We live near State College and whenever we are in the Williamsport area, a stop in the Bullfrog is a must. We love the beer and the food! We are "hopheads" and love what the Bullfrog has for us. Recommend this place strongly!

This place alone made me almost want to move to Williamsport.
Almost. I hate snow, and I'm more likely to see it in Pennsylvania than Tennessee, so...
I got to come here twice during my husband's and my recent visit to this area of Pennsylvania (he only got to eat here once and is immensely jealous). My first visit was on a Thursday night for a bachelorette party. The bride was from Hughesville, and this was her favorite restaurant. We got there around 7, and it was already pretty packed. However, the five of us were able to snag a table pretty quickly. I had eaten a decent-sized lunch about 5 hours earlier and was still kinda feeling it, so I only had an order of sweet potato fries. I wasn't expecting (or wanting) much, but our server hooked me up and  brought me a gigantic plate of fries. We had a really good time, even though we had to shout at each other toward the end of dinner because a band started playing.
I talked about this place so much that night that my husband really wanted to go, so we went for lunch the next day. We both ordered burgers and fries. I'd like to say that I remembered exactly which ones, but I get a little behind on my reviews from time to time, and our trip to Pennsylvania was two months ago, so...(and the link to the restaurant's website is no working). Just trust me when I say they were really, really good.
If we lived anywhere near Williamsport, this would be one of our hangs.

*Parking is a little tricky during the weekdays, though.

Good food and beer! The burgers and fries were great and I enjoyed the beer sampler, the OP Tight was by far my favorite. Since I was out of town I didn't have a growler so I bought one and gad UT filled for $20, great deal!

Love the Edgar IPA. I also had the amphibious inferno jumbo wings and I have to tell ya...the combination provides an extra burn down the pipes. Good stuff for a spice lover. Love the music as well. Nice comfortable cushions chairs with arm rests are good for a quick nap after a few pints.

I grew up in Williamsport, but have lived in Philadelphia for over 8 years now.  Every single time I go back, I have to have a night (or a brunch) at the bullfrog.  Their home beers are phenomenal, and their ambiance is the perfect mix of chill, trendy, and comfortable.  My sisters' band used to play here often, and even when the place was PACKED, service didn't lack. Their are many choices of food for the different clientele (Wilpo has everyone from Pennsyltuckians to Hipsters visiting the same establishments) and as I mentioned above, their range of home brewed beers is delicious.

Probably my favorite all-around restaurant in Williamsport.  The ambiance is awesome, the food is delicious, and the prices are just my style.

Now, apparently their beers are awesome, but I don't drink beer. I wish I did, probably give this place 5 stars.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it gets awfully loud and busy when there's someone playing.  The acoustics make it impossible to enjoy your meal if you're not enjoying what's playing.

Do yourself a favor and try and salmon sandwich...amazing.

I've eaten and drank here a lot over the years, and everything is generally very good. I love their Bistro Steak, along with their burgers and their mini-pizza things. They also have a lot of great dinners, and some of them are leaning more towards fine dining, more-so recently. Their micro-brewed beers tend to rotate with the seasons, but there are always a bunch of standard beers they craft. I love to buy a sampler plate to try all of them, but I will say that many of them are on the extra bitter/hoppy side. If you prefer more bitter beers, you'll be in heaven at the Bullfrog, but if your tastes differ there are usually some excellent beers that aren't as bitter (right now I love the Blackberry JuJu and the Dipstick beers). They also server breakfeast/brunch, but I wasn't too impressed by what I had for it, though the french toast was great. Really my only problem with the Bullfrog is that it's definitely on the small side, and it can be pretty crowded depending on when you go. Still, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant/bar.

Really not a beer drinker, but I do appreciate a place that makes it right on the premises.  Come hungry, leave full. I've never been let down by Bullfrog's fare.  Lots of vegetarian options, and several vegan right on the menu.  They are even willing to customize things to make things vegan for you - bonus!

