They just started serving food this week. Â We went for lunch today and had the burger with beer mushrooms and beer onions, it was fantastic! Â I think this will be our go to spot on the island for burgers. Also the beer selection had our favorite local beers and great craft options. Can't wait to see the full menu.
Review Source:I love this place!
The bartenders were awesome and helpful when it came to making beer decisions. They actually help you when you sit at the bar instead of avoiding you like the plague. Others bars(*cough* the Spot) do this to you and that's why we don't give those places our business.
I was really impressed with their beer selection and the place has a fun vibe to it. We engaged in conversation with some of the other patrons as well as the bartenders and everyone was really chill.
Their beer list changes a lot so always look at the board and not the tap handles.
Great Spot on the Strand!
Huge beer selection, Long bar with plenty of seating. Â Really friendly and fast service which is always a plus.
Smoking allowed inside, buzzz killl for me I hate smoke
Cool atmosphere on the strand, had a good crowd when I was there still a fun and friendly environment not a bunch of people pushin' and shovin' to get to the bar. Â
Reasonable prices
Okay this place was awesome! Â After me & my friends ate at Gumbo Bar for lunch we came here for a couple of beers. Â It kind of feels like you are in an old school saloon. Â They have a bar, and tables and the doors were open and a nice breeze ran through the place. Â They have about 10 -12 craft drafts on tap and then a ton more in bottles. Â What I liked most about the beer selection on draft is that they weren't all Texas craft brews. Â Okay I know, yeehaw we make local beer, but sometimes I want a Stone IPA or Deschutes Coffee Porter... so this place had a mix of both Texas craft brews and other well known craft brews. Â I decided to have the Lagunitas Brown Shugga, which is delicious, kudos to you Brews Brothers for making my Sunday afternoon a little more special. Â Also noted - bad ass jukebox with every song you could ever imagine on it, even a Selena cover of the Pretenders "Back on a Chain", which yes of course, we played! Â :)
Review Source:If you're looking for one of - if not - *the* biggest craft beer selections in Galveston, Brews Brothers Brew Pub is where it's at.
They have a massive list of draught, bottled, and canned beers, mead, cider ... and a few brews of their own. Unfortch, the three times that I've visited BBBP they were completely out. The barkeep told me they don't have big enough equipement to make giant batches, and when they do have a new brew, it completely sells out.
They also have wine, but nothing special, which is no big deal; you're at a brew pub after all. There's a cigar "lounge" in the back, local art on the walls, a few TVs showing sports, clean restrooms, and bar, table and couch seating.
The only area I think the bar could improve on is to not serve their fantastic beer in plastic cups. (This isn't always the case, but I'm curious to know why we got plastic cups this last time.) Additionally, word is that they're going to soon expand the bar and their equipment in order to make more brew and cater to the high demand. That's good news!
I specifically sought this place out to introduce my boyfriend to the Strand, because as a Texas transplant (NY native) Â he had never been.
Their selection of beers is amazing. They have 3 Maine brews. There are ciders as well as several gluten free beers. They have framboise on tap. They have mead. There is local artwork on the walls.
And, the people are a motley krewe of theatre nerds, rennies, Â and genuine hotties.
I wish this bar was in Houston.
Man this is the place to be on the Strand. Craft beers galore, friendly helpful staff, cigar room. The place is wide open and really is kind of like a punk rock brew pub in my mind. We set next to a guy who had his huge Husky dog with him. Played Black Flag on the Juke Box, and just enjoyed the rough around the edges relaxed vibe. Did I mention the beards? Â Heck there are more beards here then I have seen in a long while. You don't have to have a beard to come here but it is a plus I think. The prices were reasonable as well. Make this the first stop on the Strand and it might be your only stop since it is a great place to chill.
Review Source:Came in here on a Tuesday night. Â I had never been in here before, but heard they carried a good selection of craft beers. Â I walked by the place with the intention of going in only if it looled inviting and low-key. Â It did, but I hear it can be quite crowded at times. Â In any case, it was exactly what I was looking for on a rainy, Â early Tuesday evening. Â There were only a handful of people in there and I easily found an uncrowded seat at the bar. Â They indeed have a great selection of craft brews on tap and in bottles, including many bombers. Â Great local selection as well those from afar. Â In fact, all they have is craft beer, except for a small, but adequate selection of wine, and a few other odds and ends. Â However, they will be adding a kitchen soon.
The bartender's name was Nate, I believe, who was very friendly, Â knowledgable and easy to talk to about beers, brewing, etc. Â They apparently have a 100 gallon in-house brewery being delivered real soon with the first batch projected to be available for consumption in April.
This is a great place, and a must-visit for any beer lover who happens to be in Galveston.
