I was surprised to see the lack of yelp reviews around Greenport/Northfork area.

We decided to do some seafood hunting and this place wins my vote.

We were visiting Greenport, NY and searched for some fresh seafood and our second stop was Braun Seafood for lunch to grab some lobster rolls, ended up ordering clambake and fried fish!

Clambake was pretty awesome for $26.95.  It came with a pretty big lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, and a piece of corn.  It took a little while and employees didn't really bother telling us what was going on.  We almost thought they forgot about our order because they just sat around chatting.

Lobster was cooked perfectly (they didn't overcook it where it can turn rubbery).  It was seasoned well and tasted fresh.  They partially cracked the lobster for us which made it much easier to eat.

Our beer battered cod fish was also crispy without much grease left on it!  Fish was really meaty and it was one of the best fried fish I had in a while.

They have indoor and outdoor seating.

What kind of bothers me about this place?  cooks are eating food while they're cooking... that didn't really seem appropriate.

This review is for the fish store, I have never sat in their restaurant.

The seafood is always fresh and the pricing fair.  The only item I have purchased from Braun are the crab cakes.  I always buy them fresh to bring home and freeze.  I enjoy these because they are well spiced and you can see the crab meat.  These are not the "breading mixed with artificial crab meat and eggs"  that so many stores pass off as freshly made crab cakes.  I have often used these crab cakes as stuffing for my fresh Long Island flounder too.  The one time the store was closed, I went into the restaurant, told the person behind the counter what I was looking for and they quickly brought out  the order for me.  Clearly, this is the type of service I look for in any type of store.

No frills, but great, fresh seafood!

We got a feast for two for ~ $60. A 2lb lobster, some blue fish, clams, french fries, sodas... Great bargain, great food

Small dining area for dine in and seafood market place on the side. Whenever I visit Long Island for wine tasting, get dozen of fresh oysters from here for tasting room. $10.50 you can get dozen of fresh oysters. Small oysters but still fresh and comes with nice cocktail sauce.
I like their New England clam chowder and fried seafood combo. But lobster roll is just so so.. Maybe because of the bun they use, I couldn't taste the it's own sweetness of the lobster. Additionally fresh tomato toppings... It wasn't for me.
Staffs are friendly and helpful, have outdoor seating areas as well.

A group of friends and I (6 people) decided to come here for dinner after wine tasting. I think we came right when the dinner peeps were starting to stroll in since the line starting to really form while we were waiting for our food. Speaking of, we were all waiting on line to order and pay separately. The girl told me that if we place our order all together we'll get the food at once but can pay separately. When my name was called (after about an hour), She rang me up for everything but asked her if we could all pay separately (since that's what she said). She gave me TUDE because the owner had to void everything out and she had to ring everything in per person.

I didn't mind if we ordered food separately but that's what you said little girl. Don't give me attitude about something you said!

As for the food, it's not amazing. My husband had the new england clam chowda (which was really good) and the lobster bake (how can you really go wrong with steaming everything?) which was a bit bland...especially the corn. The shrimp in my avocado salad was dry as a cotton ball.

    Seriously. Good.

The waitstaff was sweet. Prices were really decent.

At the restaurant I had the grilled shrimp BLT wrap with avocado and chipotle/lime mayo. Freaking seriously good. Tons of huge shrimp, tons of bacon, the mayo wasn't spicy or overpowering at all. Fries were decent.

At the seafood store, things were very very overpriced. I just got a quart of the New England clam chowder to bring to a BBQ I was going to that afternoon. It was really good. Hearty, tons of clam and potato, the soup was nice and thick.

I very much look forward to going back to the area, getting drunk at the wineries, and visiting this restaurant again. Maybe eating outside if it isn't drizzling next time.

i would've given 4 stars last year, but my second round of this place would be a 3 star experience.

    manhattan clam chowder-good
peel and eat shrimp--last year delicious; this year the shrimp were very small and not flavored as nicely
lobster clam bake--the lobster was good  (of course) but there wasn't much meat in there to split with 2 people, and the mussels and clams were just ehh OK.
buffalo shrimp- fried, frozen shrimp poppers. i expected a little more from a fish market (ie fresh shrimp battered) so was disappointed

go here for lunch, even if you're looking for a casual dinner, i'd find somewhere else. you'll be more satisfied.

    Good, not great.

Couple knocks: shrimp are mini, some items lacked flavor, buffalo shrimp were frozen shrimp "poppers" that resembled something from KFC, middle aged woman who runs the joint is a bit of a B word--not terribly nice to people she might feel "ain't from around here"....other than that, decent seafood joint great for takeout or eating outside.

