A few things about Uptown... Â They have done a major remodel from the former lounge that was here. Â They've upgraded the furniture and cleaned it up as well as more than doubled the size from the previous. Â They've added a fancy jukebox and possibly another flat screen (can't remember). Â For improvements, that's all they've done. The walls are completely bare, there is sparse black furniture and the service that you used to get is gone, left with the previous owner, I guess.
I came during their coffee service time of day (mid day) to get some work done and a sandwich. Â I was immediately approached and served by a super friendly woman that informed me that this was her last day. Â After she left the next girl came in and one of the owners. Â I sat with an empty glass for over an hour and neither one even so much as acknowledged my presence. Â Easily walked past me 30 times, buzzing around hanging cheap beer banners and tasting a new tequila.
One hour and 45 minutes later, another owner arrives and also makes no attempt at acknowledging my presence - also tastes the new tequila and they all strike up a convo - among themselves of course. Â This would've NEVER happened by the previous owner.
Albeit, the previous lounge had its own issues, customer service was NOT one of them. Â The previous owner and staff would happily greet any and all who entered their establishment. Â Never would they make you feel as if you weren't good enough to be served let alone greeted or even looked at.
I personally had high hopes for the new Uptown Lounge. Â I spent thousands over the years at the old lounge and looked forward to enjoying my time at this place as well. Â I guess not. Â I will not spend my money where I am snubbed and refused service.
These people need to pull their heads out of their you know what or they are snubbing away a whole business, not just their customers. Â I would be surprised if they're still open by January. Â Oh wait, I heard they have deep pockets. Â Maybe we all have it wrong and this is their place to make themselves feel like big shots and they don't really care about customers or making money? Â Hmm...
I must confess, I didn't have high expectations based on the appearance and I was truly not disappointed! I wish I could give this establishment a negative because I think one star rating is still being too nice.
This isn't your "Cheers" bar/lounge. If they know your name, well maybe you know the one of a few staff that work there. They can't remember your drinks let alone your name. My Fiancee and I were accompanied by a friend who is a frequent patron to Uptown. Â That evening all three of us had problems with either having our order taken, having our drinks delivered and having them made correctly. Â It wasn't very busy when we were there so I can't give them that has a partial excuse.
There is zero ambiance here!  There is zero décor here.  It's very plain, bare and cold.  This helps contribute to the feeling that the inside space overpowers the handful of tables and bar stools. It almost gives the impression that they forgot to move in the rest of the tables, chairs and possibly décor.  It's a very budget establishment. They didn't feel the need to put anything into the place, service reflects that so if you go in here knowing this and aren't expecting anything else, then you may feel it's sufficient.
The menu is limited in the drink selection. Taking the recommendation on some of the Uptown Signature drinks is iffy. Â It's apparently a bar so food is not something you should expect to have the option of while drinking. They did offer us some sort of nuts in a bowl....really? I think I can get more than that at a dive bar... People are drinking, I think it's responsible to offer food. Â It's also one more reason possibly for people to come in maybe.
The staff I think was too busy being into themselves or their conversations to adequately wait on my party of 3. Â Just the mere fact you forgot to take one of our party members order, is a HUGE problem. What compounds it is later we had to chase down our own drink. Â However, they were quick to serve us the bill.
Right before we left, a DJ did come in and start playing music. Â While there was probably no more than 10 patrons at the most in the lounge at the time, no one was up dancing. Â
We left very unimpressed. Â My Fiancee is rather easy going so you know it's bad when he too, has no desire to attempt a second visit.
If you have nothing else in life to do and want to throw your money away, chase your drinks and look at bare white walls, then this is where you want to go.
Went with hubby yesterday while mil watched the boys. Â We came in to check out the menu and grab a coffee. Â The bartender said she didn't think they had the salt for the "salted carmel macchia-tini" so I got the "Dirty Blonde" instead. Â It was a tasty drink and I'm sure we will go back to try another specialty drink. Â
The decor is very lacking. Â White white walls and black furniture. Â They have closet door used as a chalk board. Â Now I'm not a perfect speller, but if I was to make a menu on a wall I'd make sure I spelled things correctly. Â Spicey is spelled without the e and carmel is caramel.
