I normally am not into giving bad reviews, but I truly feel that the customers should know what they are getting upon coming to this Cabo Wabo.. My group arrived between 8:30-8:45 and went directly to the bar to the left of the restaurant and took a seat. The service there was great and our bartender answered all our questions about the drinks. We then decided to get a table because you couldn't order food there which was no problem. I went to the hosts podium and waited and waited.. A table had just opened up and needed to be cleared off and I wanted to make sure we got it.. Finally someone came up to the stand and I asked if we could have that particular table and he said yes. Another couple came in at that point in time, walked past the host stand and sat at the table they were cleaning up for my party. The man at the host stand said "oops, i guess not!" Wow.. Finally another table opened up and we took it which was fine, but as we tried to order food the server told us they were going to stop serving food after 9:30.. It wasn't 9:30 yet!!! All we wanted were chips and salsa and we were NOT ordering them last minute and had our table not been taken.. you get the picture. So we ask for a manager and the server left and shortly after a new server showed up because I am guessing the other did not want to help us!! Throughout this whole debacle and rudeness, I personally went up to the bar which was packed and tried to order a pitcher of margaritas.. The bar tender had multiple customers at the same time and walked away after answering my question and I waited to order the pitcher.. He never came back.. A female bartender walked behind the bar, milled around cleaning and then went right up to the people standing behind me (who had just shown up), squealed and took their drink order because they were her friends.. I kept standing there trying to get someone to take my drink order.. I tried to get a pitcher of margaritas for 15 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally the barback asked me what I wanted and then grabbed the female bartender who told me I couldn't order the margaritas because it was now after 9:30 and they didn't serve them after 9:30.. It was not even 9:35 and I had been waiting and overlooked. I went back to my table and eventually saw groups getting the pitchers so again I went back to the bar and the same bar tender now explains that only bachelorette parties can get the pitchers after 9:30.. I made my way back to my table yet again to explain the new reason we could not have the pitcher. My group of girlfriends and I were ironically up in Lake Tahoe to celebrate a birthday and my engagement!! One of the gals in the group then went to our server and explained this who took her to the bar and low and behold, we get a pitcher! (I am sitting at the table at this point unaware of the details.) She comes back to the table and lets me know that we got a pitcher to my surprise.. I go up to the bar with our money and Nicki the rude bartender pulls the pitcher to her chest and says I am trying to swindle them! I am completely shocked at this point and quickly tell her that I in fact was not trying to swindle them as I had money in hand and she tells me that I have been trying to get a pitcher all night and that I am swindling them out of a pitcher! This was by far the worst service I have ever had!!!!!!!!!!

Never in my life have I ever heard someone speak to a customer that way.. I will never be coming back to this establishment and would hope that in the future they take better care of their customers rather than calling them a thief. DISGUSTED!

The only good thing about this restaurant was the margarita and the chips/salsa. The food we ordered (which was recommended by our server) was lacking any flavor whatsoever. The carne asada was bland as well as the rice and beans. 2 others in my party ordered the fish tacos (also recommended) and said they were awful as well. Maybe we should've just gone for the bar experience and not ordered food. Our server was also not the most friendly person I've ever met and the young girl who brought out chips and salsa as well as our water was very rude. Overall, I've had MUCH better dining experiences and I will not go back on future trips to Tahoe.

Sitting in the main bar for drinks and some shared appetizers is GREAT, in fact, it's a South Lake Tahoe favorite!!  To sit down for a meal in the restaurant itself ??  Sadly, not so much. The very cute, very friendly kids waiting the tables are incredibly sweet, but  service is slow and attention to detail is just not there ( a lack of experience/ proper training seems to be the case... ) To have to keep reminding a server for water to be refilled, condiments or missing parts of the meal to be delivered or missing utensils and napkins to be replaced when they appear to be wandering around slightly aimlessly or socializing with other servers is no bueno... LOL. Let's just say it's happened enough that we just skip that experience altogether and go for what works!! The Bar/Music Venue!!

