Used to love this place until I met two friends here for some hookah and wine , only to show up and be denied a smoking tip because its "only 2 to a hookah" . Really ?! So the last 10 times I was here with 15 people it was ok ?! Talked to the owner , his response was .. " how do you expect me to pay for the DJ if everyone smokes off the same hookah ?" WOW! Not my problem buddy! Maybe you should plug in the good ole' iPod ! Never again will I go ...

I've been coming to Caffe Amor for a year and a half when the previous owner had it. I can not talk enough about how much I adore the new owners and the service they provide for their costumers!

The food is amazing, they have a variety of drinks from beer to wine and soft drinks, and of course hookah. If you have any questions about anything they are more then happy to help you.

I've never felt so comfortable at any caffe/lounge and would never go any where else. Plus they have belly dancers and a DJ on the weekends which is always packed! Everyone most go there to see what I mean :)

This place is great! The prices are the best in town and the owners are very friendly. The hours are wrong on here though. They close at midnight Monday-Thursday, the close at 2am on Friday & Saturday.

Was a customer everyday... Up until the new owners came in. I use to pay $10 for hookah and the last time I went in I was told since I don't come everyday I will be charged $13 from their on out. Ill never be going there again. It's not the $3 difference it's the principle and that's not how to keep a customer. Ill take my business else where. Ps food portions are smaller and more pricey. Not worth a dime

I've heard this place is under new management which sucks because I loved it just the way it was!:( The guy with the ponytail (which I assume was the former owner)would always hook my boyfriend and I up. Seems like everything went up a little, piecewise. I've been there twice since the new owners took over, just to be disappointed. The rice has no flavor anymore! They didn't have lemon mint flavor for the hookah! And worst of all we couldn't have more than 2 coals apparently its a "new rule". So I'm sad to say;been there, done that. But its time to look for a better place to chill....on the upside they have this new flavor called Ambrosa and it rapidly became my newly found love. Good thing is that the smoke shop across the street has that flavor...therefore I have no reason to go back to this cafe. Good luck to the new owner. Which by the way always seems to have a boot up her ass,or SOMETHING tickling the need to yell at everything and everyone.

The girls and workers are GREAT only reason I go back the new owners on the other hand the lady sounds CRAZY! So awkward when she screams at her employees infront of customers so unprofessional ! The more the lady owner is their the more ghetto its becoming what a shame the cafe is so cute

Not a cafe. Not a cafe. NOT. A. CAFE.

Where do I start? Maybe with a story. So I decide to drop in here one night with a friend because they seem like a small business with a specialty in coffee and snacks, you know, like a CAFE. They are open late too, which makes this place sound like the ideal coffee stop!

Anyways, we order a white mocha and something else upon arrival. They take our order and our money. We expect a short wait for some delicious coffee. Oh my God, not since the rise of Hitler has any human being been so wrong.

I'll get back to that in a second though. So as we are waiting for what seemed like three quarters of a life sentence in federal-do-me-in-the-butt-prison we made some astute observations.

This "CAFE", well,  it's also a hookah joint. Wait, it's actually ONLY a hookah joint but we don't realize how bad the coffee is just yet, since only a few minutes have gone by out of our 20+ minute wait.

Fast forward a few minutes, other customers are getting served various things before us despite the fact that they arrived and ordered after us. Weird huh? It almost felt like she forgot our order so I went to ask politely, the woman was oblivious to my ugly-ass can-I-get-your-attention-face despite being dead center from her across the bar.

I decided to walk back to my seat, slowly becoming more and more impatient as time went by but alas, she seemed to have started some coffee drinks... But wait, what is this!? She is pouring something into a cup filled with ice and water transforming it into a murky mix of what was claimed to be a white mocha. I forget what took her another 5 minutes to get it from this point to finishing the drink but my my suspicion is that the lid must have been hard to get on.

We finally received the drink minus whipped cream, no biggie though I was just happy I finally got my drink! I took a gulp and all I tasted was a mouthful of coffeehouse instant coffee half-assedly dissolved into tap water, I didn't care though I just wanted some caffeine at this point.

The waiter dude walked by and told us that the "barista" wanted to know if she made the drink right so I decided it wasn't a bad idea to mention that it was a bit watery. After all, she asked, right?

