The ultimate dive bar, which is what we were looking for.  The sign out front says that "Key Largo" was shot here and I was afraid it would be too tacky/touristy but the person who recommended it said it was full of locals/nice people.  Mangy old dog laying on the floor just inside the door welcomed us. Kathy, the bartender, was nice and pleasant, and tired. Said she had been swamped all day.  Drinks were strong and  good and, by Keys standards, cheap. Nothing fancy, just good.  People at the bar knew each other but didn't make us feel like outsiders.  When Kathy filled a box with empty bottles a regular took the box outside for her. That kind of place.  We will go back.......and spend an evening.

The atmosphere consists of staff and locals, open to the ocean and is the essence of The Keys.  My favorite spot.

Full disclaimer: we never actually ordered anything here. Came here after I read in my Fordor's guide that it would be a good bar to watch the sunrise, but didn't quite expect it to be so divey. Didn't get a "friendly" atmosphere and decided to watch the sunset someplace else. It was dark and reeked of cigarettes.

I visited numerous bars during a recent trip to the Florida Keys, and the Caribbean Club was *hands down* the best of the bunch!

The Caribbean Club is apparently something of a historic landmark, having been around since the 1930's and featured in the 1948 film 'Key Largo'.  This was my first time here, and I was impressed by the classic dive bar style, friendly vibe, and reasonably priced drinks.  Plus the place is dog friendly and has it's own waterfront and dock!  Be sure to bring some cash, though-- they don't take plastic here.

It happened to be karaoke night when I was here, and the hostess was the most entertaining, engaging, and interactive I've ever had the privilege of singing badly for.  The bartender was great, too; even got to watch him play peacemaker when some domestic drama was about to come to blows at the bar.

Fun, fun place-- can't wait to come back next time I'm in the Keys!

If you looked up "dive bar" in the dictionary, you might see a photo of this joint. Are you looking for a person who "dropped out" in the 70's and would like to reconnect? I'd start your search here.

Great dive bar - the other reviews are spot on.  Best people watching I had in 4 days.

Nice place to watch the sunset!!!! The bar is run down, but has that home town rundown bar! Drinks are priced just right and has a pool table if you want to play a game after!

Good music at night on the weekends, assuming you are blues or classic rock fan. Dive bar? Sure. Definitely on my list of stops on the weekend anyway. Why? I've seen some of the local musicians in the area and there's a clique of them that rotate around the area. The Caribbean club knows who they are and gets the right local musicians. I'm into that sort of thing so it works for me.

My hometown Dive bar! Music starts after 10pm, well, sometime after 10. Good music, drinks and sunset.  NO credit cards. Luke Somer band and all it's versions rock the place.

I'll admit it.  I use to watch the oldies.  One of my favorite movies before was Key Largo.  To me, Humphrey Bogart was the penultimate of cool.  I liked his swagger and his cold demeanor towards things and people in the characters he played in the silver screen.  If you're a fan of oldies and Bogey, then Caribbean Club is a must for you, no doubt.

It doesn't quite have the same vibe as depicted in the movie, but it does draw on an overwhelming feeling of film history.  The drinks here aren't bad at all.  The margaritas my brother and sister had were quite good.  They give it to you in a plastic cup, a bit tacky, but they do get packed at times, and they can't afford people breaking and losing glassware on the docks or waters.  Totally understandable!  Speaking of docks, this is an incredible place to just chill, watch a few boats and the water, and drink a few at the dock area.  I like the view.  It reminds me a lot of certain isolated parts of Mexico.

Most people here drink beer in a can which is very much the image it has taken up.  It's funny.  The people here are a ragtag bunch from all walks of life, kind of like the movie itself.  It's a cool place to go to.  You never know who you'll talk to or sit across from.  I like mystery.  That draws me in like a tarpon caught on a steel-lined hook.  Catch...release!

Karaoke night on Wednesdays!  Shucks!  I really wanted to make everyone deaf with my Godawful voice.  Who knows, if they're drunk enough I might have even started sounding and looking like Enrique Iglesias to the patrons of the club.

