Great dive bar experience! It's about as good as it gets in terms of a "nightlife in Los Alamos" (who would have thought such a thing existed?) drinks are moderately priced ranging from $3-$6 and they don't have any specials. I was really impressed with the pear cider on draft. Tasted a tad like white wine with its own individual flavor.
Service is friendly (I would expect nothing else from such a small town) and there is free pool/wifi and they have tons of TV sets placed all over.
A-OK... if you're in Los Alamos and looking for a dive bar experience in a strip mall, this is the place.
My understanding from locals is that there are very few bar choices in Los Alamos. Â So, Canyon Bar & Grill has a niche and should be packed, right? Â But at 7p on a Saturday night, the bar was nearly empty except for a wedding party. Â That said, the staff were nice & drinks were inexpensive. Â
Note: Â but the bathrooms were pretty grim (even for a dive bar.)
This place is such a bizarre dive bar experience you have to check it out at least once.. In summer the neighboring national laboratory (this is a company town) has a lot of college students working , so the place can actually get sort of lively and entertaining, particularly when they have karaoke... Â has a couple of pool tables.. when it is slow you see a bunch of really depressed looking people here. might make good movie material.... unlikely place to find America's next top model..
Review Source:I would go for 3 stars, but the unexpected free wifi won me over. Â This place is a good, large, dive hangout. Â Several pool tables, a jukebox, darts, and a large TV make it kind of a quintessential small town bar. Â On a Tuesday night, I was a little out of place with my laptop in there, but they were cool about it. Â Drink prices were reasonable.
Review Source:Pros: Drinks are cheap - cocktails range from $4.25 to $6.50 and I think beers are around $3. They also have pool tables and darts. The place is pretty cool and chill. And hey, it's the only bar in town, really .... can't pick and choose.
Cons: They have a jukebox but you have to pay for music! Better hope they're filled w enough ppl to keep the music going.
Also, even on Friday nights they close at midnight. We got kicked out around 11:50 pm, boo (hey I'm from Los Angeles)
