I agree with the other recent reviews. I've lived here for 1 1/2 years now, and went here 5 or 6 times. I thought for sure the food would get better, but it didn't. For the prices they charge, and the food they serve, you'd be better off spending your money somewhere else, and on top of all that, the people that work there aren't very friendly If you're going to charge outrageous prices for crappy food, you could at least do it with a smile!
Review Source:Now known as "Big Al's Cafe. Â
Went there today since I went to the same shopping center for a haircut and thought I'd give it a try.
I had the "Everything Burger" with a side of onion rings and a soda.
The burger itself was pretty decent and had a good flavor to it. The problem I had with the burger however was there was so much sauce etc on the burger that the top half of the bun was too soggy and it fell apart and probably half of the condiments ended-up on my plate, and my hands were far too gooey for the napkin and I had to go into the restoom to wash my hands.
Now I'm NOT a "professional cook" but if the bun had been TOASTED, it would have made it a lot more sturdy and the burger would have had a better chance of remaining intact. That's "cooking 101."
The onion rings which I paid 99 cents extra for in-lieu of french fries were a joke. They were tiny, over-cooked and VERY greasy and it was obvious that they were deep-fried in oil that should have been changed the day before probably!
The onion rings I make at home come out FAR BETTER than the ones I had today with the burger, and when you go to any kind of an eating establishment, you naturally expect the quality of their food to be better than you can make at home.
That was NOT the case!
Though I typically give any restaurant at least a second chance, I most likely will NOT be retuning to Big Al's. Â In my personal opinion, if you can screw-up a simple burger and an order of onion rings, I can only imagine what the quality of the other food items might be. I'm NOT implying that their other menu items aren't good; I'm just not going to take that gamble based on the experience I had today for lunch.
My bill came to $15.64. For maybe HALF that price, I could have gone to Hometown Buffet and had a far-better-quality meal.
