This place is a restaurant celebrity to Imperial Valley residents almost everyone has been here or at least heard of it and they also have two locations here in the Imperial Valley alone. They have a large variety of burgers and Mexican type plates to choose from along with sandwiches, salads so you can always find something to soothe your craving.
Now the reasons for the two star rating, although the food may be good the service can be hit and miss as far as good service goes and they are often super busy and packed so you may have to wait a while for a table since the building is fairly small for such a popular place. Most of the time when its busy you can't even find a place to park in the parking lot usually around football season because a lot of people go there for the game and a beer.
Overall the food has always been great when I visit and I never leave hungry so when I want a good burger or meal I know I can find it here at Burgers & Beer.
Probably one of the better places to hang out in El Centro. Nice bar, no big surprises on the food side. I appreciated they had a vegetarian burger. The appetizers were good, the salat a little too heavy on the dressing.
The beer menu is impressive and the main reason you want to come here.
I also liked that the had a small outside dining area which is nice as long as temps are still comfortable.
Went here for dinner with my girlfriend. When we got there the hostess looked clueless & hardly even welcomed us. So we stood there for about 5 minutes & then a different hostess came out and sat us. She informed us our waitress would be with us shortly, by shortly she meant 10 - 15 minutes. Our waitress finally shows up, we order our drinks, then she disappears and doesn't even bother asking us if we would to start off with any appetizers or order anything. Little did she know, we were actually ready to order but she didn't even give us a chance to say anything.
About 15 minutes pass by and she decides to come to our table and asks us if we were ready to order. We order the buffalo wings as an appetizer, I ordered the 'admiral burger' & my girlfriend orders the 'guacamole burger'. After she takes our order she disappears again not even noticing my cup was empty and that I needed a refill. She shows up 12 minutes later with our appetizers, at this point I was able to ask for a refill. 10 minutes pass, we get our food. As I went to pick up my burger, I noticed the huge puddle of grease underneath it. As I try to pick it up, it falls apart and grease gets everywhere. The buns it came in were reduced to a soggy mush. But, I still ate it because I was starving & I didn't feel like waiting for that waitress to show up again.
Half way through my meal, she shows up and asks if everything is ok, I tell her my burger is extremely greasy and the buns completely fell apart. So she told me she would get me new buns, and she did, I was pretty happy about that. That was the only thing she cared to help us with. My girlfriend's guacamole burger was good, not anything special though.
In conclusion, our experience here was not satisfactory. My burger was just a pile of grease. When will chefs learn that grease does NOT add to the taste. It just pisses people off and makes them fatter. The waitress was not very good. I had high hopes for this place. Maybe we just came at a bad time, I don't know, but customer service is extremely important to me & the pile-o-grease burger has discouraged me from ever coming here again.
Not from the area but wanted to catch the Laker game on our way back from Mexicali. Â Stopped here and had an enjoyable experience. :)
Great food, service and atmosphere.  Sports lovers come here!  You have  your own personal TV if you're lucky enough to score a booth. And cheering on your team is welcome!
BLOODY MARYS ARE SUPER YUMMY! :)
I preferred Burgers N Beer 15 years ago when the service and food was excellent. Â The burgers are good now but not always great and the service is hit and miss, depending on which BNB you go to. The prices are high for what you get lately and the last two times we went we got about 10 french fries with our burger, is there a FF shortage or what?? Â Bring back good service and give us our mound of FF back!
Review Source:An El Centro staple, and you must go when you are in town. Â It is not a divey fast food joint as the name implies, and it is actually very nice inside with lots of TV screens and definitely a larger menu than you would expect including mexican food, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast. I enjoyed the Turkey Burger and Champagne salad (they have half sizes), and friendly staff. Â Be forewarned that burgers do not come with fries, so if they ask if you "want fries with that", you will be charged the $2.50 extra (a coworker of mine didn't read the menu closely and was surprised). Â My only complaint is that I wish they had more micro brews on draft (they mainly have macros with the addition of Stone and Fat Tire. Â At least they have Guinness, you can never go wrong there.
Review Source:When it comes to the Imperial Valley this is the ONLY restaurant to get great beer. Â I walked into this place thinking I would have a crappy burger, fries and some watery light beer as my only choice...To my surprise they had decent burgers and STONE on tap. Â I was thrilled. Â Definitely stop by if you pass through this area.