Highly disappointed. Bland food, watery drinks, rowdy crowd. I came expecting a Sammy Hagar Rock-n-Roll experience and left with a bad taste taste in my mouth.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while and it pains me to do this. I do not like to flippantly give terrible reviews because I realize this is somebody's livelihood. But this needs attention, otherwise there will not be a business. My family and I went to Lake Tahoe for Christmas break and we were very excited to go out to eat with just the ladies. Every place we roamed to was busy and we were starving, so we ending up at not busy Cabo Wabo. We should of known.

To start with after we were seated, we couldn't find a waitress and were ready for a drink. (It is located inside a casino for goodness sakes.) Once we did it took forever to get water, our drinks, or some chips. When our drinks finally came they were terrible! We notified the waitress and she said, "Oh, the Tonic is probably out of syrup". Like she knew. You could probably guess the replacement drink didn't come quickly, nor did taking our order. We also ordered the guac and chips because, like I said, we were starving!

As we were waiting, and waiting we witnessed a whole bunch of terrible customer service. A huge "partying" group came in and wanted to scoot some tables together. Trust me, they needed the business. They did not want to accommodate the group because some of the tables were in a different waitresses section. Why do I know this? Because the waitresses argued over the situation in front of us and they was no manager to be found to handle the situation. We also sat and witnessed the same SLOW service of patrons that were seated before us. I literally felt like I was watching an episode of Kitchen Nightmares!

Now the food..Of course our chips and guac came out at the same time our food did. We were truly is disbelief at how bad a restaurant experience could go. The guacamole was the ONLY good thing. I ordered the fish tacos, which were OK but the beans were all dried up and rice was, eh. My friends food was about the same.

No matter how hungry or thirsty you are, keep on walking.

CABO WABO TAHOE! I enjoy Cabo Wabo in South Lake Tahoe. Sammy Hagar is an amazing person and I love his venture in this bar. I had some drinks. There was a fun cover band playing covers. I was with some people and met some other people at the bar. Fun time at this unique bar. Definitely recommended. I hope to visit again.

    Bad customer service.

Slow.  Didn't anticipate needs. Had to ask for water, chips, the bill...

Ordered Mahi-Mahi tacos ($13.99).  Good portion, I was disappointed that it was fried, but I didn't read the menu correctly (my fault). They are advertised as being beer battered. The sides (beans and rice) was really plain, nothing was very spicy, hardly any pico de gallo or lettuce on the tacos, so it tasted like a fish-stick in a flour tortilla.

REALLY BAD SALSA, we think a disinfectant must have spilled in the bowl. Rotten tomatoes mixed with chemicals, bleh! We couldn't eat it.

    :(

I wish I went to CHEVY's or anywhere else.

The only good thing about this restaurant was that the coronas were cold. Waiter was not friendly & couldn't careless about dining experience. Got guacamole as an app, mediocre at best. Was watery and tastes like guac out of a bag. Split the chicken fajitas which had no flavor, onions half cooked & chicken overlooked. Save your money and go to Baja Fresh instead!

Didn't eat (and most likely wouldn't), just had a couple drinks and tried to enjoy the entertainment.  Interior is somewhere between a Chevy's and Sammy Hagar shrine.  Beer selection sucks.  Margarita was just alright.  The cover band was blah.

Perhaps its just not my scene.  YMMV.

We decided to eat here for our anniversary dinner rather than the posh, expensive restaurants upstairs. We were seated by the "manager" who had the personality of a wet blanket. It made me unsure of our experience to come.
We got a nice secluded table, and WARM chips and salsa were on our table almost instantly!
Our server grabbed drinks in which I choose a Maui Rocker. Woohoo it was amazing!
It took a bit to get our server back to order, but I was in no rush... We had amazing chips and drinks to munch on!
Once we ordered the food came at lightning speed!
The food was great, and service efficient for a busy busy night!
Overall, we WILL return to Cabo Wabo, YuM! ;)

Ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito. For a 12 dollar burrito, I would expect real eggs instead of powdered scramble eggs. The chorizo was more like ground beef. The service was very good. All in all, I was left with the feeling they didn't care about  their food at all, only profit margin.

I do admire the remodel of the bar/club Cabo Wabo between Harrah's and Harvey's at Stateline, NV. It's definitely less quaint feeling like it was before, but it suits the bigger audience, which is good.