Woohoo! As good as it gets! A large, open space that manages to feel very homey (and barely like Texas) The long bar has plenty of seats and there are a few tables and even couches to lounge around in. That's where I settled in, a nice comfy spot on the couch and chatted up a few (already drunk) regulars.
A top-notch beer selection and charming bartenders on one of the greatest and charmiest sections of the island. I still don't understand the closing at 2am part, though. Odd.
Great beer selection and service is awesome; I honestly believe this is my favorite spot on The Strand.
This cigar friendly (they allow cigars throughout the bar, but also have a designated cigar room with tv and cigars for purchase) joint is filled with perhaps the finest craft beer selection in the Galveston area. Â The selection available is great for every palate and they rotate what's available in bottle and on draft. Â I've tried something different each time I've been here and not walked away disappointed.
The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. Â If you're not a beer aficionado, don't be afraid to ask questions... tell the barkeep what your preferences are and they'll find something to your liking. Â If it's on draft, they'll give you a taste if you're not wanting to jump in with both feet. Â Anytime I'm in Galveston, it will include a stop at Brews Brothers!
Me and the hubby (both beer snobs) love it here! Brews brothers has a fantastic craft beer selection at fair prices, with a good number of them on tap. The bartenders are helpful and will recommend beers if you're unfamiliar with what's currently on the menu. It's nice to see some of our favorite beers and breweries at a bar. They also have wines for those who don't dig beer. Don't go in expecting to order a cocktail or a mass-produced beer, as they don't have any. We usually go to trivia on Wednesdays, which is fun but usually very crowded. Weekends are actually less crowded than Wednesdays and there is often live music, making them a good time to swing by. Occasionally they will have other events with representatives from breweries and sometimes there's even free swag (like beer glasses).
Basically if you like craft beers this is the place to be.
Walking down the Strand on a summer Wednesday afternoon, my wife and I noticed this fairly new craft beer establishment and walked in.
Inside, the dim lights and strong A/C were a comfortable contrast from the intense sun and heat outside. The interior decor kept that old-town Galveston feel and showcased craft beer from around the world. It made us crave a cold beer even more.
The place was empty, not even a bartender in sight but within seconds, we were greeted by a bearded gentleman who introduced himself as Johnny and told us to sit anywhere at his bar. Noticing us reading their large selection, he asked what we liked. I was craving something bitter, so he served me up a limited edition double IPA and it was delicious.
Over the course of a few beers, Johnny impressed us with his friendliness and craft beer enthusiasm. He also mentioned Brews Brothers is pet friendly and told us to bring our English bulldog next visit.
They also had a cigar lounge and will eventually be serving food. I wasn't really interested in those but what excited me is they will soon have on-site micro-brewing! We will definitely be back when that starts up.
I love this new addition to the strand! Since its such a touristy area most places do not have a good selection of beer, but Brews Brothers changes all of that!
We walked in around 7 and the place was empty. So we sat down at the bar to chat with the bar tender. I could tell he knew is beers. And I knew he knew beers because he had a beard. I have decided that beards are were men store their beer knowledge. No offense to beer lovers without beards, but all the guys I know that are very into beer have beards.
They have about 20 beers on tap and lots of bottles to supplement the taps. They also have a pretty good wine list for all the wives that don't like beer. Do not come here looking for any of the big three. The bartender put it a good way "We do not serve beer you see on TV." Think about it. I do wish they would have more Texas Beers though.
There are tons of bar seats and many tables so you can sit where you prefer. There is also a fuseball table for your amusement. There is also a huge TV over the bar, and another TV back in another room that has an N64.
They also have cigars for you to smoke. They do allow you to smoke them in the bar which is good for cigar smokers, but not that great for the rest of us. When we were there no one was smoking and the smell was just in the background. But my parents walked by one time and it was very smoky so they did not stop in.
Right now the bar is a little rough looking but is totally worth a stop for some craft beer. It is also at the end of the strand. So unless you are looking for it you won't see it most likely. But we were able to park on the street really close for free after 6 and free all day on Sundays.
Every time I am in Galveston, I will "drag" my husband here!
Don't know anything about craft beers? Don't worry! Go to Brews Brothers Brew Pub! The way Justin describes each beer you'll want to try everything on tap. This guy KNOWS BEER. I casually mentioned "Pliny the Elder" (info I stole from my cousin) and, without a word, Justin walks away and sits an empty bottle of the same in front of me. I had the Brooklyn Brown Ale and my friend and I split the Curvee Jacobin Rouge. Had we stayed in a hotel near the Strand, we would have stayed all afternoon and into the evening. Eventually, these guys will be brewing their own beer and offering food. If you like craft beers (or just like beer) don't miss this place!
