Great place for a drink or a casual meal - clean, pretty and nice porch seating as well.

Cherry blue burger is a great idea and pretty tasty. The drive thru is a little slow but really good coffee and chai lattes. It has a nice patio and it allows dogs on the patio.

Corn beef hash for breakfast was great.  Lots of hipsters hanging out watch movies on computers though, so seating may be sketchy.

We returned this year (2013) and found Bud's to be as fabulous as it was last year!  Our only issue this time was that when we were there they had cut back on the availability of berry pies.

Having dropped my son off now three years in a row for camp at Interlochen, my wife and I were under the impression that Bud's was only an ice cream parlor and almost went back into Traverse City for lunch before leaving town.  It turns out that Bud's is everything you could want - breakfast, doughnuts, burgers, wraps, and more.  All fresh and delicious.  I had the steak sandwich which was above average and my wife had the Encore sandwich which she said was delicious.  I washed my steak sandwich down with a very good chocolate milkshake.  If you're in the Interlochen area, Bud's is a great choice for a quick bite, a relaxing lunch on the porch or a cozy place to gather with a few friends.

I like Bud's. They have really nice staff and the service is solid. There are a couple veggie options for breakfast and lunch. Open WiFi, a fireplace and a cozy dining area make for a good spot to nestle down for awhile. I'm not sure what to make of the item on the coffee menu named Ronald Reagan. The rest of the world calls it an americano. I thought maybe it would come with jelly beans ;-)

Food tastes good, if on the pricey-ish side.  We had the mushroom soup, a reuben, and a zinger salad to share the other day.  2 soups, 1 sandwich, 1 salad set us about 30.00.  I guess if you work that out to about 10 dollars per person, its reasonable enough.  It definitely tasted awesome, we had our customary bubble tea to go too.  We recently found out that you can add bubbles to any drink, boba with a hot drink, a revelation.  It is all good.

Took the family to Bud's during a visit to Interlochen Arts Camp in early August.

GREAT atmosphere--they have tons of interesting things on the wall to look at, from fishing to winter/ski to music to etc.  It was great to visit in the summer, with patio tables outside, big windows inside to sit next to.  Several kids from the camp were there grabbing a bite, and adding to the atmosphere by giving amusing names when ordering their sandwiches (so when the order is called, the clerk calls out "Gandalf!"  or "Shrek!" or whatever name they gave).  Bud's has a big fireplace, with tables and checkerboards next to it so I can imagine that this is a very cozy hangout in the winter, as well.   The restaurant has a little "gift shop" with fun Michigan trinkets, music-related items, scarves, jams, mixes for dip, etc. and it's fun to look at everything while you await your order.

We ordered sandwiches for dinner, that we enjoyed a lot.  Chicken salad sandwich was delicious, good mix of chicken, crunchy veg, and mayo.  The guys enjoyed their Fanfare and Encore as well.

But best of all, we ordered drinks for dessert--thanks to Yelpers, we didn't miss the Chocolate Shake!!!  TERRIFIC.  We also got a rootbeer float, and thought it was super special as well.

    Check it out.

Reasonable food at reasonable prices for the most part, although chicken was overcooked and dry in chicken Caesar wrap. Service tonight was miserable - 50 minute wait for food AFTER a 20 minute wait in line to order it. Restaurant staff was indifferent to our situation, and ignored our request to speak to a manager.  Bright spot was a busboy who noticed us waiting for an extended time and offered to help. My bad for not seeking him out afterwards for a personal thank you.  Might try this place again to see if this was an anomaly, as there are few decent eating spots in the Interlochen area.

Really good iced coffee (and pretty cheap, too), donuts, and food (what I've tried, at least).  I had the stuffed egg croissant for breakfast and it was AMAZING.  So good.

I'm working at Interlochen Center for the Arts this summer, and have spent quite a few of my days off here.  It's a nice place to hang out if you just want to get off campus for a little while.

There's a weird gift-shop-like thing at the entrance as you first walk in.  Lots of overpriced miscellaneous stuff...it seems out of place.  Wish there was just a simple display of things like Bud's coffee, mugs, etc rather than all the clutter.

I'll definitely be trying the ice cream sometime before I leave town.

This is the place to hit if you're in the Inty area. Delicious food and ice cream. I really like the Philly Steak sandwich in particular.

We stopped at Bud's en route from a long weekend up north -- my partner had never been to Interlochen so I made a detour through the village. We were getting hungry, and Bud's (which wasn't there the last time I'd been in town) looked really interesting and inviting.

We were not disappointed. We enjoyed the funky "up north" atmosphere almost as much as we enjoyed our burgers and fries. The staff was also friendly and efficient. It looks like a really comfortable place to spend an entire afternoon noshing/sipping coffee/talking with friends or doing laptop work. We'd certainly go back for another meal. (And I really want to try that turkey/cranberry sauce sandwich I almost ordered the first time!)

    Terrible breakfast.
Eggs: one normal, one cold and hard like rubber
    Toast: awful
    Bacon: greasiest ever
Hash Browns: Non-existent -- the cashier told us they didn't prep the potatoes the night before.
    LAZY LAZY LAZY
We have been joking about those bad eggs all week. I have never been served a worse egg for breakfast anywhere, and to have two, one OK and one SO bad is absurd. Lazy kitchen.

Found this place through Yelp when I was Up North during this Summer. It's very different from all of the cafe/dine around this area in a good way. Great breakfast, we ended up came back again the next morning for breakfast again. Their Donut is a huge surprise, SO DELICIOUS!! Will come back here again next year!
P.S. their shopping section is cute too, has a lot of fun camping related stuff. Check it out if you have time.