Review Source:I Come to this place everytime I have to be in NAF El Centro to work. Its a fun place to eat a burger watch some tv and drink beer. The burgers are not something to brag about in this place, plenty of room for improvement. There are other NON burger joints with far better burgers in San Diego and even in Fresno. The other dishes are A OK, but if Burgers and Beer was in san diego, I probably wouldnt have eaten there twice.
The thing I like about this place is that every booth has its own TV and remote, I don't watch Football or any ball sports, so I'm not force to watch ball games instead I can watch the Speed Channel to catch a F1 race or MotoGP.
Over all if you are in El Centro and want to get OK food and a fun place to drink, this is it. if not just drive to SD and get some real good food.
Excellent atmosphere! Â Especially if you're a sports fan. Â Many TVs and many beers to choose from. Â The is pretty good and the service at times can be a hit or miss. Â Overall, it's a great place for a group, birthday, family, or simply to watch a game. Â Just be sure to get there early if you're planning to watch a game, it gets pretty packed.
Review Source:I was born and raised in the Valley, and I remember BNB with just 10 tables or less. I moved back from SD after 10 years, and decided to make BNB my place to grab a beer and watch the games....MY GOAL WAS TO DRINK ALL THE BEERS and be a part of the beer club.
Service: Prompt to seat and take order. but NEVER a check up. If so, its right before they give the check.
Food: Same as ever... but my regular is a bacon bleu burgers, beer battered fries. If I'm feeling healthy, I'll eat the chalupas.
I asked SEVERAL waitresses at BOTH locations to give me a list of beers that I've had. They told me there was no way to keep track of the beers, and I decided to take pictures of the bottles. UNTIL last week, a server at the mall printed out the list, and it was available all this time BOO.
To my astonishment, they only listed 19 beers, when I've clearly had 30+. SO. If I'm not getting swiped for my beer club, then I'm not getting my e-club points. NOT COOL. And I go at least twice a week, and try at least 2 different beers. If they'd like to see my transactions from BNB I'll gladly show proof.
TO TOP IT OFF, I attempted to contact via website to share my concern. Waited a couple of business days, and still no response. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL.
Hence... a bad review on Yelp and no more beer club for me THUMBS DOWN
Good not just for "burgers and beer", but also for "breakfast and beer"! Â I'm a big fan of several of their Mexican breakfast options, and their chavela is perfect. Not to say that thier burgers aren't great too...complimenting the food is the quick, efficient and friendly fun service. Â Gotta love the TVs- you won't miss a moment of any game- and the convenient location. Â I make a point of stopping here anytime I'm near.
Review Source:DELICIOUS.
The service here is kind of hit or miss, but we come here at least once a month and I have yet to get tired of my usual - the guacamole burger with cheddar cheese and chipotle fries. My fiance really likes the wide selection of beer here.
I've tried the Mexican food here and it's no good. Get a burger! :)
I stopped by this location on my way home from Yuma. I was blown away by the place. It is very clean and modern on the inside and there are TVs everywhere. The food was great. I got a BBQ burger with a potato bun. I love that they do things very Bull Weevil style by bringing the fixens on the side (but in a much cleaner fashion). I even left the tomato on my burger because it looked so fresh (I don't even like tomatoes). My buddy got the sample appetizer platter and it was very large and really good.
My only gripe was the service, my glass was empty for some time. By the time I was asked about a refill I was just about done with my burger. By the time the refill got back to me I was done. Had that not been the case it would of been a perfect visit and a 5 star would of been given.
I was in El Centro for business & found this place via the Yelp reviews. The interior is decorated much like a Buffalo Wild Wings, mostly sports themed. Try to get a booth on the perimeter of the room; each one has a small LCD TV with remote control. They have a large and varied menu, although I figured I should try a burger since that's their namesake. The quality of the hamburger patty was great & they offer three different types of buns. A nice touch is they bring out a tray of condiments including pickled carrots/jalapenos, pickles, thousand island, and the standard stuff.
Review Source:B&B is as good as it gets, if your in the Imperial Valley! Lets be honest, there is not much you can compare it too.