The only complaint is when there is a band, it is MICKYFICKY loud in there.

The Bullfrog is the best place to eat/drink in Williamsport, hands down.

Great Dinner. Jerk Chix a super dish...beer was fabulous. Definitely will be going back!

What an awesome local brewery... Friendly staff and 8 of their own beers literally brewed on premises. The major brewing is done in the copper tanks as soon as you walk in the door and then the fermentation and holding tanks are engine the bar! How awesome to have it all going on right there. The only negative is the hop smell from the cooking process is a bit overwhelming but that's because they were brewing an ipa this morning.

Getting on to the food... Omg yum! We had the ok smokey and Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich with garlic battered beer fries...yumyumyum. The beer was big and juicy with this awesome brioche bread made locally... Wow... I need some bread now! Def a great place to stop along the way.

Been here before a few years ago. It was amazing. Today is a whole different story. Service was slow and rude. Burger cooked like a brick. Pulled pork from the grocery shelf. Sad. Never asked once by Katie how things were. Keep driving if you think about stopping.

Visited on business and heard about this place through word of mouth.  When I walked in, I expected a dark hole in the wall neighborhood bar but what I got was a brightly lit-by-the-sun open space with giant brew tanks everywhere and cute hippie decorations.

The bartender was helpful when I told him I like Belgians, so he suggested the seasonal Belgian wit brewed with blueberries.  Wasn't overly sweet like most blueberry beers and left just the right amount on my palette.  They had other home-brewed choices that looked good (and all served in the appropriate glass), but I didn't get to try those.

Bruschetta appetizer was phenom and the sirloin steak was just okay, but cooked perfectly.  It could have used a little more seasoning, in my opinion.

I'd like to go back and try more of their beers and bar fare, for sure.

    Likes:
    - They had a lot of vegetarian options.
    - Loved their beer selection and thought the Arrgro Wheat was one of the best beers that I ever had.
    - Good menu
    - Large portions

    Dislikes:
    - Service was a little slow and waitress didn't seem to happy to serve us- also took forever to get the check
    - Pretty noisy

Price was average. My vegetarian girlfriend and I split the veggie supreme marinara Fajizza, the vegetarian chile, and the tofu wings. The chile was very spicy which I loved and my friend hated. The Fajizza were interesting and I never had them before- sort of like half pizza/ half fajita but still more like a pizza with a very thin crust. It was good but I think pizza is better. The tofu wings were just hard fried cubes in sauce. The sauce was good but the cubes were hard and appeared to be overcooked. For food and service, I would give this place a 3, but for beer, I would give it a 4 or 5.

I really liked the food, no issues there. My only issue was the waiter, who seemed less than pleased to be serving us. At least he came back every so often to check up on us.
My burger was cooked correctly so I have no complains there. My only issue was the beer. I was recommended this place by several locals and out of towners but honestly I wasn't impressed. One of them was okay, but I don't remember the name of it. I'd prefer my usual lager any day really.
I would come back. I'd just get the root beer next time around though.

I am giving this place 5 stars. We were in town for a concert and the fireworks around the 4th. The trick for me when traveling is my extensive list of food allergies, especially gluten. It is hard to find gluten free food choices let alone a gluten free menu in a town you are not familiar with.
Bullfrog had a gluten free menu, quite extensive with a dedicated gluten free fryer! Yeah!! That earns this place 5 stars!! We went there two days in a row.
First day I had wings with chipotle bbq and fries both very flavorful and tasty.
Second day -garlic chicken, unfortunately I would recommend removing this from the menu altogether, just bland, no taste.
Wish we would have gotten the bartneder's name first day-he was awesome!
    Cute place.