The service at the main bar is exceptional. The main bar is located toward the back of the bar. Mike (Miguel) and Chris are fantastic. They provide service so exceptional I wish I drank more.

However, avoid the side bar areas where a clique of bartenders only make easy drinks, take forever to respond, and don't respond politely.

    Meh.

Watched the Niners game here this past weekend - it was busy, but not too busy.

We were seated where we could see TVs towards the back where there were regular waitresses. It took about 15 minutes for a waitress to finally get to us - as they hadn't even assigned a waiter to us.

We finally ordered appetizers (jalepeno poppers, cheese quesadilla, and guacamole) which were eh. The quesadilla was good, we had to ask for a refill on salsa while we were waiting on the apps to be delivered though.

I could have lived without this place and the wait for the food to be honest! I think next time I shall pass.

Out of all the places we have eaten breakfast in Lake Tahoe, this has been our favorite! Although it is a bit pricey, especially at dinner. The breakfast portions are big, well put together. My husband always orders the build your own omelette and it feels him up all day. I have ordered the blueberry pancakes, the Chilequiles, and the Huevos Rancheros. I really liked all three meals, but I loved the Huevos Rancheros I had on our last trip to Cabo Wabo. I had never eaten this traditonal Mexican dish anywhere else before, and it knocked my socks off. Besides mole, it is my new favorite Mexican dish. The beans are also seasoned really well. The chips and salsa are a new complimentary item they give you, even at breakfast, this is a nice touch.
The bloody mary's look awesome, but the price of drinks at Cabo Wabo is as high a meal itself!
The service is really good, too. Our waiter, a frenchman named Guy, is funny and attentive. He has been at Cabo for years now and we always look forward to having him wait on us.
One last suggestion to Sammy hHgar, move your restaurant out of the basement-like atmosphere it is currently in at Harveys, or open a branch on the main street with windows!!

Umm food wise - They made chevys definitely look better! lol Not that I'm hating on chevys.. I actually like Chevys!
Their food is just meh. Husband didn't like his chicken taco plate. I ordered the grilled carne asada and it wasn't so bad..
Drinks - Husband ordered the top shelf margarita and it was way too sweet!
Mine was also not so bad.
But I do remember the food was better the first time I tried this place...But that was few years ago.
Service was friendly though and fast...
They need to change that ghastly uniform the ladies wear! Ok for guys but not for girls! Geez Sammy Hagar..?!
So overall it's alright.. Nothing special.
They have live music for free and that's the only reason I come here when I'm in Tahoe otherwise I'll look for another spot if I just want to eat good Mexican food...

Eh, it's a fun club at night but not great for Mexican food.  Typical casino hype.

Since it was early we were seated in a private booth which was cool.

Service was attentive. I felt sorry for the server since the booth looks like it is a pain to serve the customers. A lot of reaching.

Chips were good but the spicy salsa was mild.  The mild salsa was good.

I had the south of the border carnitas and my wife had the carne asada.

My pork was very flavorful.  Some smoke and spice to it.  Decent portions with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole and four flour tortillas.

My wife liked her carne asada with the same sides as mine and she really liked her Wabo Rita.

For five of us the bill was only 90.00 I had a beer but the other three only had waters.

The place gets rocking at night with a band and the main floor gets packed with tequila drinkers and dancing.

My friend left his wallet behind.  He called and was told it was turned into security. VERY GOOD.  VERY HONEST staff.  You don't always find that everywhere.

We were surprised at the quality of the food.  For some reason we were expecting it to be mediocre.

We will be back by ourselves and when friends come into town.

I am only giving Cabo Wabo a 3 because our waitress was wonderful.  I expected better food quality and taste from a restaurant owned by Sammy Hager.  My fish taco was the worst I have ever eaten.  My husband had the fajita combo and the meat didn't have any type of flavor at all.

I will not eat at this restaurant ever again and do not recommend it to others.