The burgers are very good and they are a pretty good size. My all time favorite is the lava burger with grilled onions and it is the bomb! (literally) This burger consitst of a beef patty speckled with chopped serranos and onions, grilled then topped of with melted chipotle cheese, bacon, and grilled onions served on a toasted bun... it is awesome... I have also had the chili burger and it is pretty good as well. The tacos del real are great as well, they have alot of flavor.
The service can be spotty, but everytime the hubby and I have gone we have had good service.
Im sorry, but you cannot compare B&B to in-n-out, jack, mcd, or any other chain. And you are going to pay a little more for the food because its a restaurant and not a fast food.
We have now moved to Tucson and we miss being able to go to B&B, but we will when we go home to visit.
Very disappointed. 2 weeks in a row. Coffee grounds in my soda last week and dried food on my glass this week. Manager tried to tell me its tea grounds which would be ok if I had tea. Of all the years of going there the mall site needs to get their staff in the kitchen to do their job better. Waitresses were great. I
Review Source:The SERVICE here is MEDIOCRE and not friendly. The only thing this place has going for it is that there is NOWHERE else to really go in town. The BURGERS and FOOD is GOOD but WAY OVERPRICED. When you buy a burger you have to ADD FRIES!! THAT'S RIDICULOUS! No decent hamburger joint requires you to ADD FRIES.
Review Source:I was born and raised in El Centro so i have been coming to this place for years now. I currently live in San Diego so whenever I make to to El Centro I make it a point to stop here.
I love coming here with friends and family to enjoy  great food and drinks.  The atmosphere is fun exciting def a go watch the game kind of a place.
Big plasma tv's all around the restaurant with different games or programs going on. Â If not into sports you can sit at a booth which comes with your very own mini plasma tv to which you can enjoy any channel you want. Â Great place to come with friends and laugh drink and be a loosy goosy.
I order the cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. Â Never fails always great!
Cute waitresses, dank burgers, high-definition NFL football - what more can you ask for?
I've got to say that B&B offers the best burger in the Imperial Valley. Â I would compare the burgers to those of Red Robin, but slightly better. Â The buns these burgers rock are the softest you will ever have, without comparison.
This place is definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the Valley. Â Be careful on Sundays though: Imperial Valley Raiders fans are notoriously violent.
This is one of my Dad's favorite places in El Centro. Â Had breakfast here last Sunday Dad, wife, and two nieces.
The place has lots and lots of televisions, which were showing two different sports programs that I didn't care about.
I had the machaca con huevos, which was fine, and a giant diet soda. Â Should have had some beer but at ten in the morning with stuff to do it didn't seem appealing.
Kids had a giant "tractor tire" pancake. Â Dad had the hamburger scramble.
Waitress was friendly and attentive.
What a piece of shit service I had last time!
Yes, I love the burgers, yes I love the beer, and you bet your Charger-lovin ass I love the buffalo wings, but LORD HAVE MERCY was my last experience absolutely awful.
Our waitress was a straight up bitch with the most unflattering cameltoe.
We didn't get refills on our drinks, and I nearly snapped my fingers at her for her attention. At some point, she leaned over our booth and rudely asked, "You want anything else?"
What the fuck? What the fuckety fuck?
I would watch her attend her other table, which consisted of a group of 30-something year-old beer-belied, jersey wearing dudes with buzzcuts and they got excellent service and perhaps she let them get away with a slap on her ass or two. Way to whore it up! You know, my boyfriend and I are just as capable of tipping well!
I don't know if I could ever go back...well I probably would, but if she's my waitress again I will personally ask her manager to move me to another table or assign a different server because this one made a potentially delicious dinner the most unpleasant.
This was the first restaurant I ate in when I got to El Centro, and I've been back several times ONLY because I like literally walking distance AND my girlfriend loves their cheese fries.. This is 'supposed' to be a place to go and have a quick bite and catch the football games, right? Well, Im from Miami, and I'd like to watch the Dolphins game NOT watch the Chargers on ALL Tv's!!! The service is alright, and the food is ok also.. I've had better, but since we're in El Centro and there arent that MANY options, Burgers & Beers would have to suffice.
I DO like that some booths have their own small Tv's!
I'm in some serious trouble if this is the "best place to eat in El Centro". Â First of all, what is up with the unoriginal name? Couldn't think of something more exciting? I mean, "Applebees" and "Chilis" are MUCH better names!
