I was going to BW3s in the midwest over 20 years ago. They were amazing. Â The W3 stood for wild wings and weck (a German style roll). Â You could get good wings, good beef on weck (or chicken) and beer for a great price in a cool atmosphere (each one was different) and play a little trivia. Â They were great places to eat, drink, talk, listen to music, and hang out. Â Many felt like neighborhood bars (in the best possible sense).
Fast forward to 2013. I was so excited to hear BW3 was coming to central PA. Â I had missed it for many years.
What a pisser of an experience. Â The music was so loud our ears literally rang when we left. Â We couldn't talk at all. Â Even people cheering for the games were drowned out. Â Our waitress couldn't hear us even when we yelled. Â She apologized for the loudness, but it never changed.
The huge space left absolutely no chance for the fun environment I experienced in many a BW3 in the midwest.
The food was horrible.  Seriously  horrible.  My kids and I tried the wings with three difference sauces.  The wing skin was flacid and rubbery.  The sauces were terrible.  The lemon pepper wing seasoning reminded me of lemon scented cleanser.  The honey bbq was clunky and the Caribbean Jerk was worse than unforgettable.  And, while I talking about food, where the hell is the beef on weck?  One other thing, the wings appeared to have been on a diet.  They were scrawny.  I couldn't believe I just paid about a dollar a piece for 1.5 bites of food.
Service was sketchy. Â It took a long time to get food.
It was $2.49 for a small soda. Â For $1.00 I could have gone to McDonald's down the street. In fact, I could have gotten a similar meal at McDonald's for a price much more in line with the value and flavor. Â In fact, I'd say Chicken Selects, Fries, and a soda at McD's would have been better.
