Nothing fancy about this bowling alley, which is one of the reasons I like it here. Their staff is always helpful, and they have comfortable bowling shoes, which is important if you're planning on bowling for awhile. If you want something to eat, there is a restaurant attached to the bowling alley but it's not that good. Nice people working there, but there isn't anything special about the food and it's a been old fashion. Still, if you just want to bowl a few games it's not a bad place to go. Bargain prices.
Review Source:This is absolutely your typical, stuck in the late 80's, bowling alley. This, of course, isn't a bad thing, but don't expect the Canoga Park Bowl to leave you with everlasting memories. We arrived late on a Tuesday night, and the bowling alley was almost empty. Luckily for us their rates were cheap ($3 per person per game & $2 for shoe rentals), so we were able to play a lot of games; in fact, after our 3rd game the managment gave us a 4th game for free! The bar area, which was also empty at the time, was spacious with an extremely friendly bartender. Easily the best feature of this location, however, was the attached (24-hour) diner. The comfort food they served was tasty and, best of all, cheap. I will certainly be back to play a few games with friends in the future.
Review Source:The Canoga Bowl Drinking Game:
1) If everyone gets a strike except for you, you chug a beer.
2) If you see someone fall while throwing the ball down the lane, you all chug a beer.
3) If you see a bowling ball slowly coming back in the gutter because some threw it too late and it hit the pin clearing mechanism and the worker guy has to come out and grab it, you all chug a beer.
4) If they bring up the bumpers in the lane next to you, you all chug a beer.
5) In the next lane, if someone throws a ball right down the middle of a 7 - 10 split and someone makes a "field goal good" sign with their hands, you all chug a beer.
6) If you see anyone bowling alone, you all chug a beer.
7) If there is a birthday group next to you, you all chug a beer.
8) If the group next to you all entered stupid ass nicknames into the system instead of their first names, you all chug a beer.
9) If you see someone playing this game, you buy them a beer and you all chug that beer.
10) If you are actually participating in steps 1 through 9, seek professional help. Seriously.
thank you for reading!
What can ya say? The Americana that exists in bowling alleys can be found no where else, and that definitely applies to the Canoga Park Bowl. I only go bowling about every 3-5 years so I'm always blown away when I go back because it's like stepping into a time machine. From the cowboy-hatted people singing karaoke in the bar, to the kids and families running around having a blast, to the standard fat-inducing and greasy snacks, it's could be the 50s, 60s, 70s or, gulp, even 2013!?
Being a former athlete, I'm always humiliated how awful I bowl, but when you're among friends and having a good it doesn't matter, or maybe even adds to the fun!
The bowling shoes they gave me fit perfect and were very clean. The computer scoring system worked perfectly, the lanes were great and every staff person I talked to was polite and personable.
GREAT place to bring kids and families, and get them doing something besides staring at and typing on a computer. They say that baseball is the great American sport, but bowling may be the sport that eternally and best represents our American culture, and I hope it lasts forever... long live bowling!
You get what you pay for.
The customer service here is atrocious. They ignore you and they don't really care about your experience.
That said, this place is dirt cheap for bowling, so who cares? The alley itself is pretty clean and all the equipment works properly. It's a great place to go if you want to bowl but don't want to pay a lot of money.
The arcade is pretty good--air hockey and such. Clean and works well enough. The machines don't always work well, so be aware that your dollar may be eaten for a half-finished game.
What a great place. I hadn't been there in over two decades, when I was in a pre-teen bowling league, but it was just as good as I remember. Better, actually, since now I can take advantage of the bar. :-)
I ventured out with a group of co-workers on a Wednesday night. We had the place completely to ourselves for over an hour, then some league players showed up and things started to get a little noisier. But it was fine.
The food was surprisingly good, and the staff was (also surprisingly) very nice. Everyone had a great time. I'll definitely be back.
This is a great throwback to an entertainment center that was all inclusive. They have a motel, a banquet hall, a dive-y bar with karaoke, a billiards room, air hockey, darts, arcade and BOWLING! It was great to see everything was still, more or less, styled from the early 80's/late 70's. Definitely reminds me of the days in the midwest where you could also smoke indoors. That part (although not a smoker) is part of the charm that comes with this type of place.