    They took the drink back.

At this point we're drink-less for another few minutes. I was only staying to get a caffeine fix but i realized the instant coffee wasn't going to do the job, screw the drinks. We decided to leave.

As we're getting in the car they walk out with the drinks and offer them to us. Since I really do hate wasting food and drink I decided to take it and be nice. I honestly tried to stomach the white mocha but I couldn't..

I don't recommend  going here unless you just want to look cool doing hookah. It's not a cafe. They don't have a clue what they are doing with the coffee drinks.

    Horrible service!

First let me say that I have been here many times when it was under previous ownership. I will NEVER return! The waitress took 20mnts to give us the hookah. After she starts chatting it up withher friends. Completely ignores us mind you there e'er only three tables there including ours. So our charcoal burns out and I noticed she bright her friends a fresh set so I asked if we could get one aswell.  She comes back and says no because they were closing. So I asked why she didn't even offer us any while she was getting some for her friends. She rolls her eyes and says she's going to call the mgr/owner. He comes and is immediately defensive and tells me yi didn't ask for charcoal sooner. I have never gone to a hookah lounge where I've had to ask for more charcoal. Let alone ONE switch out. So the waitress comes back out and starts yelling and approaching me in an intimidating manner. I'm the customer! Why should I feel threatened? So he tells her to go inside and as I'm leaving her friends start trying to start trouble. It's ridiculous that someone would stand behind such a horrible employee. I understand sometimes customers are demanding but really I've never been so mistreated in my life. I do not recommend anyone to go there. The food quality has decreased since the ownership aswell as its cuatomer service.

We just moved into town and needed to use Internet since ours wasn't hooked up yet. The service was excellent and very friendly. We just ordered drinks. The server recommended the dirty chia and it was very good. We will be making this place a regular stop.

Nice little- what should I call it? Cafe? Hookah bar? Restaurant? Hang out spot? This place serves everything and they're open late. It's the only cafe within 20 miles that's open until 10pm. Even then, the owners will stay open later if there's people. My family and I stopped in 15 minutes before closing time and the owners were very hospitable. I was impressed. Usually, people will tell you to GTFO right before closing but, no, they were very welcoming. I had what you would call "service with a smile". I will definitely be coming here again.

The only downside is the location. It can be a bit difficult to find.... But when you do find it, definitely worth it :-)

Average espresso and unless you are into hookah, not a great place to hang out in the evening.

Went here last night to hang out with family. They had ordered a large combination platter with different meats. The chef grills everything outside to order, and the smell was just overwhelming. I honestly wasn't even hungry, but of course wanted to sample the food that looked so amazing. One bite of the beef brochette and I was fully prepared to grab the entire platter and make a run for it. Holy cow! It was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The lula kabobs were just as delicious; we're talking juices running down my chin, shoveling two hands in my mouth at one time kind of good. The chicken kabobs were spiced perfectly and full of flavor. Platter came with roasted tomatoes, jalapenos and onions, some rice and bread. We were a party of five and it completely filled us up.

The owner and staff were all very nice and took good care of us. I look forward to going back.

I have been to this place once and had a great chicken salad.
On my way home with my girlfriend I thought ot would be nice to go and get another salad. It was around 6pm that we called in our order.
When we called the person manning the phone couldnt understand our order, we just wanted chicken salads with ranch but we mustve not been easy to hear so I thought nothing of it
Thinking we were 20 minutes away we would have our food ready to get in and get out, but we were wrong...
We. Get to the cafe and see our salads already prepared and I think its just about done so i wait by the register, 5 minutes later and still nothing
So we wait some more and we were offered water while we wait so we get the water and go amd have a seat.
We waited an extra 30 minutes for our chicken that we were told was put on the grill as we arrived. We keep waiting until I stand up and see that our salad has just been sitting there and i already knew it was going to be soggy. Then as im getting closer the owner stopped me running out to the grill saying only a minute til its done, so I sat and waiting knowing thst it was probably barely getting cooked.
One it was finally ready it had already been an hour since we first placed our order. Our chicken was burnt and our salad soggy and brown for sitting for so long.
Not beimg one to just leave food to be thrown away i pay just to get out of there
As km being ringed up i see that i have been charged almost double of what the price of two salads
So i try amd see what is being charged and they saw that and fixed the error.
Needless to say it is the last time I will be going there

