i enjoy this chain. i've been to the one in tampa, and pensacola... and somewhere else, but o well. the one in tampa is great! there is a giant black guy named Nate who is extremely knowledgeable in beer and mixing for great combinations. he'll infuse some of his kegs on his own to create a taste that is truly unique. and like all world of beers, it's a great atmosphere.
Review Source:This is my favorite World of Beer location in Tampa! It has a nice indoor area, as well as an area outdoors. If you sit down at a table and order from a server, the service can be kind of slow but they have a wonderful beer selection and good specials. On Tuesday nights, they have team trivia, which is really fun if you're into that kind of thing, starting at 7:30pm with WOB gift cards as prizes. I especially like how sometimes they play a song after each question that contains a hint for the question. Â On Wednesday nights, they have 1/2 off select drafts for anyone with a college ID, which is a great deal if you're a student! The Wed nights that I have gone tend to get a bit more crowded, especially when it's warmer outside, and tend to draw a much younger crowd, due to their student special (many more college kids). This WOB is also nice because they have cornhole and in nicer weather, they will have cornhole tournaments. This WOB also holds some pretty fun seasonal events -- for example, for Mardi Gras, they gave away free Mardi Gras swag (T-shirts, coozies, bottle openers, king cake, beads). They also have an annual crawfish boil with tons of crawfish, Abita beers, live music, etc.
My biggest complaint -- not enough food! I understand that this place is called World of Beer and not World of Food but at least have some more variety. There's only like 3 things on their menu, and they are all appetizery/snacky foods, such as a soft pretzel with cheese for dipping sauce. You can get food delivered from some of the other restaurants in the plaza or get take out, but it would be much more convenient if WOB just expanded their food menu slightly. Beer + empty stomach = no good.
