Buckles Lounge

It's definitely a trucker bar - but in the best sense.  Good people, American Beer, whiskey, cigarettes, and a Jukebox.  Brings you back to what a bar is supposed to be.  Dropped in here twice on crosscountry trips.  Once in the middle of a snow storm, and I can't tell you how nice it was to walk into this place.  Now I always stop by here when I'm in Amarillo!

The sweetest bartender in the universe, a vending machine that sells candy and cigarettes, and a bizarre melange of locals, truckers, and road tripper make this an outstanding place to grab a beer.  Grab a bite to eat at the Big Texan, then walk over to Buckles for the after-dinner fun.

I was on a cross country road trip with my friend. We heard about this place from our waiter at the Big Texan Steak House who we, yes, picked up. He suggested we meet here after his shift ended.

A stellar start to the night already, right?

Anyways, we stroll in and are the only two girls in the place. This bar is a trucker bar so it's frequented by, well, truckers. I'm not sure whether it was the sheer novelty or maybe we were already tanked from dinner but the night here was a highlight of my life. We spent hours drinking with some old guys and hearing their awesome stories of being on the road. The people are genuinely kind, outgoing, and the bartender pours em strong. Bless her heart. What more can you ask for?