Me, my friend and his fiance were looking for a nice mellow place to go to on a Sunday afternoon... I had heard about this place so I mentioned it to them and they were good with it...  Positives I noticed right way 1) the inside decorated very nicely, 2) great prices for coffee and 3) good selection for Hookah... But then that is when it started getting really bizarre... I assume the guys was the owner, older assyrian dude, with a pony tail drinking a Corona... He looked extremely agitated we were there and that we ordered 3 frappucinos and a Hookah... He had a very bad attitude, but i could care less b/c the small frap was only $2, medium $3, and large $4... Hell of a deal, and the hookah was only $15, and the patio area was nice with a good view of the basketball game... We were outside hanging out, and we asked the waitress for another frapp, but this time just a small.. For $2, you cant go wrong.... She comes back and says that will be $5... I was like why $5?  And she points to the owner and says i dont know, but that is what he wanted me to charge you guys...  WTF?!?  Nothing on the coffee menu is $5, so why would a small frapp now cost $5?   She offered no explanation took the $5, and then they owner kept giving us funny looks the whole time... And the entire time we were outside, we were saying how this place is pretty nice, and we should start coming here more often... Not no more.....

Stopped in today to get a bite to eat- didn't know about the hookah bar until I walked in...that's what I get for Yelping while hungry and trying to get from point A to point B while looking for a place to eat.  Very nice place with a friendly group of employees.  We sat on the patio enjoying the fresh air and music.  I loved the music mix while we were there.  I ordered the gyros & hubby had a turkey sandwich on Dutch crunch...The veggies were fresh & the sandwiches were not only picture perfect but very tasty.  Two thumbs up from the nonsmokers...one couple was smoking on the patio...nice sweet aroma of smoke in the air.  Didn't bother either of us in the least-not that we would have a had a right to complain, after all that's what this place is about.   The couple next to us was raving about their Greek salad and it looked very good too...all in all I'll be back...this is a charming place to grab a bite & have a nice chat with friends.

On a visit from the bay, I decided to try this place out with 2 others.  Its an easy place to miss due to its location.  We came here for beer/wine and hookah.  We did not order any foods!  The lighting of the place was nice and dim.  Seating is good with a smaller out door seating section.  While some of the staff was helpful and friendly, others seemed to want to be left alone.  Prices on drinks were good and even the hookah pricing was good with maybe 12 different flavors of shisha.  Our drinks and hookah took at least 10-15 minutes to arrive.  Way too long in my opinion!  Beer was cold and the shisha was good.  There is some outdoor heating.  We were given a bowl of free mixed nuts.
Overall, my experience was ok.  Again, I'm just reviewing my experience focusing on the hookah aspect.  I expect places like this to be in a relaxing setting, and this place had some good, although there was a group that appeared to be very frequent customers, but seemed real shady.  Like you don't want to owe them money or you might end up with your body parts being left under the Hollywood sign type of deal.  Pretty girls were being preyed on by these men and it was pretty excessive.  The ladies weren't having it, so they eventually left.  The place also got crowded fast.  It wasn't a bad experience, however, I know there are places out there much better for the hookah smoking minded person.

First impression I thought the counter service was little rude. The guy with pony tail says "we don't split sandwiches" when we looked over and saw a party of 2 eating... Guess what? A split sandwich! So we just ordered 1 pastrami sandwich & 1 cup of soup for me and 1 cup of soup for my wife + 2 waters.  That's probably why he was rude. We only spent $10. Order came split on 2 plates even though we thought we had to secretly split it ourselves. Thanks!  Fresh pastrami sandwich tastes great and potato soup is good but might be out of a can, can't really tell. Nice atmosphere. Probably better ambiance at night instead of the afternoon. If you looking for a sandwich place it's okay. I have definitely experienced better. I would come again if nearby but wouldn't go out of my to come back.

I was here with my boyfriend a couple of weeks back. He got a zebra mocha (I think), which he said was wonderful. We sat outside with a small hookah (13$ per bowl, 8$ for a refill, what a steal!) and smoked for a while. Its a lovely atmosphere inside and outside. The place is tucked in a little shopping center between rumble and standiford.

