Friendly waitstaff with decent food. In general I find the dining room to be a bit stuffy, but this is definitely a safe option for dinner if you need one but nothing above average about this place.   Food is pretty good, wait staff is pretty friendly, ambiance is unmemorable.

Not bad.  Not great.  We had wonderful service but the food was just OK.  Decent clam chowder, below average scallops, good swordfish.

The decor is Cape Cod weathered but a little too worn.  Peeling wallpaper and musty smell.  Needs a bit of updating.

Our first time here, and we will be back!

Stopped in late Friday night after a long drive to the Captain Freeman B & B down the street.

A friendly warm welcome, gracious service, even though we were late arrivals, and the last to leave for the evening.

And, yes the food was excellent!  The scallops were particularly well prepared, succulent, sweet, perfectly hot arriving at the table at exactly the correct time.

The Scrod was a very generous portion, again well prepared!

My family has been going here for many years. I have been here twice in the last 4 years. The service is friendly, the areas clean and the noise level is good. Comfortable dining areas in this 150+ year old Inn.
The wine is served is slightly small glasses. I had the Santa Anna Malbec and it was good, but not a very good or great vintage. I started with a very nice Lentil soup and for dinner I went for comfort food and tried the Prime Rib Pot Pie with an Apple Cobbler side. It was excellent! Piping hot throughout with an excellent crust. The cobbler was a perfect complement.
My wife had the British Fish & Chips. They were excellent as well, but she especially liked their cole slaw and she is not a big slaw lover.

My wife & I, and our friend Tom, decided to try the Brewster Inn & Chowder House because it was just up the street from the Captain
Freeman Inn where my wife & I were staying. We're glad we did!
Ironically, none of us ordered the clam chowder, but our entrees, Yankee Pot Roast, and the Beef Pot Pie were both excellent, with
homemade flavor and good sized portions. Included in the entree
price was a choice of a soup or salad. Our salads were nice & fresh, and Tom liked his lamb soup very much. Our waitress was excellent and very friendly & attentive. Best of all, the meals were very reasonably priced for the quality! All in all, a most enjoyable dining
    experience!

I have never seen a coca cola served in such a small glass. Chowder very good but French fries terrible. The decor is ok with me  a little dim but I will eat on the side of the road anywhere for a good chowder.

We (me, wife & friends) stopped by last night.  Great friendly staff, and very fresh/sweet oyster & scallop rolls.  They often have great music in the attached Woodshed.

Most of the menu is fried, overpriced and bland.. I guess there is not a lot of selection in the area, but this wouldn't be my first choice for a return trip. It really was not very good.

We pulled into the driveway during a rainy day cruise of the cape.

This place has it's charm.  I don't thimk they've ever redecorated but the flowery wallpaper, lacey curtains and crown molding actually work.

The service is slow but we weren't in a hurry.  My friend and I enjoyed some wine and watched the rain.  Our sandwiches were the highlight of the lunch.  I had a Cap Cod reuben and she had a regular reuben.  They were both hot, toasty deliciousness.  Best of all, they were normal sized.  I hate wasting large portions when I'm on vacation.

I wouldn't call it a "must" but this place was pretty good. Chowder was very good. Broiled scallops were very good. Sides were pleasing. Very quiet and comfortable setting. Service was truly stellar. I'm only giving it 4 because none of the food was the best I'd ever had. The price is more about the setting, which is very nice, but I'd rather pay for primo food.

A receipt here from gets you into the woodshed lounge for free, but that place didn't impress me.

Stumbled upon this place while hungry after a beach visit.

The interior is warm and welcoming. I did feel like I was at someone's grandmother's house. We came in about 1pm on a Thursday afternoon and were greeted by a couple of people at a table looking like they were pouring over meal tickets and a bartender.

The chowder was loaded with clams and potatoes, this is a very good thing! My only gripe with the chowder was that, contrary to the other review, wasn't thick enough. It was exactly drinking clam juice, but it wasn't as substantial as I would like. For my main lunch plate, I had the fried scallops.

This would be a cool place to sit at the bar and watch tv with a bunch of friends. I don't think I'd come back for a meal, but it isn't too terrible.

Mediocre. Unless you enjoy gooey clam chowder, fish that reeks of bleach and wilted salad - skip this place. It looked charming enough. Harmless enough.TV on the tavern side , Muzak Stevie Wonder playing, captains' chairs. Our spoiled fish was removed from our tab but the taste lingered. What kitchen allows fish to be served like that?
We should have stayed in Chatham and suffered at the Squire. There your mediocre food doesn't make you wonder if you will have to visit the ER later in the day. The decor made us feel warm and fuzzy. Floral wall paper and lots of windows. So we remained cheerful and tipped the waitress well. Wasn't her fault. Parking in Rear. Two beers on tap.
House wine very inexpensive. Glasses were not clean. Won't visit it again.
