel-weekly-specials.php&s=fefc6cc69ea47e8b55e51558738fa2c417c8647190aeb70fa32aea7a6776ab4d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.brasstapbeerb…</a>) The live music Thursday - Saturday features some great local musicians if you like to have a drink and chill out. If you prefer a quieter environment come before 9pm any night of the week.
Nice beer bar with a strong emphasis on the beer. Wide selection of drafts available from around the globe with a few local selections thrown in for good measure. THey also have more bottles than you can shake a stick at.
They don't offer food but they do seem to have a good relationship with Grill Smith located next door. The server from Grill Smith makes frequent visits to The Brass Tap taking and delivering orders. Only recommendation is order something you don't need a steak knife for since they only give you plastic ware.
This is a little more of an upscale bar located in a strip mall in Wesley Chapel. Â The beer selection is ridiculous. Â They have tons of imports from dunkels, to lagers, and many are on tap. They do not serve liqour, but you can go right across the street for that.
My personal favorite is the St. Bernardus ABT 12. Â
They constantly change out the seasonal beers which is nice so you can always have something new to try if you want to.
The happy hour deal is pretty good, and at night they have live music. Â Each time I have been there with a live band, the volume isn't too overwhelming and the band has been pretty good. Â It's usually a cover band of sorts or a one man band with an acoustic.
Last time I was there I was waiting for a friend to get off work on the eve of my birthday and I was able to relax and watch some of the bowl games on the flat screens they also have up near the bar.
Service has always been fast and they will let you try any of the beers on tap before buying one.
They do have an outside patio area, but it is sort of connected to the inside with no barrier in between, so if you don't like smoke, you probably don't want to sit on that side of the bar area.
Came here during the week for a shopping break. I was with my husband, sisters, and friends. We were lucky to be in time for their Happy Hour specials which consisted of a handful of beers to chose from. The beer was delicious and the server was friendly. It was only us and one other group in the place. The Brass Tap reminded me of another Beer place-I'm pretty sure you know which one I'm talking about :) Â
I liked the Brass Tap but I'd probably go to the other beer place since my husband has a loyalty card there and we get to keep score on how may beers we've actually tried. Also, I feel like the other place has more of a selection but that's just me. If I'm already at Wiregrass I would go here but I wouldn't go out of my way. I'm happy that there is a place like this at Wregrass though! :)
Wow, now I'm actually jealous of people who live in Tampa!!!
We do not have any bars like this in Miami! I am really really jealous!
I come up to Wesley Chapel to visit my best friends a few times a year and although they don't drink they know I work in the beverage industry and were willing to try out this highly rated bar with me.
So many delicious, craft beers on tap. Don't let some of the reviews scare you - the prices are not outrageous. We payed $5 to $7 for our beers and the $7 one is the highest rated beer on beer advocate.
I had the Cigar City Jai-alai (IPA) which is a local brewery and was blown away. The beer was hoppy and bitter like a typical IPA but the flavors were crisp, lingering, and the body was super creamy. The beer was perfect!
No, they don't have food - but who cares - they have awkward live music and drunk housewives on their night off.
Really, if you love beer and a good time this is the place. The bar is classy but not stuck up and the service is friendly and easy going.
I cannot wait to drive up for karaoke night (Tuesday!) sometime in the near future.
Really overpriced. We're talking 7 avg price for a beer...unless you catch happy hour which is bogo but you are given a VERY limited selection of maybe 4-5 to choose from. The outdoor patio would be nice except its incessantly CRAMED with smokers and even worse cigar smoke that penetrates to the inside area. Â They serve NO food and NO liquor. Â Not worth the money you'll spend. Atmosphere has potential but this place just does not deliver.
Review Source:I'm going to come right out and say it. I love the Brass Tap. If it weren't for my wonderful back porch, it would be my favorite place to hang out and have a beer. Well, on second thought, my back porch doesn't have hundreds of different beers to choose from. So yeah, the Brass Tap IS my favorite place to have a beer.