Our waiter, Chris provided us with prompt service. Although we didn't take advantage of the microbrews on tap, we enjoyed the Beer Mussels that were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The "Just a Burger" burger was a well-prepared cheeseburger. At 4 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon, this brewery was filled with plenty of local patrons and interesting conversations.

cool, vaguely bohemian atmosphere with frequent live music. microbrewery but all 3 members of my party were underwhelmed by the beer and we tried a few.. cherry kriek needed much more cherry. Belgian style sour brown beer was definitely sour but had no sweetness at all, unlike actual Belgian sours I have tried. the coffee beer they make definitely had  a strong coffee flavor, it was better.. Greek salad was hummus was OK but in general we thought food was just OK, nothing too exciting although i give them kudos for having numerous healthy options and for some creativity on the menu.  nice smiley server , pretty good atmosphere,  a very popular place and a good place to hang out.

I LOVE this place! Every time I come home from school, I make my parents take me! My first time here, my Dad and I both had the sampler which is 7 different beers for $7, and honestly there weren't any we hated! We both agreed we loved the OpTight which was a coffee brewed stout, we even took a growler home with us!

I absolutely love the food here because they cater so well to vegans! You can substitute portobello or tempeh on most things! Their vegan pizza is delicious!! It's just so nice to have a place in the area so vegan friendly-- AND with great beer!

My bf loves microbrews, so based on various reviews we made the trek to Williamsport to check out Bullfrog.  Great idea!   It's located right in downtown W'port.  It was easy to find.  We just parked on the street about a block away because it was a slow Sat.aft.
The food was typical brew-pub food as far as I'm concerned.  Nothing awful, nothing stupendous.  I had the turkey panini, he had the pulled pork.
The beer is the main concern here, and it was excellent.  I was the one driving back to York, so I only had one beer when we first got there.  It was the Apricot Wheat and I really loved it.  Wheaty, with just a touch of apricot, just as the name implies.  The bf is a hop head, so he loved the Edgar Double IPA.  He was also very impressed by the Mondo Calpyso belgian IPA & the Toe-Head Belgian white ale.  He liked the Stark Weiss, but felt it tasted much more like a stoudt than a dark wheat beer.
Overall we had a great experience and will most likely make the trip up the Susquehanna again in the next few months.

5 stars.  Anything less than 5 and the person reviewing has no clue what good microbrew is.  For those reviewers may I suggest the Lodge off of third avenue behind Sheetz for the non-discriminating beer drinker where one may get a nice cold flavorless lager and rub elbows with the resident pennsyltuckians.

Bullfrog Brewery is the main attraction in Williamsport.  And maybe the little league museum if your brats are into that.

I've eaten here on a number of occasions and have always had a good experience.  The food is good and the Bullfrog has one of the more urban atmospheres in Williamsport.

Unfortunately, I can't really comment on the Bullfrog's different brews because . . . well, I tend to prefer watered down/tasteless beer.  haha  Sorry!

All in all, this is a place you need to stop by when in the Williamsport, PA, area.

When I was living in Williamsport, this was one of my regular haunts, and I recently had lunch with a friend here on my most recent trip home.

There's Quizzo on Tuesday nights, at which you can win a $50 gift card, and the rest of the week usually has a pretty full schedule of some other entertainment, often local live music, which is usually quite good.

The selections of there own beer are good, and always changing, aside from their few house beers that are always there (I.E., Billtown Blonde, Apricot Wheat, and a few others I can't think of at the moment).

The menu has changed since I moved away, so I haven't had a chance to check it out fully, but it looks like there may be more options for the vegetarian/vegan than there used to be.  I had the persian platter, which was hummus, babaganoush, pita, and a salad.  The hummus could have used a little more salt, in my opinion, but hey, that's what table salt is for, right?  Other than that, no complaints...the price was right, and the food was good.  I have never once had an issue with the service here.

I'm going back to Williamsport again tomorrow morning, and intend on taking our growler back to the bullfrog to bring home with me.  This is definitely one of the better places to check out in Williamsport, and I wish there were more like this around.

