Stepping into the Captain's Cabin is a little like what I imagine it would be like stepping into a time machine and setting it back about 50 years or so. Â It is located right on the shores of Crooked Lake. Â You can boat right up to it and go to dinner. Â Reservations are recommended on the weekend, but not required. Â The greeter seemed a little bit surprised by us arriving without reservations, but after the initial surprise, went inside and rearranged a table for us to be seated. Â The three of us ordered, respectively, the Tilapia, The Shrimp and The Captain's steak. Â All dinners came with a side and a salad. Â The Blue Cheese dressing was excellent. Â The Tilapia was just okay according to the DW. Â The Shrimp were huge, but not enough of them to fill up the 17 year old son--but not much does fill that boy up. Â In fact he had half of my steak, about half of the DW's (dear wife's) Tilapia, rolls and dessert before he had enough energy to pry himself out of the chair and continue with life.
So service was good. Food was good. Â Bathrooms were single holers. Â It was very noisey in the dining room, probably due to the fact that almost every table was imbibing in alcohol.
What, great food in Angola? Â YES!
If I could have shoved more food into my mouth, I would have. Â The special appetizer, Jumbo Shrimp, was so good, I ordered more. Â The cheese that comes free with the bread and crackers as AWESOME! Â I liked the bowl. Â I usually prefer fresh seafood prepared NOT FRIED but the fried stuff my friend ordered was soooo good, I practically stole all her food.
Did I mention the full bar?
I wished that their menu had more options for fish. Â However I ate everything in front of me (or on my friend's plate).
