Pizza is my favorite food and it doesn't get any better  than this.  Wood fired using only fresh ingredients.  The wings here, that are also cooked in the oven instead of being fried, are marinated in a mixture of EVOO, lemon juice, and spices finished off and topped with caramelized onions and a side of ficosha bread.  Fall of the bone tender!  Perfect place to bring the family or spouse. I only wish I lived closer so I could enjoy them more often.  Closed Monday & Tuesday.

We came here on the way back to Albany after a visit to Vermont (thanks Yelp for the info) after reading the earlier review about this being a BBQ place. It re-opened as a wood-fired pizza place in Fall of '09, so no BBQ here any more!

Everything on the menu is cooked in the wood-fired oven, including their chicken wings, which were flavored italian-style and swimming in a lemony butter sauce with cooked onions piled on top.  It sounds weird, but the wings were falling off the bone and were very, very yummy.  We also had a meat lovers pizza which was also very good.  They had an excellent selection of bottled  and tap beverages.  The venue was good-sized, clean, and warm on this chilly evening.  The service was excellent.

If it wasn't so far out of our normal way, we'd come back often. The food was so good, we'll probably make a special trip to come back here anyway.

Carmody's West is the sister restaurant to Carmody's in Bennington VT. Carmody's West is located just west of the VT border along NYS Route 7 just before the Bennington Bypass Connector. The difference between these two establishments is Carmody's is an Irish pub which serves American and pub fare and Carmody's West is a BBQ restaurant and bar, which offers BBQ platters (beef brisket, ribs, chicken, pork), sides, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, BBQ salads, and quesadillas. Kids menu is offered and the prices are reasonable. The meats are slowly smoked for up to 12 hours . BBQ sauces include Kansas City (Tangy), Spicy, Mustard, and Bourbon Molasses (Sweet). Pepsi fountain drinks and bottled root beer & cream soda are served here. Several bottled beers are offered (did not see Yuengling since we're technically not in VT).

I stopped here for dinner takeout very recently since I really wanted some BBQ pulled pork for dinner and I was very busy much of the day and I did not get my full share of pulled pork earlier in the day at a company luncheon over 100 miles away.

The place was not very busy on a typical cold weeknight. I was greeted by the very friendly bartender as I walked in.The atmosphere inside feels like a roadhouse bar with the bar area near the entrance, lighted beer signs, several TVs for sports and horse racing (OTB), and several tables adjacent to the bar area. There's also a front dining room. The back walls are painted with colorful and animated pigs.

I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich ($7.95) served with choice of side and cole slaw, and choice of BBQ sauce on the side. The food was up quickly (5 minutes) and I was on my way. Service with a smile. The pulled pork  sandwich was excellent with a generous portion of tender pork (no fat) on a large roll and went very well with the Kansas City BBQ sauce. The shoestring fries were okay, fried golden. The small cup of cole slaw was creamy and pretty decent.

Definitely a good place to stop for BBQ near the VT border.