I honestly did not seem to experience any of the charm or see the novelty of this place. It was empty upon arrival. And even so, no one looked up to greet us. We walked around for a minute, and saw an array of merchandise for purcase in a case.
Walked back out to the main room and sat down. About five minutes later a woman holding an infant brought us some menus. Odd.  But she told us she obviously wasn't working but wanted to make sure she was greeted.

The service was odd- three different people served our table of two, and while I was still drinking, they took the beer descriptions from our table. I didn't understand why at the time, but close to leaving, she brought it back with updated information.

I did not like any of the beer. We tried the sampler- which was 4 oz of five different beers for $5. The apricot wheat was the most palatable. I tried Houblonium P-38, Apricot Wheat, Edgar IPA, Double Coffee stout, and Old Toad. The coffee tasted completely like rich coffee beer. Tasting them all together was somewhat sickening, even though I only took sips.
My boyfriend and I both thought they weren't that good for beer period, especially from a brewery.

I'd like to think I didn't get the "real feel" because there were few other patrons and maybe they are what brings this place to life. In my opinion, that isn't the way it should be. The atmosphere of the brewery is what should bring you to life.

This place is awesome. That pretty sums up everything about this Pub.

The atmosphere was really great here. The Pub was relaxing,  modern but had a rustic feel to it, and it was really clean too! The staff was really good and knew what they were talking about. I struck up a conversation with the guy next to me. I was trying to pick a beer and asked him what he liked here because he was a local. Well turns out he works there. This guy really knew his craft and I say that because he actually brew his own beer! He helped me pick a beer and everything he said about the taste was spot on.

The food was pretty good definitely a cut above the rest. Staff was really good and the service was fast!! Food came out hot and fresh.

Go here!! And definitely try the Micro/House brews. They're some of the best.

My visit to the Bullfrog was pretty decent. We stopped on a sunday afternoon a few weeks ago. I had long seen reviews online and heard from friends that the food was delicious. Now I know why its so successful! We ended up getting a table in the far back of the restaurant and placed our order. Our waitress was pretty nice, but our food took quite some time to come out (for a party of 5), something like 45 minutes. We got the french onion soup as an appetizer, and then moved into our main meals.

This is my favorite place in town.

First, their beer is just top notch, probably my favorite beers are served up here.  They keep things rotating, too, which always keeps things fresh.

Their food is definitely above average, and there are some gems on the menu.  Everything is good, but by itself, the food would only earn 4 stars.  Their fries and chips are great, and their house BBQ and ranch sauces are great.  Check out the Funk Burger, too.

    I will be back.

Awesome craft beers, good jazz music during the meal. While sitting at the bar, I struck up a conversation with a guy from Freeport, Maine & Houston, Texas. That gives you an idea of how great of a draw this place is. ;)

Had the soft pretzels & the meatballs w/ penne. The pretzels were awesome, the pasta was about what you'd expect from a brewpub.

This place would do well in Vermont which is saying quite a bit for a brewpub. It's laid back, cool, and tasty.

Heading down 15, and decided it was a time for a beer break.  Found bullfrog with pretty good reviews, and decided it was worth a shot.  It was about 9:30pm on a Thursday night, so I was kinda excited for good service and talk.

Blown away by all of the brewery equipment that was on display as soon as you walk in, and then behind the bar.  It was belittling sitting by the huge fermentation tanks.  Well, we sat and sat, a waitress finally came and said she was just filling in, thanks for finally acknowledging us.

Warning, poor service rant ahead:     Check ID's, fine.  Mine first, and then she checks my buddy's.  "1986, sorry you aren't old enough to drink here."  Wait, seriously?  What.  24?!  Ummm, she then corrects herself, amidst my laughing, she then promptly asks to see mine again!  Frustrating.  I then ask, if I can sample a few different beers, before I decide on a pint.  "Yeah, that's ok"  I ask for the first one, and she fills an entire pint.  Terrible, thanks for totally ignoring what we had just agreed to.