This place has some of the best seafood I have had the pleasure of having in New York. Please note if you are going here it is next door to Peconic Bay Winery and has indoor and outdoor seating. If you are visiting Northfork, this is a great place to pick up some seafood to go to bring back to your house or to have a picnic and eat. We tried the clam chowder (fantastic), a lobster meat sandwich (very good), some scallops, fish and chips, and some clam strips (awesome). Good job Braun! ;)

This review is for the fish store only not the restaurant.

Always fresh seafood. Very good pricing if you know what you are looking for. If you don;t you can over pay just like any other place.

Always good deals on clams. Bought  1/4 bushel (100 clams) for $35.

When they are in season this is the place to get bay scallops. Bring em home and freeze them. They are the best!

They also sell shelled lobster meat!

been going to north fork in long island every summer to go to farms and wineries. we went strawberry picking and towards in the afternood it rained. we decided to go to greenport coz we are in the mood for fish and chips. so we did not find one. so we drove and i saw "Brauns To Go" told them you passed a "to go" seafood place. we made a U and one went inside. i was waiting in the car. it took 15 minutes for one to come out with a "grilled flounder, bay scallops and shrimps in butter wine sauce" the aroma just lingered inside. smelled so good! i said let me get the first dib! i was mad for not telling me there were tables and chairs inside. i said, i want to eat in there! so we went inside and ordered my "fried flounder with corn" my God! i said this is what you call Fresh fish! i ordered their "new england clam chowder" it is to die for! i spoke to a very nice lady, and told her their food are delicious! and i will bring friends the next time. if it is not more than an hour drive from where we are. i will be here every week.  i am big Fan and i will not miss Braun's! One of The Best Fresh Fish and Seafood that landed in our mouth!

This is a grab it and go kind of place. The food was ok. Yes, the seafood might have been fresh, but the meal itself was just ok. Nothing to write home about, and I wouldnt go back.

    Note: not a real restaurant

I only say this because if you're out on the east end, yelping sushi and expecting a typical sit down resto this will not be it.  The reviewes are great and I'm sure the food is great but be warned, this a whole in the wall, order at the counter, take with you or sit on one of the few tables/take outside and eat on park benches kind of place.

Nothing wrong with that and sometimes that's perfect, just thought I'd mention it in case you drove here thinking this was going to be a sit down kind of meal.

Your great reviews brought us in. The staff since they didn't recognize us gave us no help or direction as to how to order or navigate their three different menus. A woman literally just pointed to a rack where a to go menu was. I then found the lunch in a basket menu, then found the specials board. We asked what the most popular orders were, and after some prompting were guided to the crab cakes and fried combo. My wife was set on the whole lobster. I asked for a sushi menu, and was told there was none until they got someone new to roll...okay...?
Then the clam chowder appetizer came...delicious! Then I noticed Fox news was on the TV. And loud enough that I could hear it.  Awesome! No freaking PC here! Crabcakes and fried belly clams... "so good" ... and hot. Fried combo...Great!... Lobster... Great. All served in separate plastic containers with plastic utensils. Generous portions.
    Great lunch.

Lobster salad was excellent but the roll could have been better. I prefer a lobster roll on brioche or some sort of light buttery and eggy roll. This was a huge multigrain doughy disk that completely masked the delicate flavor of the lobster salad.

Update the roll and this will be the best lobster roll on the island.

I also tried the crab corn chowder and it was light and delicious, creamy without that heavy corn starch flavor.

P.S. Amazing Amazing Amazing cucumber soda. So refreshing!!!

When my family has wanted to eat seafood over the years, and haven't caught it ourselves, we've gone to Braun's and always been satisfied. Their quality is phenomenal, especially since most of what they sell has been caught locally. They're a big wholesaler so if you go there, you're often getting fish that's much  fresher than anyting you can buy otherwise. My cousin even worked there for a summer a while back and remains a huge fan.

I'm not sure when they started it, but their casual restaurant is fantastic!! Their lunch specials are a great deal and are ready quickly. I really like the fried clam shooters (done more like fish and chips than the italian way), though their lobster rolls (always an expensive treat) are as good as Pearl Oyster Bar in the City, maybe even a little better. They also have a sushi bar, which I think was a phenomenal idea! I don't think anything at the sushi bar is caught locally, but it is still extremely high quality and fresh.

Fresh Fish!!!  This place has got it all.

This place has carries the absolutely the best tasting fish and the staff really knows there stuff.  The  inventory changed regularly so you might have to check different times if you are looking for a specific fish.  In addition, if you don't feel like cooking that they have a restaurant right there it is a simple looking room with high tables and no waiter service but the food is cooked right.  The only downfall is fish is not cheap but that is not Braun's if I had it my way I would eat fish from them about 4 nights a week.