My first experience at the Tap occurred almost a year ago. The wife and I were at Wiregrass mall doing some shopping and were really hungry. We saw this new place and thought we'd try it. As I looked through what I thought was a food menu, I realized that there was only beer and wine available. We left in search of food. Flash forward to March of this year. Wife takes me to the mall during March Madness. She can tell that I don't want to go stand around in Express while she tries on half the store, so she tells me to wait at the Brass Tap and watch some basketball. About an hour (and four beers) later, she finds her slightly drunk husband perched outside on the patio about to order another one.
Since that wonderful visit, the wife and I have spent many a day and night sitting out on the patio, people watching and drinking great beer from all around the world. Best of all, we've made friends along the way. See, The Brass Tap to me is kind of like my back porch away from home. I feel comfortable. I feel happy. And what makes a better drinking environment than that?
The Tap has plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied too. You can play darts in the back, watch one of about 20 televisions, or experience some great live music. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, The Brass Tap features great local bands and singers. I really enjoy live music, especially good live music, and I've never been disappointed there. Perhaps my favorite night though is Tuesday. Starting around 9:30, The Tap offers karaoke until the wee hours of the morning. Let's face it, drunk people singing is usually great, even when it's terrible. I've been known to get up and sing a few tunes myself. I fall into the terrible category, but at least I realize it.
Oh yes...The beer! With over 40 beers on tap, a list that changes quite frequently, and hundreds of other beers in bottles, you can go there and never have to drink the same beer twice. Sometimes I find it fun to go on a tour of a particular county while there. Although I usually end up just living in Belgium. For non-beer drinkers they also have a nice selection of wines, and if you are the type to bring your kids to a bar, they'll even rustle up some sodas. You can even purchase cigars there as well to accompany your drinks.
I mentioned before that on my first trip there, I was disappointed to not find any food on the menu. Fortunately, the two restaurants that bookend The Brass Tap offer to go service, usually going as far as having waiters come over to take orders and deliver. This comes in handy for someone like myself, who seems to really like the 8% alcohol and above beers.
What really sets The Brass Tap apart is the staff. We have been fortunate enough to get to know many of the girls that serve there and every one of them is always knowledgeable, friendly, and pretty easy on the eyes too. Even when the waitresses we love move on to new things, the management seems pretty capable of finding the right kind of people to work there.
So, in case you couldn't already tell, The Brass Tap is my favorite bar. If I could, I'd go every day. This blog would get pretty boring though if I never went anywhere else. Still, this is always a must at least once or twice a week. Sometimes more. In fact, just writing about it has perked up my taste buds for a nice, cold Chimay. Before I hop in the car, I'll leave you with this. Remember the show Cheers? Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. And if you're like me, then that's usually a bar. The Brass Tap is my "Cheers" bar. Come in sometime. I'll be sure to scream "Norm!" at you.
Second trip to Brass Tap. Talk about love at second site...and first and probably third :) Had a great bartender this time who made some delicious recommendations. Started with the Vanilla Porter cause well, why not, it rocks. My bar mate tried the Choklat Stout by Southern Tier, wow!!! It smelled like cocoa and coffee but tasted like beer glory. I myself tried Southern Tier's pumpking. Its got a bit of bitterness and a taste I'm still having trouble pinpointing. Good beer, not my favorite of the pumpkin varietal though.
Review Source:I knew I was going to be a fan of this bar the second I walked in. Whenever I see a wall sized chalkboard with beers listed, a good time is about to be had.
Bundled in with a few other bars and restaurants at the Shops at Wiregrass, The Brass Tap is a borderline mecca to any beer drinker that dares cross it. The selection here is simply endless. In addition to the forty globe-encompassing drafts they have on tap, there is a rather thick menu (yes, a full 10+ page menu) of bottled bliss just waiting for you to sift through. It's easy to get lost in all the choices, so pick something and stick to it. In my case, I usually give my bartender/waitress a general idea and say "surprise me." Beware: this may lead to hefty cab fares and/or bad decisions.