I really hate to rate a place lower based solely on service, but it's a major part of the experience.  The beers we had were ok.  Just ok, and we love craft beers.  With terrible service, and middle of the road beers, Williamsport you disappointed. Just remember, 2010-1986 = legal to drink.

Fantastic brew pub; my favorite brewery in the world. Great American style food menu with many local, organic, and vegan options. Also on of the best small live music venues in the area. The Double Coffee Stout is definitely a standout beer on the menu.

Nice atmosphere.  Visited twice.  First time we got the last remaining table.  Two days later we had a reservation for brunch and most tables were taken.  I suggest making a reservation if planning a visit during a meal time.

A nice touch is that the restaurant attempts to create menu items using local produce.  The dishes that we did try were all very tasty.  The Funk Burger is especially fun... huge onion rings stacked on the burger, all placed between slices of a pretzel roll.

The beers are interesting.  I enjoyed the IPA.  Some of the others standards (brown, stout, blonde) were also very good.  The brewery attempts to create some unique choices, a few of which (a beer with Thai spices!) I had a difficult time drinking.  I guess I prefer traditional beer.

A big plus is that the brewery fills growlers.  When I learned this, I grabbed  one of my growlers from the car to get some Edgar IPA to enjoy back home in D.C.  After the bartender filled the growler, a customer commented "that's a Selins Grove growler", to which the bartender responded "not any more" and stuck a Bullfrog label over the branding.  Great competitive attitude!

Service was okay on the first visit and very good on the second.  During one visit, we were lucky enough to enjoy a live band... and one more IPA.

It seems as though every Pennsylvanian small city has a place like the Bullfrog. State College has Otto's, Millheim has Elk's Creek, Selinsgrove has Selinsgrove Brewpub. Just like these, the Bullfrog brews its own beers (seasonally) and offers them to customers in samplers, glass, pints or growlers (to go), along with typical pub food with fresh/local/etc twist. A recipe that seems to work in the area.

The beers were hit or miss. My favorite was El Diablo, an oddly named belgian style beer.

With respect to the food, I had a burger with beef from the local coop, and it was excellent. Medium rare just like I wanted it. My girlfriend had the portobello sandwich, which was excellent.

The salad called "the burgh" (chicken, steak, or shrimp) with (some) "mixed greens, garlic fries, onions, tomatoes, pickled eggs & beets and Monterey-cheddar blend" looked excellent. Not a very green salad, but it's definitely what I'll be trying next time.

    I'd definitely go again.

A couple cool things on the menu:
    - their garlic fries are much better than their regular fries (and didn't actually taste like garlic at all)
    - the homemade chips

Okay, so, on the way back from a long roadtrip, we stopped here.  One guy walks up to us, apologizes that they just seated a tour bus full of people, and things might take awhile.  We're on a long trip; twenty extra minutes isn't going to kill us, so we stay.

The service was really, really fast.  The appetizer (hummus, baba ganoush, etc) was good.  The beer and the sandwiches were both some of the best I've ever had.

We went with a veggie panini, which was bland until we tried the basalmic-based sauce, which balanced it really well.  Also a portabello sammich, which was spot-on with a horseradish dressing.

    The beer, though, damn.

Tried the double coffee stout, which was a strong dark beer that didn't have bitter, it just had coffee flavor instead; delicious.

Tried the Frogger Lager, and it was probably the best lager I've ever had.  Amber saaz hops, which are typical of Pilsner Urquell, but then a dry hopping that left it with a huge hop aroma without extra bitterness.  I'm not sure I've had a dry hopped lager before; imagine the smell of Sierra Nevada but on a very light lager instead of a darker ale.

Would go back.  Would order those beers again.  Hell, I'd say they should sell those beers far and wide; 5-stars, guys.