The games are cheap. $3/game $2/shoe rental. Or you can go with any of their late night specials. They're also open 24 hours.
On this night, after my date and I went to bowl and play billiards, we decided to hang out at the bar and do karaoke. So much fun. The regulars were out this night. And they are so much fun. They did tunes I remember listening to on oldies stations. And they are GOOD.
This is a fun time-waster place. A good hang out for kids (as I saw no shady elements). Cheap enough to get them out of your hair for a few hours. Drinks are a bit pricey. But I like that I'm contributing to keep it alive.
The place is nostalgic fun.
I took the family here for a fun bowling day, and we had a blast. Â We came on a Saturday morning and there were planty of lanes available. Â The place is well lit, and very well kept. Â The shoes were in good condition, and the counter employees were friendly. Â I haven't tried the cafe yet, but it was pretty busy while we were there, so I'm taking that as a positive. Â Being a father of 3 small kids, I had to make numerous trips to the bathroom, which i found very well kept as well. Â Sorry, but Bathroom cleanliness is very important to me in any venue, you know what I'm sayin'? Â All in all, a very fun time and I'm sure we'll be back again.
Review Source:So it is a little ghetto and a little dank, but it is still a good place to bowl. They have reasonable deals. We went on a Wednesday where they have each game for only $.25 let us bowl to our hearts content. There is a bar that would be considered a dive bar inside with a mild selection of beer and decent selection of liquor, there is also karaoke in that room some nights if you are interested in that.
Over all it is a decent place to bowl it is just a little run down looking.
Alright so I haven't bowled in over 5 years. In the two hours I was there I got ONE strike. Yesssssss, I got to do my victory dance at least once!
My friends wanted to bowl and since we were all sleeping over at one of my gf's place, we came to this neighborhood bowling alley. The place is a little rundown, but what bowling alley isn't? We all bowled one game and then half our group went over to the bar area to karaoke. The crowd at this bowling alley is interesting... mostly a bunch of older ladies and men over 45 so it must've been odd to see a bunch of Asian girls in their in their mid twenties here. I have no complaints, but there are a lot of things that seem outdated.
On the bright side, they played great music to dance to on the night I was there. It was like bringing the club to the bowling alley!
Family fun on Sunday mornings at an affordable price! We go for the  Sunday Practice Special 7  A.M. until Noon( I think they just extended it the hours too) $2.00 per game and $2.00 for shoe rental.
The kiddos love to bowl and at this price it is reasonable. The lanes and overall facility are well maintained. Like all old school bowling alleys they have an attached coffee shop to get your comfort food fixes while knocking down those pins!
They have tons of other specials and the have their own semi private parking lot with
ample and safe parking right there.  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.canogaparkbowl.com%2Fpages%2FBowling_Specials.html&s=0e6f0fc38d1fbfecbc0d1c8a23021b1558da7a4f61e3dc0a733606a73cfc652a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.canogaparkbow…</a>
What can I say we are regulars and we like it!
Getto bowl! Its connected to the Best Western so you can hear the Mariachi bands blasting LOL! Nothing special about this location, there are better bowling centers in the Valley.
Came for a B-Day party. There is a coffee shop attached where you can order fried appetizers and pizzas for the party. You can bring your own cake. There is a full bar at reasonable prices and at 8pm put on your boots and cowboy hat for Karaoke LOL. Â The added benefit, walk across the street for a Cupids chilidog!!
I've never been here and I've lived my whole life in the Valley...
All, I know is... that it's the Justin Bieber bowling alley. How I know that... I have no idea actually... but I know it.
We originally went here to play pool (I actually didn't see a pool hall but there apparently is one here...) but I can not pass up bowling. I really love it actually... (okay, as a kid my mom would chastise me for watching the guys on tv) although I haven't been all that many times.