1 star for having several TVs (which I hope broadcast NFL games on Sunday), and the other star for having hot waitresses and respectable prices. Â Went here for lunch - ordered the turkey sandwich with fries. Â No drink (just water). It was mediocre. It was $12. Â Fuck my life.
My sister was begging me to go to her house in El Centro (aka: Hell Centro) to help my niece with her school project. As an incentive, she promised to take me out to dinner to a place of my choice. I remember her talking about Burgers & Beer, so I asked her to take me there.
What a pleasant surprise! It does have a sports bar type of feel with TVs everywhere and loud families but overall, it is a fun place with good food and drinks.
They have a ton of items to choose from -- not just burgers! I decided to go with their nacho burger and I asked for some jalapenos on top (I have been on a jalapeno kick recently). The burger was a little pink in the middle (just the way I like it) and it was topped with lots of nacho cheese and tons of jalapenos, which I regretted later! I didn't care; it was well worth it!
They also have a great drink menu. I had originally asked for a strawberry blended margarita, but after the waitress told me that they were out of strawberry, I chose mango instead. What a great choice. It was ridiculously yummy!
Tip: If you can help it, DO NOT sit at the booth closest to the entrance. There is a vent directly over this booth and it feels like you're sitting in a tornado!
We were concerned about finding a decent place to eat in El Centro. Â It is not much of a town. Â Once again Yelp came through for us. Â This is a cool place. Â It is busy and has great energy. Â There are a lot of televisions showing various games.
The burgers are solid and there are a lot of options. Â I had the five cheese burger. Â How can you go wrong with five diferent cheeses on one burger. Â The fries are solid.
We split an order of boneless wings as an appetizer. Â They were quite tasty. Â They could have been a little hotter, but the taste was on point.
My only gripe is the service was relatively slow. Â Not dreadfully slow, but you want everything to happen just a bit faster. Â The servers are friendly.
We just got back from this place and I must say I was impressed! Â My friend and I split a mushroom and grilled onions half-pound hamburger and a "Blossom Onion" and both were excellent. Â I only had a Blossom Onion once before at the Del Mar Fair years ago and it was a greasy mess that three of us couldn't finish without OD'ing on oil overdose and had no interest in ever getting one again. Â This one was crispy and fresh and light and crunchy and very, very good. Â The hamburger was $10 and the onion was $6.50, Â The total meal was $25 before tip with my $5+ Guiness Ale, basically a meal for one person that we split so a little high priced but at least it was excellently prepared. Â It seems to be a really popular place as it was quite busy for a Tuesday night and the parking lot was full.
Service was excellent.
We came back from the funeral mass for my abuelos, so I was looking for some comfort food. Â This place was located next to the Econo Lodge where we were staying for the night, so I figured we'd give it a shot. Â
I'm glad we went in. Â Most of the tables around the edges have small LCD TVs and large ones are hanging from the ceilings. Â Jerseys, pictures and sports memorabilia are everywhere. Â Booths were big, tables weren't crowded, but the restaurant was. Â I was surprised to see so many people. Â
They have many variations of burgers, some sandwiches, several Mexican dishes, a few salads and a few Italian dishes. Â They have so many beers on the menu that it was confusing. Â
We all ended up ordering some burger variation. Â I got the Pancho's. Â It had beans, chorizo, and tomatoes. Â It sounds bizarre, but it was actually pretty good. Â If the beans had been a little saltier, it would have been perfect. Â My sister got a chili burger. Â She didn't speak while eating, so I know she enjoyed it. Â My other sister got a bacon cheeseburger. Â Syd ordered the lava burger, on the recommendation of our waitress. Â (BTW, she said the burgers were better at another location, but I'm not gonna rat her out :)
The onion rings were excellent. Â The sampler platter had some really good asparagus fries and fried zucchini. Â
My sister and Syd enjoyed their beers. Â
Service was great. Our waitress was helpful and unobtrusive. Â Prices were totally reasonable. Â
I never knew we'd get such great food and service in El Centro. Â Will recommend to my cousins.
