This restaurant has become something of an institution. It serves local fishermen who sail from the Hammond boat basin. Its bar serves drinkers and gamblers from the area not to mention campers at the Fort Stevens campgrounds. There are decent sandwiches and salads and red meat entrees.  We enjoy the seafood. We heard a customer ask a waitress which seafood wasn't frozen. She informed him Buoy 9 doesn't serve fish that has bern frozen.  Wine list isn't great. Beer list not bad. Service usually good.

Good atmosphere and good food! My wife and I had fish and chips. She had cod, while I had halibut. Both were lightly battered and not oily. The fries were real potatoes and tasty! The oil that was there was not old or off tasting. It was like eating at the neighborhood bar and grill only we didn't know anybody. The food was great! We'll definitely be back!

Great food, huge portions. I split the fish and chips and a bowl of their fabulous clam chowder. Our friends had the soup, salad, bread combo and the meatloaf sandwich. All of our meals were delicious and fresh. Great local flavor and excellent people watching. Beach folk are awesome.

We like Buoy 9. Unpretentious, and serves good food. This time we both had burgers. Nice crust on the patty, steamed bun, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion.. It dripped down your arm...perfect! Fries were ok, somewhat on the dry side. No creamy goodness inside. The star was the burger, happy, happy tastebuds. At 1:30 the place was semi- empty, no tourists.. Yippee it's a good day!

Always a solid place.   Its a small town locals bar and not a whole lot of atmosphere, but the food and portions are terrific.   Love their sautéed mussels and their bucket of clams.  In each case you get about double what you get at some other local places. Their prime rib is super too but its the seafood that's best there

Establishments like this make half-stars necessary for Yelp ratings. The Buoy 9 is more of a 2.5 star place, as it doesn't really deserve a lower 2 rating and a 3 star is almost a wee bit too generous. I suppose when you make a huge killing off of drunk fishermen and people who "rough it" by dragging their gazillion foot RV towing their SUV and motorcycles with their satellite TV dish  for optimal entertainment reception, you don't have to really care too much about repeat customers based upon service and food quality, as they will come back every year anyway.  For us locals (hey remember us, the ones that support you in the slow winter months when you are sitting in an empty building fiddling around on your smart phone earning your minimum wage?), we are a bit more picky.  Not picky in the obnoxious sense, but picky in the "we are paying good money and wanting decent service and quality food" thus we want more than Costco food served by unmotivated servers.  Your prices are not really in line with the quality and service standards that you offer.

After 2 visits now, enduring inconsistent par-quality food at a high price with sterile to almost hostile service, we will leave your establishment to be supported by the tourist trade and the local bar trolls with Lotto Fever and bad livers.  Sad state of affairs, as a few adjustments could really make this a great spot to dine at on a regular basis.

Went and had dinner at about 6:30pm Tuesday August 14th and the service was great. Everything was brought to us very quickly and the staff was super friendly. The food on the other hand wasnt all that great. I would have prefered to wait an extra 10 to 20 minutes for food prepared right then what we got. The food was ok but has the potential for greatness. Ordered the prime rib rare. It came to the table and first off the meat was clearly not seasoned with salt and pepper before being cooked. The meat was barely pink so was over done and kind of tough. The salads we had with dinner had a pool of water under them. Also ordered the chicken parm. The chicken was so over cooked it was hard to cut, chew and swallow. It was drowned in sauce which wasnt a nice way to try to put moisture back in the dish. The burgers we ordered for the kids were over cooked slightly and dry. It was an ok meal but I expected more. All the components are there for greatness. The kitchen staff needs to slow down and cook the food right instead of being such a hurry to put out the food fast do it right. We still had a good experience but probably wont order items off the menu if we ever return to Bouy 9.

Great food, can be a little $$$ but worth it! The French toast for breakfast is amazing, they use the thick French bread w cinn and vanil, best French toast I've ever had! Halibut fish and chips is my fav for dinner, crispy and tasty. Seafood fett is really good as well, not the best steaks but still good..all around great food-have been eating here for 15 years, always been our fav Resturant at the coast. We have been here a few times.  Food has been consistently good.  Prime rib was awesome!  My son said it was the best garlic bread he ever had.

    Good food and good staff.

Stopped in here for some food following a day of salmon fishing and it was just what was needed. Great burgers and good selection of appetizers. The beer was cold and the waitress was friendly. Would go back here again for sure.