The decor here is classy, and the clientele appear to be as well. It will tend to fill up quickly with college kids and young professionals on the weekends so get there early if you want a table for all night beer adventure (my companion and I got really lucky on this one). We were lucky enough to see a live guitar and violin duo on the stage as we drank which was pleasant addition to the cool outdoor seating.
My adventure:
Drop Top Ale: a fairly standard amber ale. A good start to the night.
Highlands Gaelic Ale: another amber. A little stronger than the first. Â We're getting on our way...
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter: Now this is a beer! Dark, rich and and a little sweet with a great vanilla kick at the end. Truly a treat in a glass.
Belhaven Scottish Ale: I'm not even gonna try to do this beer justice. Memory was a bit fuzzy at this point. Wasn't bad. Worth a try!
If you enjoy beer, get here. Won't be disappointed. If you are, it's your own damn fault.
Beer and wine only, but they have a very wide selection of beers, including tons of microbrews and they get new beers on tap on a regular basis. Â While Brass Tap doesn't serve food, servers from nearby restaurants Cantina Laredo and Grillsmith will actually come into the Brass Tap, take your order, and bring your food to you. Â
Has both an indoor and an outdoor section (which means it's not usually smoky at all inside), tons of TVs, the staff is always friendly and quick, and I've never had a bad experience. Â Love this place!
Brass Tap is my fav bar in Tampa. I'm not super adventurous when it comes to bars because if I find a couple that I like, I stick with 'em. Brass Tap def fits pretty much all my needs.
It is a beer/wine/cigar place. It has a ton of beer (over 40 on tap and another 150 or so in bottles). The prices are decent and the location (inside Wiregrass mall) is pleasant. I only do beer so never tried wine or cigars.
Cons:
*No food! (This is def the biggest drawback, but you can adapt by ordering from restaurants that deliver or pick up something on your way here)
*Happy hour: Used to be a great happy hour (2-1 on great beers, no end time)
Now it has devolved into a choice of 5 not so good beers that change every week, it ends at 8pm and often the list doesn't change. You'd think after world of beer and prime bar opened in New Tampa area, Brass Tap would make happy hour deals even better, instead they've made it worse.
*Smoking: I know, I know - smoking is allowed in bars in Florida. But this being a cigar bar, the smoke is suffocating sometimes. More often than not, I feel a headache coming on, especially if I sit outside. It can't be helped, its part of their business model but I can def bitch about it!
Pros:
*Great selection of beers. I would like to see a few more like Steigl, Singha and Lowenbrau. But overall, an amazing selection.
*Ambiance: The place gets super crowded on weekends, so I avoid it then. But most of the time, it is packed without me getting asthma attacks from people's colognes and perfumes. There are flatscreen TVs around the place to watch a game, although I wish they were bigger. They're the same size that I have in my bedroom, so after 3 drinks, scores tend to get a biz hazy :)
Its a low key type of place where the music isnt super loud and neither are the people. The decor is minimal without being bare. The crowd seems to be late 20s and 30s for the most part. They also have great live bands on Thursday - Saturday.
*Staff: The people that work here are fun and efficient. A couple look like 50% of their life was spent in the gym, but besides that everyone is cool! Gotta give a special mention to Stephanie and Christine!
If you're like me where you basically feel compelled to munch on something when you drink, make sure you bring food or you'll be stuck with ordering from crappy Grillsmith next door or the equally mediocre Cantina Laredo.
Its easily a 5 star place (selection and staff wise) but I give it 4 as a protest about their crappy happy hour deals!
