Latil's Landing Restaurant

I came for brunch with a party of 7 and absolutely loved the experience. The food was exceptional and the service was very nice. I would definitely recommend a brunch here. The best part is walking around the gardens afterwards.

Here's the rundown:
*Bloody Marys are delish, with a little bit of spice to them. Brandy Milk Punch, not so much. They didn't know how to make it. Stick to the basics!
*Their bread basket includes dragonfly shaped mimosa biscuits (awesome!) and they serve the bread with 3 kinds of butter. The pecan spice one was divine.
*Their prices are very good for the quality of the food you get. Put it this way, we went to another Cajun restaurant and for 30% more we got less food and mediocre quality. Latil's definitely impressed!
*Crab Mango Cake Salad - this was very good. A generous crabcake on top of a chipotle remoulade with a side salad and fresh tomatoes.
*Gulf Fish - it was the drum with a very generous amount of lump crab meat on top. Tasty!
*Grits & Grillades - made with veal, and a very nice presentation. Looked fabulous and I didn't hear any complaints.

The only thing is that there are no signs directing you here once you arrive on the grounds of Houmas House. I would definitely recommend some wayfinding signs so the older guests don't have to walk around in circles like my grandma had to do!

Fantastic food and service. The oysters rocked, steak cooked to perfection, and the drum couldn't have been more beautifully done! The deserts are to die for...especially the chocolate!!!!

Went here for my birthday several months ago and I was extremely disappointed with the service. I have always highly recommended this restaurant to friends and family, but this visit made me think twice. During this visit, our server completely neglected us. We didn't get a single water refill during the entire visit nor were we asked if we wanted another round of cocktails. She was busy catering to her other two tables, checking on them and chatting them up while ignoring us. The few attempts we made to flag her down went unnoticed because she would sail pass our table. Granted, we looked a lot younger than the other patrons in the dining room so perhaps she felt that we would not have tipped her as well. However, I have been in the service industry for about 10 years now and know how to tip accordingly. The server's  blatant indifference put a damper on my birthday festivities.