    RUN! DON'T WALK!
Absolutely the worse meal in many many years! It is a total tourist trap that does not care about the food they serve. I ordered the fish tacos and they SUCKED! I have eaten tons of fish tacos and this was hands down the worse ever! The corn tortillas were soaked in oil and I could squeezes the oil out of them with an easy squeeze between two fingers, The oil was running down my hand and arm! The fish was cold and oil soaked & It screamed diarrhea! I ate part of one and the waitress asked if it was all ok. I said no that it was horrible, She took the meal back and gave me the bill with the full price of the meal and said she was sorry and come again! Come again? Are you kidding me! NEVER AGAIN! On the way out I talked to the GM and he said can I buy you a drink? That was his answer.
Sammy, you should be ashamed of what your place is! Many many years in Baja Mexico for me and I dont  know if I will even go back to your place in Cabo!  I go every year too!
Take my advice peeps and dont even try it! I wish I would have looked at the reviews before I went!
    RUN....DONT WALK!

NO, NO, NO!!! This place screams TOURIST TRAP!! And we fell in. Wish I would have checked the yelp reviews on this place before we wasted our time/money. Let me put it this way, Taco Bell is a 5 star meal  compared to this place. Was with a party of 6 and the food reviews went from meh to one sending their food back to the kitchen and taken off the bill. Salty, salty food, ingredients seemed old/low quality.
Even the margaritas leave something to be desired. Did I mention the food was salty? Maybe that's their ploy to get their customers to drink their mediocre margaritas...
    And no kids menu.

Cabo Wabo is one of only three real clubs in the small grouping of casinos on the South Lake Tahoe strip. Unlike the other two (Vex and Opal), it has (or tries to have) a more hard rock/hanging-on-the-beach-in-flip-flops kind of vibe, courtesy of owner and former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar.

That's a hard atmosphere to maintain when you're selling overpriced drinks in the basement of a casino. It becomes a strange mix of people who take the vibe literally by showing up in shirts and Hawaiian shirts and drunk clubbers in tube dresses and dress shirts. The biggest plus is their usual assortment of top-notch rock, reggae and blues cover bands, all of which deliver consistently.

My advice: Gamble upstairs, get loaded on free drinks then stop in late on a Friday night. The cover will be low and it's a great time to watch the freak show hit the dance floor.

Came in with a small group of girlfriends. There were four of us total.

Server seemed completely overwhelmed and was rude. Food was mediocre at best. Server was M.I.A. Food continued to be disappointing. Had to find different server so we could pay our bill and GTF out of there.

I'm going to give this place a five because it was really exactly what I needed this weekend, but I want to give a four for the noise level. Though, I'm sure that's what attracts some of the crowd. But it's just a little too noisy for me. And that was at 6:30 pm (Cinco de Mayo 2012). I really just wanted some good chips and salsa and 'Fire & Ice' up the street had almost ruined my Cinco with their prepackaged cr*p in a basket. So I was really on the hunt for some good, fresh stuff!

We stopped at Cabo Wabo (located inside Harvey's but if I remember, sort of in the tunnel near where it connects to Harrah's), and we waited for what seemed like a LONG time for a table in the bar area to open. Must've been less than 20 minutes because that's what a table wait was and we had our name down for whatever opened first. We found a bar table next to a bachelorette party, which is when I made the decision that I want my bachelorette to be around this party of Tahoe! Saw a bunch of parties and they looked soooo fun! So that's exactly what I want!

A friendly server (Agnieszka) came over quick and checked back on us several times. 100% 5 star service. She was awesome. Seriously! Pure AWESOME!! We had seen amazing-looking nachos but stuck to the chips and salsa ($5). I CANNOT believe this was ONLY $5. There were a TON of warmed chips: fresh, with red and green and yellow corn colors!! She brought out two bowls of the same salsa. I asked for a hotter one, which she also brought but I think the "mild" salsas were hotter! So did my fiance. We told her this and she said they made it fresh from scratch so it's different every time. I LOVE THAT. She checked back up on us a lot, but not too much. That can get annoying but it was always perfect timing with her. And she was busy!! And smiling!!

We had two salted house margaritas on the rocks ($8 ea) and we had expected to pay about that and they didn't disappoint. They weren't particuarly strong but they were really good. (Our total spent was $21.36)

Oh, and the owner (Sammy Hagar) was walking around the place and stopped and said hi to us!!! Oh em gee. A nice celebrity. I approve. I will most certainly make a point to dine here next time we're in South Lake. Honestly though, I dno't see myself ever even trying something other than the chips and salsa!!!