So my friends took me out for some fun... apparently, bowling is very destressing to me. Maybe it's the fact that I can take all my aggression and throw that stupid ball down the lane as hard as I can. It soothes me though... and I needed to be soothed tonight.
It's $40 for 2 hours. With 4 people that worked out to $10 which was awesome. We were able to fit in 3 games... which was tons of fun.
On a side note: I won every single game... by a long shot every single game. I was grinning... being cheered on by my fellow compatriots and screaming my head off when I striked and hit these seemingly impossible split shots and one pin shots! :) Yes, I get very into bowling!
Also, I was told that I looked exactly the same as I did in high school. Hilarious!
Wow... is this place really 24 hours?! I'd love to come here in the middle of the night and just bowl my little heart out...
I will not be back. Â It's funny to read so many positive reviews, because while the bowling was fun, the experience was not great. Â We walked in past a group of people right outside the door smoking. Â We walked up to get shoes and pay for one game, but there was no one around. Â We were looking around for a minute, and even starting searching around corners to find a bowling ally worker. Â At least two minutes passed before the attendant walked inside. Â Lo and behlod, it was one of the smokers we had to walk past to get inside the ally. Â Did he really make us wait for him to finish his smoke? Â Really? Â Lame. Â
We told him we'd like to pay for one game (there are three of us). Â We asked for one pair of size three shoes, one pair of size nine, and my cousin told the guy, "I will also be playing, but I brought my own shoes." Â Now, for those who are bad at math, that's three people playing (size three shoes is one, size nine shoes is two, and own shoes is THREE). Â Well, in the middle of the game, the lane shuts down. Â We go up to the counter, wait for this kid to come out from wherever it is that he goes when he's supposed to be maning the counter, and asked him why our game turned off. Â "You only paid for two people," he says. Â We reminded him that we told him three people were playing (size three shoes, size nine shoes, own shoes...three players). Â After some haggling, he finally agreed to allow us to finish the game. Â As if it was our fault he charged us incorrectly. Â However, he helped the people who were in line behind us before pressing the lane reset button. Â Five minutes later, we finally got to playing again.
Maybe  this kid is stupid.  Maybe he doesn't care.  Maybe he confused multiplication for addition (after all, 2 X 1 does in fact equal 2).  Maybe it was a bad day.  Don't know, don't care, there's plenty of other bowling allies where their attendents can add 1 and 2.
Okay, so bought  3 Groupons @ 40.00 each which included 2 hours of bowling for 8,  shoes and a pitcher of soda per lane.  Called up my family and had a party during extreme bowling.  Pretty good deal.  Good music,  some cool glow in the dark effects and good food from the diner.  We even got to keep the lanes for almost 3 hours.
Good fun for the whole family.
Note: Â They even have Karaoke in the Bar!!!
Maybe it means we're getting old, but my friends & I recently took up bowling, and we've been coming to Canoga Park bowl every week for the past 2 or 3 months. Staff is friendly.
They have great midweek bowling specials, the lanes are never crowded, and they have a good variety of leagues (haven't joined yet but that may be next). They're also open 24hrs if you get the hankering to bowl at 4 or 5am, which I haven't....yet.
I bought a ball and shoes from the pro shop, the guy who works there (Bob) was decently helpful. The ball seems to fit my hand, even if I'm still figuring out how to hook it.
The only area I'd knock points is the bar....first, they don't open til 5pm, and second, beers are kinda expensive (~$5) given the overall atmosphere and location. The woman who works the bar is friendly though.
Tuesdays are QUARTER MANIA days!
$6.00 entrance fee. $0.50/game. $0.50 shoes. More deals on foodies -- like $1 hotdogs, etc.
Make sure you ask for 1 size smaller in shoes.
Get there early like 9pm-10pm to score lanes, especially if you have a large group.
The bar is pretty good, the bartenders can make most drinks.
The food selection is not the greatest... lol
Cosmic bowling was awesome. They play the cool jams, too!
Everything went pretty smoothly. Fun night!
Happy bowling!
First time bowling in LA... happy it was here!
Had a daily deal but it really didn't matter! Prices are so cheap!
