Carlito's Way Cocktails

Update: This place has changed quite a bit as it's popularity has grown. As stated by other yelpers, most beverages are now served in plastic cups. This is likely due to the new clientele the place has attracted, which tends to be on the rowdy, violent, gangster side. Last time I was there, they were busy cleaning blood off the bathroom ceiling because someone looked at someone else funny.

Fortunately, other than some dirty looks and a few "Órale weto" comments, I was pretty much left alone, and bolted after I inhaled my beer. I've been told that during the week, and during Happy Hour, this place still has a nice relaxed "dive bar" charm, but unless you like a rowdy, violent crowd, this place should be avoided on the weekends.  

On a side note, as some have mentioned, this is a great location for film shoots. Classic dive bar look, and has been featured in many films and TV shows.

Went to Carlito's Way for the first time last night. Found it by doing a random "dive bar" search online and after reading the Yelp reviews, decided it was a good bet.....Arrived around 10:30ish and liked it immediately. Diverse people group with everyone just doing their own thing and minding their own business...great jukebox...bartender was really friendly and made strong drinks. Blueberry Stoli with cranberry juice for six bucks!! Love the atmosphere and the history of the place. It was used in the 1983 film The Twilight Zone for the scene with bigoty Vic Morrow in the opening sequence....it's also reputedly haunted by "Shadow People".....but whether you believe in all of that supernatural stuff or not, this place and The Chimney Sweep in Sherman Oaks are most definitely my two fave dive bars in the Valley....I will be back....and soon....maybe tonight...lol...

Was recommended about this place few years back and it has been one of my stomping grounds ever since. It's like cheers where if you go, they're gonna remember you. Caroline takes no bullshit from anyone but is damn good at what she does. Carlos the owner comes out and knows everyone, very great feeling to get. Makes ya feel welcome. Does get crowded sometimes but eh whatever. Very low key spot to go and chill