Only one reason why we went here and only one reason why we stayed...we hand drank too much and needed to sober up with a large quantity of food.  It was a Saturday night and after spending a very large amount of time at Fire and Ice around the corner we needed to get some food in our systems.

The wait wasn't too long, probably only 15min.  When we were seated it probably took them 20 minutes to get over to me for the first time.  When the server finally made it over I ordered everything right there for my whole table even though some of them were in the restroom (we were starving and I got permission).  The food was pretty quick to come out.  I ordered the combo plate of tacos and enchiladas.  Both were incredibly plain and boring.  It was expensive but would have been worth the $17 had the food been halfway decent or the service reasonable.  Watch out when going here.

Got there and waited 15 minutes to be seated. It was not busy at all and the staff saw us standing there and ignored us. I asked one of the staff, which I thought was a manager due to her name badge and uniform, if the hostess was going to seat us or we just find an area to sit and she replied with oh someone will seat you.
We proceeded to wait just to be starred at by staff while they talked to each other, and they lost our business. Don't go there

We go here when we're visiting Tahoe. The most recent visit was during NYE weekend. Supposedly they were charging $50 to party there on NYE. Everything was roped off and it looked official...

We came here during the day for drinks and snacks before gambling. The appetizers on the menu were pricey! We ordered the nachos, it was huge!! We shared it among 7 people. I could understand why it's expensive.

Our server was friendly. I'd come back here.

Cabo Wabo... to me as good at it gets for my taste!  Yes I Cabo'd and I Wabo'd my way back to my room.  I didn't eat any food tonight, only for the Nightlife and the live music.  The band: "The cool black kettle", pretty good Jess is the singer and player all in one lol.. talking with the ladies all night long.  Chris the drummer, Jeremy the bass, and I forget the other guitar, but they are all very nice and spent some time at my table talking.
The Bud Light was only $2 all night, and Nicky the bar tender was ummm .. let's just say a pleasure to give money too.  For Drinks I mean. Ok.. lets be clear.. drinks.. .. ok..
The place was really nice, everyone was dancing and there was not an ugly person in the crowd if you know what I mean. This evening was very nice, relaxing, exciting, and loads of fun.  Ya wanna Cobo Wabo with me???

Meh. I was extremely disappointed in this place. We went here on a Monday night and they only had the bar seating open and bar menu only. I should have listened to my Yelpers more carefully because we ordered the sampler. At $17 this was the smallest piece of s**t sampler I have ever eaten. The portions are tiny and you are left hungry.

We also ordered the house margarita and it wasn't anything to write home about.

I did come here the following night because they had a live Johnny Cash cover band which was music to my drunken ears (literally), and it was pretty busy. Again, go for the drinks...skip the food.

    Oh Cabo, you touristy trap.

I have to give our waitress credit. She was friendly and totally helpful. Granted, my friends and I were among the few there around this early evening break. Though she made our experience there worth returning for.

The margaritas are, I think, what have to pull people here. I ordered the Rockstar (Fruit punch flavored) Margarita, and HELLO! This drink not only was delicious, it was packed with tequila. For a 16oz sized plastic cup, this drink had me giggling with delights as I left. The $8 price tag was worth every sip.

What had me SERIOUSLY disappointed was the sampler platter. $17 dollars for the most pathetic plate of food I have ever seen. Gee, TWO CHILD SIZED SLICES OF A QUESADILLA? You really shouldn't have. My friends and I were convinced that sampler platter at $17 HAD to be enough to split. Oh no, there was barely enough for 2. The nacho appetizers were double the size and half the cost. What a let down.

I will gladly return here to get my drink on, but never to get my food on.

Nothing we ordered at our recent dinner visit met our expectations.

Cabo Wabo has a specialty margarita menu, on which each drink has about two or three ingredients too many.  They're all overly complicated. Unless you like super-sweet brightly colored "girly girl" cocktails, I recommend going for something simpler.