I have been frequenting Bud's a lot lately, especially with the fudgies in town! I love the location. It's a cute little place decorated all Northern Michigany. It also has great outdoor seating.

The first time I came here I got the burger on special, it was pretty good, but now I stick with the Western BBQ burger or the cherry chicken salad sandwich( if i'm feeling lighter that day). Both are delicious, though they have a tendency to over cook the burgers. And I always, always get the strawberry lemonade soda. It is perfect on a hot summer day.

And on top of everything this place has red velvet ice cream. Pure Heaven. Good coffee drinks too!

This place has it all - great food (from a bowl of hot oatmeal to really good burgers like the olive burger or the cherry bleu burger to fresh soups and wonderful sweets), friendly service, cool stuff to browse and buy, and on Thursday evening, great local music talent (Jim Hawley).  It really is as good as a casual cafe gets!

Some of the greatest memories I have from working at Interlochen Arts Camp this summer were the times I spent at Bud's. Delicious food, great ice cream, AMAZING coffee, and the best donuts I've had in my life (made fresh EVERY morning). We would always stop here on our days off to grab a coffee and a donut before heading out to the beach. Every Sunday morning, the Assistant Director of our division would bring in two boxes of Bud's donuts and the counselors couldn't be happier.

They also have really amazing ice cream, that they make themselves. I would go there for the Chicken Caesar wraps, which are phenomenal. The kids also really enjoyed it, whenever the counselors would plan trips down to grab ice cream or food at Bud's.

Another great thing about Bud's is the staff. They are friendly, personable, have a great sense of humor and are just plan interesting to talk to. The morning I packed up my cabin and left Interlochen was sad, because I had spent probably the best summer of my life there. As I began my drive back to Chicago, I stopped at Bud's and picked up a large coffee and three of their sugar donuts. Now in the dead of winter in Champaign-Urbana, I think about those mornings at Bud's and can't wait for the summer so I can go back!

Cute little place in a sea of fast-food chains.  Lots of cute/kitschy gift items and rustic charm.  The food was pretty good but largely priced for the quality.  I paid $8 for a chicken sandwich in which I would have anticipated not having a previously frozen patty.

This is a great place for coffee, tea, panini's, burgers, salads, ice cream, sorbet, trinkets, gifts, coffee mugs, decorative art, jewelry...and probably more.  The staff is friendly, the entire place was very clean, excellent outdoor seating, and if I am in the area again, I will definitely go back again!

My husband and I love to take the kids on an icecream road trip to Bud's on Sunday afternoons.  He was very surprised by the very reasonable prices.  His hot fudge brownie sundae was huge.  The kids enjoy the cake batter or superman icecreams.  As for me, the Eskimo Kisses is to die for!  I swear by it.  Real coconut flakes, fudge swirls and chunks of chocolate truffles.  I have also had a sugar free, nonfat vanilla latte which was wonderful.
Great atmosphere, I hear the food is good too.

When you're a summer staffer at Interlochen, this is the place you go when you are hoping to get away from camp. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  It can be a lovely respite from the chaos of camp, where you can sit and quietly read a book with a cup of tea, or it can be jam-packed full of students, counselors, and staff.

I haven't had a full meal here, but my usual order is an iced soy chai latte.  They use a boxed mix (I believe it's Oregon Chai) and the strength varies depending on the barista.  However, they do always have soymilk, which is not the case in other local cafes.  The cookies are good, as are the scones, but I try not to over-indulge since I'm already getting quite the bombardment of sugar and fat at the Interlochen cafeteria.  On my last trip I also tried a scoop of the raspberry pomegranate sorbet, which was a good sized portion and great on a warm summer night.

Very good, very fresh sandwiches, generously sized. We liked their ice cream, breakfast entries with a good quality coffee, and the  nice  & welcoming  young crew. The restaurant is  self serve with both indoor and outdoor sitting.
The most convenient place near the Interlochen Arts Center.  A great place to take out from.
Summer scene: camp counselors might be hanging up there, otherwise couples, families young and elderly all enjoying the place.

Now, I'm a faithful Ware's Bro fan, but sometimes its just a bit too far to get with 4 or so kids in strong desire of ice cream.

    So, hey Bud's...let's do this!

1 scoop of Strawberry: My nephew informed me it was the "best strawberry ice cream he had ever had in his whole life." I tasted it, pretty close...though his life is only 4 years long, so hopefully his tastebuds experience even better in his ice cream training to come.

1 scoop Superman: My niece polished this off like a champ, and managed to rainbowfy her entire shirt, face and hands...success!

Oreo for my brother, peanut butter for me, and cookie dough for my sister in law. I even sprung for coffee...hey, they have it...so why not!? It was good :)

    Total cost $10.23. Seriously. Yep.

Great amount of seating, a sandwich menu, WIFI,  cool rustic feel, and Interlochen school has a playground right next door if the kids feel the sugar buzz and need to run it off a bit before bed (oops, sorry!).

Perfect for a fun little family outing, to catch up with pals or a quick snack on your way to/from concerts at Interlochen.

Stevie says try the Strawberry, of course. :)

I had a bowl of beef barley soup, and my dining companion had what looked like a pastrami sandwich. The soup was good, but a bit light on the amount of beef and barley. I didn't try the sandwich, but it looked good and was of a generous size. We didn't try the ice cream goodies, but the menu sounded attractive. Prices were reasonable too.

This is a big hangout for staff members from the nearby Interlochen Center for the Arts camp; you'll see lots of folks there in the camp uniform.
