Had an excellent dinner here last week. Â We've driven by so many times, but thought this place was a breakfast/lunch place. Â The sign out front has a drawing of a coffee cup, which is misleading for someone looking for a dinner. Â The venue is very comfortable, and the dinner menu is high caliber. Â We had flounder stuffed with crab imperial and scallops as our entrees. Â Both came with 2 substantial sides of our choosing. Â Very well prepared and the price was good. Â (most entrees $25 or under). Will definitely return.
Review Source:Just got back from a wonderful dinner at Cafe on 26! Our table enjoyed the filet mignon and the salmon, both topped with crab meat.
We started the meal with some excellent bread and good glasses of wine, which were pretty reasonably priced.
The pieces of crab were huge. The filet was perfectly cooked, as was the salmon. The portions were generous enough that everyone felt comfortably full, but we didn't have any leftovers.
We ended the meal with a phenomenal chocolate and espresso cupcake with salted caramel sauce. It was every bit as good as it sounds.
The restaurant was very cozy, with only   about twelve tables. The service was good and everyone was friendly. It's a little pricey, but we felt like it was worth it given the quality of the food. We will definitely be back!
I would love to tell you how this restaurant is, but sadly we were not able to eat here. I went to Cafe on 26 this past Saturday night with three of my girlfriends based on the reviews that I saw on yelp. We arrived and then two other parties of two arrived behind us while we were waiting for the host. The host asked if we had made reservations and when we said we had not he immediately made a sour face as if I had insulted him by showing up without a reservation. Then he asked the other two parties if they had reservations. One did and one did not. He immediately sat BOTH of the parties of two, even though we had come in before the other party that did not have a reservation. Then he returned and told us that we would have to leave because there would be no way he could seat us that evening. I understand that because it was a small restaurant there may not have been seating enough for our party of four, I was just put off by the way it was handled. Also, being in our mid to late 20s we were the youngest people in the restaurant by a good 30 years. Not a place that I would recommend trying unless you make a reservation in advance.
Review Source:We have since gone back there for both brunch and for dinner.  Absolutely amazing.  Their brunch was great - their scrapel was the best  I have ever had!  My wife had the chicken salad and my daughter had the creme-brulee french toast. The french toast was like eating dessert!! Â
For dinner again, we went specifically for their prime rib and also for the crab bisque - during brunch another customer was raving about the crab bisque.... Â Again, we were not disappointed!
I would highly recommend Cafe on 26. Â Local family owned restaurant and not the typical Bethany restaurant that churns out table after table. Â This is a small restaurant - maybe about 10 tables for a nice quiet dinner.
I went to Cafe 26 several times for carry out. They have a good selection of sandwiches -- all of which can be prepared on gluten free bread with no modifications to the sandwich. It was great to have a crab cake and a ruben again! The quinoa salad is also yum. If you are gluten free and at the beach, the Cafe is a must! In fact even if you are not gluten free, you will love -- my husband did. Next up, breakfast!
Review Source:The Cafe on 26 offers their entire menu Gluten-free and their menus state they specialize in gluten-free food. With delicious in house baked bread, bagels and other snacks this is a real treat for this that must, or choose to follow, a gluten free diet.
We ordered sandwiches all around, I had the turkey with cucumber and bacon was great. A generous portion of boars head deli meat, kettle chips and a pickle accompanied. Â I also tried the grilled cheese, I'd get this again for sure! Â If I weren't so full from my sandwich I would have tried a dessert since I can never find ones I can eat elsewhere. Â They also have gluten free beer, gin and vodka.
For the kids the menu is limited. Grilled cheese is really your best option.
I left thinking this would be such a nice place to return to, we will definitely back, next time hopefully for dinner.
I was in recently on a busy Sunday night for my birthday. Â We did not have reservations but they were more than accommodating and we were seated within minutes. Â I was in with my parents and everything we had was wonderful.
My mom had the cream of crab soup and it was delicious. Â Her and I had the beef bourguignon and it was so good. Â The meat was perfectly fork tender and just the right amount of potatoes with the bourguignon.
My dad was brave and tried the soup of the day--chilled peach soup. Â I was a little skeptical of this just because the thought had never crossed my mind and thought it might be a little weird. Â I was so wrong. Â This soup was AMAZING! Â It was a great consistency and was topped with, I'm guessing, cinnamon and that gave a little spice to the sweet soup. Â I cannot wait to go back and have this soup again. Â He also had the stuffed flounder that he really enjoyed, raved about all the crab in it.
Great overall experience and can't wait to go back!
I ordered take-away and was pleasantly surprised. Â I have the veggie sandwich and all of the ingredients were so thinly sliced. Â I loved it! Â So light and perfect for a hot summer day. Â The roll it was on was nothing special.
That's it. Â Sorry it's not more. Â I'll add on after another visit.