We had good service, but the food was disappointing. My carnitas were incredibly salty. The beans and rice that came with the dish were very bland. My husband had chicken tacos. The chicken looked good, but it was dry. My daughter ordered a burrito which fell apart the minute she cut into it. She wasn't pleased with the taste of it, either.  Nearly all of it went uneaten.

I had a better experience on a previous visit, but I'm not in a rush to return here.

I thought I was doing well avoiding Cabo Wabo like the plague while we were staying at Harveys/Harrahs all last season. Then one morning we went to use our dining credit for breakfast at the casino's generic American restaurant only to discover an hour long wait. Walking through Harvey's basement on our way back to the room we noticed that Cabo Wabo was open as well!

I still wouldn't touch this place any other time, but Cabo Wabo has the best breakfast offerings in walking distance. Excellent Huevos Rancheros and Chilaqles.

Cabo Wabo can be a fun club sometimes but, I must say, it's a bit STRANGE. It's particularly strange on a Sunday night...! Four of us showed up last Sunday night around 11:30 PM after our friends' wedding. Everyone was planning to after-party at Cabo Wabo but the plan changed before we got the memo. So, we started at the bar where I tried to order a Corona Light but the bartender encouraged me to order a Corona (regular) since it was on special for $2. I can't resist a "deal" so I took his advice.

Then, we headed to the dance floor where an eclectic group of (strippers? older men on e?) people were dancing to the DJ's picks. When they announced a dance contest with an $100 prize, we couldn't resist. Basically, they told the whole dance floor to dance to three songs chosen by the DJ and then the "judges" would pick the winners. It was pretty funny to watch the whole dance floor "try harder" to dance and win the $100. After we didn't win the dance contest (surprise, surprise), we had "enjoyed" enough entertainment and decided to head up to the more "normal" casino scene. It was not my first time at Cabo Wabo and I'm sure it will not be my last... but I will not be rushing back too quickly either!

This is the douchiest place I've ever been!

Terrible beer selection served in 12 ounce plastic cups at $6 each. II tried to force myself to drink two Blue Moons and threw up back into the cup before I could finish the second one.

The place is full of flip flops, Ed Hardy, Axe body spray, and carefully askew baseball caps. For some reason there are bras all over the walls.

Worst of all it's a 3G dead zone so I couldn't even update facebook about how unhappy I was.

    LT -- home sweet home!

For all the times I've been to Tahoe, this is my first time here. Having fried the first Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas awhile back, I had my sights set on this beezy. And man, did it kick my butt....

One shot and two margaritas later, my world was loooooopy. My friend couldn't have said it better: "The tequila there makes you feel hungover before you feel buzzed." What in the world do they put in those things?!?

It was nice noshing a bit at the complimentary warm chips and salsa. I ordered the 2 item combo with the chile relleno and chicken taco. Okay. The chile was seriously the best chile I've ever had! Either that or I was too buzzed to tell that it was mediocre. Either way, it was pretty good. I traded my chicken taco for one of my mom's chipotle shrimp tostada since she said it was way too spicy for her. I didn't get a chance to taste the tostada yet since the booze filled my tummy.

For killer margaritas that will knock you out of your boots, this is your spot. The food....not so much.

I think "Cabo Wabo" must be Spanish for the feeling one gets after ingesting this horrible attempt at Mexican food.

Actually, to be fair to our gastronomically enjoyable neighbors to the south, I don't really want to call this Mexican...or food...

We got pretty tanked here on two occasions over Labor Day Weekend.

The first night there were 2 fights; the first one involved a security guard THROW a guy down on the ground about 8 inches away from me (and he would have hit me too, but thanks to my much more aware friend I was pulled to safety), and they continued to wrestle for a while.  The second fight actually involved a girl we were with.  She didn't do anything, but some crazy chick got in her face about something, not sure what, she was screaming incomprehensibly, and the crazy chick was dragged out.

The live band was ok, really excellent musicians, but they definitely played the bar music.

The next night was less eventful, but had better dance music.

It was convenient to go to cause it was 4 stories below our room.

At some point I'm pretty sure I told some guy I was from Edinburgh.  GO ERIKA!
