This is a local favorite for good Cajun and Creole cooking. I am not sure about the history of the place, but it is steeped in history and tradition. The food is the best you are going to get around with its no thrill dishes. Just look at some of the pictures if you don't trust me.
tips: Can't go wrong with red beans and rice with cornbread. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
The Cabin has always been one of my Mother's favorite Louisiana restaurants, but she hadn't been here in a while and I read some bad reviews here - I tried to talk her out of it. Â I am glad I didn't - it was fantastic. Â Great menu - all of your Cajun and Creole dishes. Â I tried their sampler so I could sample several different dishes. Â I got more than I expected - more than a sample of each. Â I arrived hungry - I left stuffed. Â I will definitely return the next time I'm in this area. Â And don't worry if you're traveling with someone who doesn't like to try different things - they have many "basic" menu choices too (my wife had fried shrimp - she said it was very good).
