Eaten here a number of times but this last time, I think I will go to Wesley's from now on. Â Had the fried oysters twice now, and you can't even tell there were oysters in there! Â All breading. Â And their idea of a salad and my idea of a salad are two very different things. Â Just wasn't worth the money...
Review Source:Buck's Sucks!
I have eaten here about 5 times throughout the last 8 years. The reason: it is close to my mother's house and when my Papa is in town visiting from Portugal, some days he prefers to stay close.
This last visit will absolutely be our last. I am not sure if it was because we walked in with a Black man, or the European waitress recognized my Papa from his last visit, but it was by far the ABSOLUTE WORST "dinning" experience EVER. On his last venture to Buck's, my grandfather pointed out that if they were going to add gratuity, perhaps they should mention it while handing you the check. This sent the waitress into an absolute tizzy and the fit began.
Even though he had dealt with her unprofessionalism, he decided to give it another shot (mostly because he wanted a martini without having to travel too far to get one)
Anyway, once we walked in, we were stared at by the 16 year old hostess. I walked up to her and told her there were 3 of us. The 16 year old (bus?) boy seated us. And that's where we waited. and waited. and waited. I finally asked the man making omlettes if he knew where our waitress was. About 5 minutes later, she came out and stood at the hostess stand and the 16 year old hostess pointed at us. To this the waitress rolled her eyes, went to another table, and disappeared back into the kitchen.
The waitress finally came to our table and told us that we could go get brunch and walked away. (brunch was being served until 1 and it was 1255)........
To this we called her back and I informed her that no one informed us that it was still brunch only and that it would have been helpful to know. My papa asked her if we could order off the lunch menu and she said "sure" and walked away. We called her back again and asked if we were able to order drinks????
So after her walking away so many times and having to wait 15 minutes for her to even greet us, I wasn't in the mood to spend any more time or money there.
We waited about 10 minutes to get his Martini and my friend and I got our waters. While he was sipping his libation, I asked my Papa how badly he wanted the prime rib because I was in no mood to stay there and put up with the rudeness. Now mind you, it wasn't just the waiting/being ignored that bothered me, or the unprofessionalism of the very young staff running the joint, but  the way this waitress conducted herself in such a fidgety, nervous manor. She could not even stand in front of our table without trying to run the other way. It was bizarre and annoying.
We asked for the check, and to no one's surprise, no manager ever came out to see what the problem was. To me that speaks volumes to the level of service provided here.
I have actually eaten the overpriced, fried, and frozen food here during previous visits. Gross, gross, gross!
Take the ten minute trip to North East and dine at someplace like Woody's. They are completely welcoming and serve FRESH food. And in the end, isn't that what we are looking for in a dining experience?
The absolute worst place I have ever eaten at. Maybe we came at a bad time, but I had an awful experience. We came on a Monday for lunch so the dining area was closed and we ate in the bar. No big deal. It started off poorly right after that though. When the waitress delivered the coffee to our table, she spilled some on my leg. No apology, not even an acknowledgement. Later I asked for a coffee refill when the waitress had a chance. With the look I received in return I thought I asked for her first born child.
Next was the food. The only highlight of the experience was the crab bisque, which I guess earns this place its one star rating. When the food came out, I could tell almost no one at the table was happy with it. It was either too small for the price, or plain looked unappetizing. My mom ordered the house salad, which was the size of a side salad. But that wasn't the worst part. The dressing, which was ordered to be balsamic vinegar, more resembled motor oil and hamburger grease. I ordered the burger since the menu touted they specialize in black angus beef. How could it be bad? Nope, it was awful and I felt sick for the rest of the day.
After our terrible meal we received an outrageous bill. As a family we have eaten at restaurants ten times the quality for half the price. For the quality of food this place is completely overpriced.
As a bonus, we had some intelligent gentlemen at the table next to us discussing how they wish the South would have won the Civil War because they would keep the blacks out. Very classy.
Overall this place had awful food and managed to have even worse service. Avoid this place at all cost.
