Don't let the picture fool you, Cali's is about as ghetto as it gets.

The crowd is more disrespectful, aggressive and out of control than you will see at any of the other bars in Carbondale.  The quality and price of the drinks is pretty uniform throughout the city, as is the cost of cover. Cali's has less live entertainment and specials than any of the other bars. You will almost certainly be dragged into a fight whether you like it or not. Every time I've had to drive here I've had my truck keyed or messed with in some way.

I could go on for hours. I hate Cali's and you will regret going here.

5 dollars for cover is worth the price of admission to see 15 fights, tons of free drinks from the people buying group shots, getting into impromptu dance contests and picking up random b*tches.

Come before 11 for free cover. Actually, better make it 10:50, because they'll say it's 11 by the their watch.

This place has undergone name changes and ownership shakeups for 5 or 6 years now. It really started to get a bad reputation in recent years for the crowd it attracted and the violence that was inevitable.
After going from Carboz to Club Sin, it is now called Cali's and has a breath of fresh air for those of us that remember going to Carboz when we were 19 trying to find a good time. The place looks pretty good. The dance floor is a little more open by the DJ booth, where they used to have tables. They took out the side champagne room and made it an alternative bar. The service is still lacking a bit because they have to use bouncers to serve drinks during the night because the solo bartender gets swamped. They are open Thursday nights now, which I don't remember the previous club versions being open for... and I haven't paid a cover yet in the two times I have gone recently.
The music is shifted more towards the mainstream of the audience. You won't hear many No Limit classics anymore as it's more top 40. Nonetheless, in my first two appearances I was mildly impressed at the upgraded experience.
Friday night, nearly everything was $1, and they had pitchers of rail mixers like Vodka and Red Alert for $5. Needless to say I don't remember too much about this night, but the service was great, the club was packed and the drinks were cheap!
