Stopped in to Carolina BBQ based upon Yelp reviews and found a little slice of country heaven. My daughter had the BBQ pork sandwhich with Lexington sauce which was excellent and I had the fried chicken. I asked if I could have my chicken cooked fresh and that was no problem for it to be done. It took a little bit longer, but well worth it. Honestly the best fried chicken I've had in a long time....fresh, juicy and cooked to country perfection!
The atmosphere is a little like a fast food joint, but it didn't matter- it was all about the food for me. While there we even had the pleasure of meeting the "Wooley Worm" emcee of 34 years from Banner Elk...nice fella- gave us the lowdown on the Wooley worm contest and how weather is predicted based on this little insect. Unusual to say the least, but charming & interesting all at the same time. I love this place and will be back next time in NC. Do not miss the fried chicken!
Great BBQ joint. Our family of six gets the family pack, gallon of sweet tea, and 1/2 rack of ribs and it's perfect! I can feed my large family (with teenage boys) for less than $40! That's hard to do! It's worth the drive from the slopes. My kids liked their sweet BBQ sauce and my husband and I enjoyed ghe Mad Dog sauce that has a little kick! Yum!
Review Source:Very good chopped BBQ. They have 3 different sauces on the table. Sweet, Mad Dog and Lexington. The sweet was our families favorite. On my last visit, I tried the ribs. Very good. Baked beans were pretty tasty, but I wasn't a fan of their slaw. My daughter said her green beans were really good. We drive from our condo at Sugar Mtn. to dine at Carolina BBQ. It's worth the 13 mile drive.