Clean bowling alley, friendly patrons, tons of balls ;)
I may have blown my first 3 games but you better believe I kicked the BF's little behind on the 4th game!
I will definitely be going back!
VICTORY IS MINE!
We're regulars. Everything is fine. 24 hr bowling alley, pool hall (if that's what you would call the small room with the pool tables) and arcade area. Bar closes between 1230 and 1 usually. $1 hot dogs on tues, while supplies last. Always something going on in the bar, whether its kareoke or a live band. The bartenders are nice. Drinks are made well. The bowling alley itself is very clean and the workers friendly, but that's because I know everyone there. Everything is average, but its open all the time! 3am drunk bowling anyone =)
I love my girl Kim and she can make a killer drink. Please tip her well. haha! Â =) cheers!
My boyfriend and I love this place. We are hooked!
We are here almost every Tuesday since we found out that they have $.50 bowling between 9pm-midnight. ($6 admission)
The team is helpful. They have a diner, an arcade, a bar, and billiards. Something for everyone! My boyfriend lives close by and we love it.
I also love that it's open 24 hours! :)
QUICK TIP: if you are planning on going to one of their "specials" days, get there early enough where you can get a lane. It gets really full, especially on Tuesdays. ;)
ENJOY! :)
P.S. 4 stars = if you want to get something like a hotdog (at the bar), the bartender has to help everyone who orders a drink before they can help you. Even though you've been standing there before people who want to order drinks. booooooo!
Great bowling ally! Â I don't bowl much but when I do, I like to come here. On our last trip here, we actually attended a function in their banquet room (aka convention center). Â I was really impressed because I expected a 'white box' of a room but it was actually very nice. Â It's a great place for a large family function or a business event. Â They even have a little bar in there!
I'm always recommending this ally to my friends because the management and the people that work here are always ready to make our visit a good one!
Thanks Canoga Bowl!!!
The cafe decor is old and possibly hasn't changed since the 70's but they serve the best damn fruit bowl I've ever come across in any other restaurant! I know that's something silly but if you really look its super hard to find a decent fruit bowl at restaurants these days.
OK now I'll actually review the place:
It looks old... very old. I won't hold that against it since substance matters more (most of the time) :P
More importantly, this place is fun! Tons of lanes so there isn't really a worry that they'll run our of room. True that they play music from the late 90's that makes you question why you are bowling with Britney Spears as your background but whatev...
A couple odd things are that they don't have too many bowling balls for tiny people with noodle arms *cough cough*. It makes it a little more challenging to find a ball your comfortable with to throw down the lame without self (ball) inflicted injury. Also, why isn't there a seat in front of the actual panel where you punch in names and scores? It's the most awkward design I've seen. You actually have to just crouch (even me!) down to fiddle with the score board.
The bar *sigh* I wish I could remember the bartender's name but she was a doll! I walked up to her and just mumbled "Surprise me." She smiles and whips me up a long island iced tea. When I slightly stumble in a little later and I say again, "Surprise me" (not sure if it was slurred) and she chats idly as she sets down an AMF. I didn't even know they made those at bowling alleys!!! Plus both drinks were under $20.00! That woman was an angel of inebriation.
I didn't play in the arcade too much but I remembered being very impressed as to how many up to date games they had! I did get to play air hockey which I love that they had.
All the staff was pretty nice and helped out whenever we needed it. The prices for the actual bowling wasn't that bad either.
So, if you wanna feel like your in high school again (with the benefits for being the legal drinking age) then head over here for a safe and inexpensive night of fun.
My friend and I bowled here once because we were too late for our usual bowling destination. This place was old school and a dump. When we get to the desk with shoes in hand we were stared at by Skeletor after waiting for a "how can I help you" to no avail we said we'd like to bowl. Instead of telling us the promotion she points to a sign on the desk and asks us to choose. Great customer service. well at least she put us at the end of the lanes were we weren't near anybody which was awesome and the lanes looked like actual wood not synthetic. We spent 20min trying to find a ball we could use. After all that I can't really bash bowling it's always a good time!