There's nothing you can't get here.  Often described as "the bar in Star Wars" for its characters from all walks of life, you'll always find someone to chat with.  There is no better spot for sunset or Happy Hour.  There's Trivia on Tuesday, Karaoke on Wednesday, Live entertainment Thurs-Sun.  Sunday Night's Jam Session is amazing.  Please don't suck if  you want to get in on this "sorta-open" mic night.

Going down to the Caribbean Club, actually does take you back to old Key Largo, simpler and better times. This is an atmosphere bar, or you know your in a dump, that has outstanding back yard views,

This is a people watcher bar, and your gonna see some strange people, from the hard core, to the hard core Largoite alcoholic, she was fun to watch, I even thought the bartender was gonna pop her in the nose. But, the bartender was a gentleman, and a good bartender, he kept them beers coming and ice cold.

The have there spaghetti specials, and jam night where amateurs show up and play there guitars and sing there songs. I really enjoyed jam night, a lot of talent out there.

There's something special about this place. It's not the food, because they don't serve food. It's not the canned Miller Lite, because it is after all in a can. It's not the fact that they don't accept credit cards, because I almost never have cash. I cannot for the life of me tell you what makes it so special. I love pulling up a stool and chatting with the weather-beaten locals and bikers. It's like a dive bar but even better, if possible. The view is great for sunset and you can rent a kayak next door at Florida Bay Outfitters. A Must-Stop on your way down through the Keys.

This place has serious history. From a cameo in Bogart's Key Largo to a prominent mention in Jimmy Buffet's "A Pirate Looks at 50", this dive bar goes wayyyy back.

Entering this place is like entering Key Largo circa 1960. Not much has changed. Lots of locals getting hammered, bartenders who've been around the block, and stiff drinks. I probably wouldn't order a pina colada here...but a good old vodka sprite went down plenty smooth.

The back is adorable - picnic tables, palm trees and a waterfront dock. A nice view at night or during the day. They also have live music inside.

All in all this is a terrific place to stop on a cocktail tour of the Keys. We saw a massive iguana on the roof here once, apparently it's a regular, according to some of the liquored up locals. Basically, you're in for an experience at this old joint.

Not a bad dive bar. Great view of the water out back and they have a bunch of picnic tables and whatnot out there. Memorabilia inside from the 40s movie "Key Largo" that was briefly filmed here back in the day. They don't take credit cards, but have an ATM inside and drinks are cheap. Liquor drinks are around $5 and domestic beer is like $3.50. Locals hanging out, some biker dudes but also beach bums, fisherman, etc. They also allow dogs inside and there was a poodle, a lab and a basset hound wandering around. On stage, a pretty good band playing southern and classic rock. My friend requested an Eric Clapton tune and they immediately started playing it. The singer looked like one of the guys from ZZ Top (lol). They are open and serving until 4 am, and are supposedly the only bar in Key Largo that stays open that late. I will definitely go back here next trip to this area...

    Harumph.

The big sign outside advertizies this place as the place where Key Largo, the Bogart / Robinson movie of the late 40s was filmed.

I think the only thing it has in common with that 1940s movie hotel is that neither of them take credit cards.

It is now a locals only cash only dive bar - nice view of the bakc and a decent outside, a picture of Bogie ( in the dinner suit her wore in Casablanca I might add) graces the place.

Not a place for movie fans - great place for decent beer and grub fans

Absolutely THE locals joint down here.  I can certainly say I've met some good and interesting people during my short stay in the keys, and most of them were here. Oh the knowledge I've gained....

Free pool on Fridays, trivia night on Tuesdays, free food around dinner time, free dock in the back on the bay side, pleasant staff, and good times.  Huge outdoor area and bar out back as well.

I've never seen either movie that was filmed here, but will make it a point to do so however good/bad they are.

The only place in Key Largo serving until 4am !!