I have to write this review, if only as a warning to other unknowing consumers. I, and three other people from my office, ate here a few months ago. Three of us got sick, two of us badly. The two who really got it ate more or less the same thing--a meat dish off the Mexican menu with tomatoes all over it. Guess those tomatoes were... infected.
I threw up for a solid 24 hours, felt so bad I could barely move (not at all exaggerating) for a full week, and then felt strange and not like myself for another 2 weeks. Thank you very much, Burgers & Beer!
I've eaten the burgers here and another item or two. I'd even eaten the entree that got me sick before the fateful occasion, and it was a wonderful dish. But what can you say? Face down death like this, and why in the world would you ever willfully get yourself anywhere near it again? I realize the metropolis of El Centro doesn't offer a lot of choices with the kind of atmosphere that B&B has, but again, I say with all seriousness: be careful. I'll never set foot in there again.
The name says it all. "Burgers & Beer". For the Imperial Valley, its as good as it gets. Great tasting burgers that you can choose from either 1/3 lb. or 1/2 lb. patty. I miss the chipotle fries. I haven't visited the place I used to call home, El Centro, it quite some time. A visit here is long overdue and when I do get the chance to head out there its always the 1/3 lb. guacamole burger with chipotle fries. Mmmmm.......tastey. (as old Gregg would say)
Its also a cool place to have a few drinks and watch a game.
Burgers & Beer.............................when are you coming to San Diego???
Probably one of the best burgers I've had so far! SO YUMMY! More than 10 types of burgers offered (also in 2 different sizes...1/3 or 1/2 pound). All the necessary condiments are already on the table. Ordered buffalo wings too...yummy! Fries need to be ordered seperately but everything is ridiculously cheap!!! Aside from burgers they also offer mexican, pasta, and sandwhiches.
Excellent spot for a great burger and a good amount of beer. Another plus, service was good and food came out pretty quick.
I have been going to this place when i am down here on business for the last 8 years and i must say that things are starting to slip.
I am not sure if it is due to new kitchen staff or what.
Food took longer, was not as good, and there were smaller portions.
It IS still a good place, but not the burgers & beer of old. Â Maybe i just had a bad trip this time, check it out for your self, but i think some of these reviews are a bit elevated considering my last visit.
Ok, so I decided to go here 2 weeks prior to my visit because I've never been to El Centro. I had no idea what else they had there except for what everyone was Yelping about; Burgers and Beer.
Two friends and I enter this joint on a Saturday night after our photographic exploration of the Salton Sea area. This place was pretty packed considering El Centro's relatively low population. A bit noisy, indeed. There were TVs all over the place, showing sports etc. Many booths also had monitor size TVs which I thought was pretty kewl.
So we ordered. I was so tired that I still can't remember what burgers we ordered. I do remember, that they were slightly greezy. Not so much that the bun was falling apart but it was definitely overly moist. We all agreed that the taste of the burgers were, well... just plain burger tasting. Although we tried each other's burgers, they all tasted pretty much the same. The extra sauces and toppings really didn't make much of a difference.
The beer, however, did. They had a large selection of international beers. China, England, Japan, Mexico, Australia, etc. I ordered Kirin but wished they had Asahi or Sapporo.
We all rated this place at 3 stars because it was pretty average. The joint was a little classier and had more TVs than the average sports bar but we paid that easily in their burger and beer prices; slightly higher than average sports bar joints. But again, we all agreed on an extra star for the friendly greetings and cute smiles from a pleasantly beautiful hostess; Shantel.
=( Sorry no photos from me. 3 Photographers and no photos. Yeah, you can say we were camera'd out. I promise to take some next time =D
Hello,
Burgers & Beer is a great place to drink a beer and eat. They have a lot of  beer and burger choices. They have more hot waitresses under one roof than any other joint in town. I recomend the five cheese burger with spiral fries that are  smoothered with cheese. The scenery is conquered by over 20 televisions.  So if you like to eat drink and watch ufc on spike tv ,while looking at some of the most bueatiful girls in California, I advise you to try out this place.
I'll probably never come back here but that is because I hope to god that I never have to go to El Centro again!
I was stuck in Brawley, a few mile away, doing environmental consulting work on an old closed down toxic waste dump, and we came to Burgers & Beer two of the nights during our stay. They are quite popular and serve a lot of stuff, including, surprise surprise, burgers and beer!