Pros: Old school feel, open 24hrs
Cons: poor service, no ball weight arrangement
I would go here again in a pinch but not without my own ball.
Had a late night urge to throw some balls around...Lol!! So, after a long day of close family and friends and many stories to tell upon meeting up with some buddies... me and "Cupcake" decided to hit up canoga park bowl around 2am.
Must say, being one of three groups there actually bowling at that crazy ass hour, it was still lots of fun. The service was pretty good quality with the exception that the ladies restroom. It was nasty. There was vomit on the floor right when you walked in, vomit in the sink, and a trail of vomit leading up to the toilets...yuck!
Also, The shoes here run a little big so at times I felt like i was going to slip out at any moment.
I would definitely return here, especially since its 24hrs!!
Cholos and accountants bowling together in a fun filled night? Â Yep.
This joint is as freaky as the 99cents store in Venice. Â
The night to go is on Tuesday night for the Canoga Joke and Bowl. Â The bar is filed with comedians that do 5 minute sets. Â You will see some famous people that are hilarious and you'll see some of the worst "comedians" in the history of the art. Â It's a freak show!
Then, there are the regulars...You'll just have to experience them for yourself.
Don't half step. Â Order a Dawson Springs bourbon on the rocks.
We waited about 30 minutes to bowl (we showed up on a league night), but the time was well spent playing air hockey and Time Crisis in the pseudo-arcade. Â Just minutes after we discovered the nearly empty pool room, we were called to bowl. Â We didn't get a chance to play pool, but learning that it is only $10 an hour, we are definitely going back. Â
Reserving one lane for three of us wasn't a problem, but sharing the space with the group of 7 next to us got a little crowded. Â Since there are only three chairs for each lane, the nearby group seemed too close for comfort, but overall I didn't feel completely violated of my personal space.
All three of us came to the conclusion that the night was entertaining, and we are planning on heading back (for bowling as well as pool), and on our way out we discovered a flier for $2 Practice Bowling on Sunday mornings. Â If I decide I want to become an intense bowler, I'll be taking advantage of this for sure!
Yeah, its open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Â Yeah, its fun to bowl (I bowl all the time) and especially fun when you go with a big group of friends that don't own their own bowling shoes and/or ball. Â Just add booze, and instant hilarity.
The pool room is cool too. Â Large, and usually not too long to wait since its rented by the hour.
The real kicker here tho, is the "lounge". Â Yes, the booze is good, but its really fun to watch the boozers try to sing karaoke. Â WOW, does anyone else hear the theme song to Deliverance in the background? Â Yes, rednecks abound (which is totally weird since the rest of the alley is full of vatos and cholas).
Come to bowl and drink - Stay to laugh at the singing hicks.
Best bowling alley in the Valley by far. This place is open 24/7, even on Christmas and the prices are a bit high for bowling but that have lots of specials and if you want to bowl in the middle of the night, there's no where better or cheaper to practice. There's always lots of leagues forming and opportunities to bowl. The lanes are immaculately maintained and oiled almost constantly throughout the day.
The staff here is really friendly and do a great job making sure that there's space between groups while you're bowling, so you don't have to wait too much between frames. They have a great coffee shop and bar attached and the pool room is very well maintained as well.
Make sure Homer doesn't talk you're ear off though, he has a habit of hanging around and critiquing your bowling as you go, don't take his criticisms too personally though, because there are LOTS of regulars here and they are just trying to help.
This place is open 24 hours a day and there are more lanes than at the nearby Corbin bowl but it gets 4 stars because it's also more expensive. $5 a game isn't tragic but it adds up if you get into it and want to keep playing.
Their game room leaves a lot to be desired, all they have are video games, but they have a pool room with 5 or 6 tables just behind that looks fun. Their bar is also pretty well stocked and has a cool set up. Warning though-drunk bowling may be fun when everyone's drinking, but when it's just you getting drunk it actually sucks to get worse as you get more tipsy. Yeah, I learned that the hard way. At least I can blame my horrible game on the beer though, right?