The Bullfrog is another one of the places I miss about my time in Williamsport. The decor definitely lets you know you're in a brewery with the large copper vats being prominent when you walk in. There's a broad selection of standard pub fare and more (and a broad enough menu for carnivores and vegetarians alike). There's often some live band playing or bar standards through the speaker system. But this is a brewery. Let's talk about the beer! They really do have something for just about everyone. The selections change, but they do seem to offer some basic standards. I fell in love with the Apricot Wheat and am saddened I can't get it sent to me here in Chicago. There's also an impressive scotch selection, which made me quite happy. The crowd varies depending on the night, but I've always had a good time here. I can't wait to go back and get a nice pint of that Apricot Wheat again...

This place is the definition of a mixed bag the people here, staff and patrons, were extremly friendly when we stopped in while staying overnight I entered with very high hopes.

There was a decent sized crowd and we saddled up to the bar to order.

First round- I had an IPA, not bad but not great either nice hop level but tasted watered down. It had a VERY light color for an IPA. I would skip this beer.

Wife had the session  pale ale.  She couldn't even finish it. Now she is just starting to like craft beer, so I tried the beer thinking maybe the beer may just be a little sophisticated for her "new to craft beer" palate.  It wasn't. The beer had a slighty moldy quality. The taste was an odd mix of both very malty and very hoppy and not at all balanced. At only 3.8 abv this beer was not nearly as drinkable as it should have been.

Second round- wife had a vodka tonic. It was well made and the "well" vodka was rain organic, a very good vodka for a bottom shelf vodka.

I had the apricot wheat which was very good. Similar to one of my absolute favorite brews; Magic Hat #9. Nice color, body, head and mouthfeel. Overall a very good beer.

Now just ad the second round was starting to make up for the abissmal first round one of the patrons commenced to vomit into his glass next to us. He then placed the cup down and continue to party. Several staff walked by as he vomited yet nothing wad done to remove this person.

I go to microbrewerys to avoid the "vomit in your cup" crowd and needless to say we left post-haste.

I want to be clear that the guy vomiting wasn't the only reason I was unsatisfied. The first round was really bad, and the only beer ther had above 5.5 abv was the IPA which was pretty gross. If you need a microbrew then go and try the apricot wheat, otherwise avoid.

Growing up relatively close to Williamsport, the Bullfrog Brewery was the first brewpub I'd ever been to. The beer here is decent and the food a mixture of standard pub fair. I would highly recommend the pork bbq, very good and a huge portion. Reading the reviews and hearing other's experience with the service at the Bullfrog is pretty par for the course. The last time we were there the staff just seemed confused in general and we had to wait quite a while to be seated even though they it was mostly a matter of have a table cleaned off. We waited at the bar and found the bartenders to be on the annoying side. Almost a "too cool for school" attitude because they work as a bartender at the Bullfrog. The Bullfrog is one of the more off beat places in Williamsport, and beats the heck out of going to TGIFridays or Perkins.

This is a good place to track down if you find yourself in Williamsport at some point or trek to the Little League World series right across the river.

Good food. The fish and chips was amazing--light and crispy and came on bed of well-seasoned sweet potato fries. Pork schnitzel with a potato pancake was pretty good too. The sauce actually had some flavor to it.

We were starving, it was late (9:30), and the food came very quickly. The only thing I could even attempt to complain about was that the waitress brought the entree before we were done the salad.

My mom and I went here for lunch when I came home for a visit.  Maybe I am spoiled the great microbrews in Minneapolis but I felt this was no better than a Rock Bottom Brewery.  The service was pretentious (and this is Williamsport) and slow (we were that at the end of the lunch rush).   At one point the waitress seemed annoyed we were even there.

As for the food, it was ok.   The burger was overcooked and the sweet potato fries tasted as if they were frozen and not fresh cut.

I don't think I will be going back or at least not for lunch.  Maybe it would be better on a Friday night to hang out.

Solid beer selection, ok food.  I will focus on the beer only as it is a microbrewery.  The atmosphere is nice for the Williamsport area.  Casual, huge beer making equipment right in the entranceway shows where the focus is here.  The Billtown Blonde is a nice light colored ale, was my favorite of the choices.  Extra points for a large variety of brews.