I've only been here once on a school lunch break, but it was really good. Nice quiet place and a super fresh salad. The sandwiches looked really good too. It took a little while, so I'll probably order ahead next time, bout I'll definitely come back.

I have found a piece of heaven in Modesto. I stumbled upon Amoree and love it. Your not a number here. The staff is very friendly, happy to help, love their job and it shows. This establishment is very clean, warm and inciting with comfy couches and big chairs or deli style tables for eating if you prefer. The menu is an open delight. They have coffee with a menu that challenges Starbucks (without the rushed feeling), pastries (a few), bagels or oatmeal for breakfast items, sandwiches that beat out anywhere else as they are unique but specialized toward your likes (type of bread and dressings, onions versus not any, eggplant added to the cheese and pesto sandwich...ie) they also serve wine and beer as well as a wonderful hookah selection.
Great place to chill out during the day to work or have lunch with friends to catch up or go their during the evenings on fri, sat to dance to DJ led music and enjoy wonderful company.
     You won't be disappointed!!!!!!!

So I am not familiar with the previous cafe and I don't care.  My experience at the current cafe amore was great. Everyone is super nice and welcoming from Steve to the owner homer. There hooka is the best in town and its a beautiful and clean cafe. They have a variety of selection and they have more then reasonable prices. I highly reccomend it.

I'm not completely won over by Cafe Amore (I used to go at least once a week when it was Cafe Genowa). The coffee drinks are well-priced, but just ok when it comes to taste. The last person who made my drink there relied on a cheat sheet to guide him through making a mocha. Is it that hard? On the other hand, there is always plenty of seating and they seem friendly towards groups.

I'm so glad that we stumbled upon this little gem!  It's a little challenging to find the location, but once we did we stayed for a few hours.  The staff is attentive without being obtrusive, knowledgeable about the hookah and what flavors we would like.  They have fantastic beer and wine specials and a lovely patio, not to mention the hookah prices are also the best deals in town.  If you want a packed place and club music (I surely didn't) this is not the place to go. The owner and his girlfriend treated us with great kindness, can't wait to go back!

Pros:  Free Wifi, Hookah!, Great outdoor seating, Tri Tip Fridays!
    Cons: Location, parking

I liked this place back when it was Caffe Genowa and now I like it as Caffee Amore.  It's located across the street from the Paul Mitchell Partner School which makes it a great place for me to go after I get my hair cut and before yoga.  However, it's out of the way if you're not running an errand directly next door or across the street.  The parking is somewhat of a mess too; people always seem to have HUGE cars which they have no idea how to park inside the normal size spaces.

Their normal menu sandwiches are fairly good but I wouldn't say spectacular but their Tri tip (which they BBQ on the premise on Fridays) sandwich is pretty good.  I'm not super impressed by their bakery selection (muffins look like they came directly from Costco...) but they do have a lot of drinks, including soft drinks.

My favourite addition to this place is the beautiful outdoor seating area for you to smoke hookah or just enjoy the afternoon sun.  There's even a table outside of the gated area where you can sit if you have your dog with you (which I always do).

I definitely enjoy the free Wifi and the welcoming atmosphere.  The staff is always friendly :)  I highly recommend it if you're looking for someplace to burn a few hours or do some work you just can't concentrate on at home.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in Modesto.  It has everything I could want: good coffee, good food, a decent amount of seating, and friendly workers who actually leave you alone.  It is never full of pretentious teen hipsters (*cough*queen bean*cough*), which is what makes it a 5 star joint for me.  I go here to work on papers, I go here for delicious sandwiches (try the CHP!!  there's nothing like it anywhere else...), I go here for a good place to sit with friends and chat over cheap and fresh coffee.  free wi-fi, too!

The only thing wrong with it is that it is a little hidden away in a non very busy shopping center (which doesn't bother me)... but that is the only explanation I can think of as to why it isn't the most popular coffee house in Modesto.

try it out, you'll be astonished that you had not been to this little gem before, and you'll keep coming back for more.

My family makes regular trips to Genowa on Saturdays because it is one of the last places you can visit and not feel like you are being served and moved along. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. We often need to move tables to accommodate our large group and the servers never complain about this.

The coffee drinks are very good and unique to the establishment. The food is exquisite as well.

It is a wonderful place to kick back or spend time working.
