On the  hellish day in Sacramento when the temperature reached 107 degrees, the boyfriend and I looked around for a cool place to eat and drink some ice cold beers. Searching for a place we haven't been to, that was also nearby, we stumbled upon Bull Wings Bar and Grill.
Entering the restaurant you are almost overwhelmed with all the flat screen TVs playing various sports games as well as the pool tables that are available. We were seated upon arrival in a booth and given our menus. The menu is made up of your typical sports bar foods; sandwiches, burgers, salads, and pizzas. They also have a good amount of appealing appetizers such as tacos, nachos and fries topped with various sinful ingredients. Of course there is the obvious wings with different sauces availabe in both regular bone in wings or bonless.
We started with the obvious choice...BEER.. and to soak it all up, ordered a basket of 6 boneless, original flavored, hot wings, a guacamole burger with side salad for the boyfriend and the fish and chips entree that came with a side salad for myself.
The wings came and they were just okay. They weren't very saucy, nor spicy, just okay. They came with a large number of carrot sticks and celery that I enjoyed more than the wings themselves.
After the dissapoinment of the wings, I will honestly say that I wasn't expecting much from our entrees, however upon the arrival and tasting of both entrees, I can admit that my theory was proven to be false. The guacamole burger was very flavorful. The meat patty as well as the thick slices of real bacon were a welcome surprise. My fish and chips were crispy and a great entree pick. The tarter sauce, not sure if made in house or store bought, was speckled with a bunch of dill pickles, which I loved. The side salads that came with the entrees were HUGE. I ended up not even touching mine and taking it home to enjoy for lunch the next day. So if you don't have a large appetite and order an entree, ask for the dressing on the side so you can take home a crispy garden salad.
The prices were very reasonable as well. 6 boneless wings with carrots and celery is $5.99. The guacamole burger with a side salad substitute was $8.49 and my fish and chips which comes with fries AND a salad was a measly $9.99.
Bull Wings Bar & Grill is a definate must try for anyone who is a fan of good, enexpensive food, sports bars, or just a place to hang out with friends and enjoy a beer....or three.
Finding a place to hang out in Elk Grove? This place is a great place to hang out with a group of friends. They have many arcade machines, pool tables, and other activities. The wings here are okay, not the best, but still edible. I've tried a variety of their sauces and so far, my favorite flavor is the original sauce. They have a full bar with many different liquor and beer selections. Music is loud, and people can get a little rowdy here. Service is good but a little slow because you have to wave down the servers a few times to get their attention. Ambiance is lively and dim lighting. Come here to have a good time with your friends or to hang out and chill.