Let me first say that I'm not a beer drinker but I am dating one. Â We've been to Tampa Brewing Company in Ybor. Â I tried a beer there and it was ok. Â But what I like about The Brass Tap is the range of drinks. Â I told him about it a while ago but we hadn't made it out to Wesley Chapel in order to visit. Â I don't live that far away but he lives in Largo. Â He also thought they had only a few craft beers like Tampa Brewing Company. Â He was happily surprised that not only is his favorite beer on tap but the range of beers covered anything he'd want to try. Â He's disappointed he doesn't live closer and they don't serve wings. Â But next time we'll order something from a nearby restaurant to go along with our drinks. Â I had Kelly's Raspberry Hard Cider (bottle) and Woodchuck Pear Cider (tap). Â The Kelly's Hard Cider was excellent and would have it again but the Pear Cider was kind of bland.
The bar itself is pretty nice. Â High ceilings, dark wood paneling, and pretty nice restrooms for a bar. Â The play-by-play of the game is piped into the restrooms so you don't miss a minute of the game. Â That was kind of strange. Â I went on a Sunday and most of the indoor seating was full as it was pretty chilly but many braved the cool weather on the patio area to smoke. Â The service didn't stand out as excellent but they were attentive. Â I don't know if they were knowledgeable as we didn't have any questions. Â I imagine the place will be packed during major football games so we were lucky this weeks games were mediocre pre-playoff games.
This is a nice place to relax, have a drink, and meet up with friends. Â I definitely want to go back.
What a great choice this is! Â We went for lunch on a Monday at about 1pm. Â It was a little slow in getting the food, Â but the restaurant is great, seating is comfortable and if the conversation is good, you don't notice too much. Â The service is great. Â Our waitress was very nice and attentive, kept our beverages full. Â We did not try the beer b/c we were driving a long way home (we were visiting). Â
Their bread sticks were delicious. Â Soft, a little garlicky, a little sweet. Â I had the steak sandwich cooked medium rare. Â It was delicious, the meat was very tender and cooked perfectly. Â They put it on a fantastic roll (not sure what kind) with greens, onions and some great sauce. Â I chose the side of french fries which were delicious. Â Their unsweetened ice tea was refreshing.
Another member of our party had the napa valley chicken salad with gorgonzola and dried cranberries among other things. Â Absolutely delish!
The last member of our party had the bbq pork sandwich on "cuban bread" (not so much cuban bread but really good). Â The sandwich was very good, definitely worth a try. Â
The meal was not expensive, with a 20% tip, it was not even $50! Â I would recommend this restaurant. Â give it a try!
VERY large beer selection. Â The menu for the beer was very helpful. Â (Detailing where it was from, the type, the alcohol content, and a brief description.) Â They have a small outside area with tables. Â Inside there are a few booths and tables. Â If I lived closer, I would go here every week. Â My only gripe is when i went on a Saturday night, I could barely move there were so many people.
Review Source:Not bad Exurbia! We went there for happy hour (until 7 pm, two for one beers from their extensive menu, a pretty good deal...), and stayed on until about 10 pm. The place has a fairly modern interior (i.e. does not look like your usual Minivanistan 'family-friendly' restaurant), there is an outdoor area overlooking a plaza in front of the mall. The patrons varied from college hipsters to the usual overmuscled and overblonded suburban plastic people as well as a bunch of middle aged fun seekers.
The service was quick and friendly. The beers on tap cover a wide variety with a bend towards the 'overspiced american microbrew' (example: tangerine flavored wheat beer', chocolate beer and other atrocities...), but one can also find a bunch of Belgian and German brews that taste fresh and happy. Food is served by an adjacent mexican restaurant, i.e. proper high calorie 'beer food' can be had. All in all a surprising find in an otherwise sad minivanized stretch of bland strip malls and foreclosing cookie cutter homes.
If you are in the Wesley Chapel area and are looking for an alcoholic beverage after 11pm this is pretty much your only bet. Â They have about 40+ beers on tap, and about 300+ in a bottle.
All you get is beer, and none of your everyday beers are on tap - such as: Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, etc...
If you're hungry and here before 11pm you can order appetizers off of the GrillSmith menu and they'll bring 'em over to ya. Â DO NOT forget your wallet as the cheapest beer is about $5.
