On a recent visit to Youngstown from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my parents and I visited Cafe 422 for lunch. It had been recommended by friends who live nearby. When we got there, what we found was a very nicely appointed restaurant with bar. A restaurant with this interior would be at home in any large metropolitan city.
The waitstaff was extremely attentive but not "underfoot." Mom had the pasta bolognese and Dad and I had the Buffalo chicken salad with hand-breaded chicken tenders. The Buffalo sauce was flavorful; the blue cheese dressing was housemade. Did I mention the housemade, warm bread? We are all fanatics and tough customers when it comes to bread and, when we left, there wasn't a piece to be seen anywhere on the table. Delicious!
Overall, the food was excellent, the space was beautifully designed and executed, the staff was attentive but not interfering. I asked our waitress if the restaurant had a happy hour. She said she thought so but didn't know the details since she was new. Despite that, we decided that this would be our "go-to" restaurant in Youngstown for lunch and dinner.
