    Well.....

The first time I went here for breakfast with my girlfriend, about a year ago now, I could not believe how good it was.  The eggs were perfectly over easy.  The bacon was crispy, as I had asked for.  The potatoes, which need to be really, really crispy, were phenomenal.  I thought I had found the breakfast for which I had been seeking.
Next breakfast trip:  Not quite as good, but still tasty.
Side trip for chicken dinner on Sunday:  Did not tell my girlfriend this, but...what's all the fuss about?  Chicken was ok.  I was expecting golden crunchy chicken!  Not really.  It was good, the mashed potatoes were...ok....
So back to my last -- really my last -- breakfast:  Eggs were ok.  Bacon was cooked about half, though I can't order bacon or potatoes without "well done" coming out of my mouth.  Bacon tasted odd too; maybe that was just me.  Potatoes?  I could have cooked them better with a Bic lighter.  To say they were warm through was generous.
So maybe I just got a cook on a bad day.  Except, the days for the cooks have gotten worse in my four visits in about a year.  Thinking this may be the kind of place where if you're feeling lucky........could be a good day for you.

Met a friend of the hubby for early dinner here.  Our server took our orders quickly and we hit the salad bar.  The regular salad was sad, iceburg lettuce, a few carrots and NO tomatoes.  The rest of the offerings were good; I had cole slaw, beets, macaroni salad and pickled cucumbers.  We all had chicken and dumplings; very good and the fried apples on the side were tasty as well.  Not a hip kind of place, but a good pick for comfort food and good service.

My parents discovered this place when they were first married and living nearby. Although they moved to Centerville when I was born we have been making a point of coming here for Sunday chicken dinners for as long as I can remember,

This place is the definition of comfort food. In fact every time we go my mother tells me that it's "just like her mother used to make." For $7.50 you get all you can eat fried chicken, biscuits, cole slaw, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and homemade strawberry & grape jam and apple butter. It may be the best deal... EVER! In fact, the homemade jam and apple butter is worth the trip alone. If you go on mother's day they usually give mom's a complimentary jar of jam.

Now that I have moved away from home, this place has become my last stop on the way out of town when I'm home for a weekend visit. If you happen to be anywhere nearby to Enon, OH on a Sunday you MUST make a pit-stop at the Carriage Inn.
