We were in Springfield today and needed a place to eat. Â I saw that The Barn had some decent reviews, so we thought we'd try it on our way out of town. Â Upon entering, you could tell it was your "hole-in-the-wall" pizza joint. Â It's on the lower level of a large building; on the left side is the pizza joint and on the right side is a mini mart.
You sink down in to the booth seats; there are TVs all around the eating area with a different sporting event on each one; and laminated menus on the tables (some were just pieces of paper). Â We ordered breadsticks and a medium veggie pizza with all the olives on one side :) Â The breadsticks came out fairly quickly and there were EIGHT (8) of them! Â A meal in-and-of-itself! Â They were good, not spectacular. Â They had something like a garlic crumble on top and they came with one of three types of dipping sauces (butter, cheese, or pizza sauce). Â The pizza was ready shortly after and it came out on foil and looked like a thin crust pizza. Â When bitting into the pizza I quickly realized it wasn't really thin crust pizza, but soft and chewy. Â Both myself and my friend felt like it wasn't homemade pizza dough. Â The pizza was good, but, again, nothing special.
Coming from larger cities, I didn't feel like The Barn pizza was anything special and I could take it or leave it. Â Next time I'm in Springfield, I'll try a new place. Pics to come soon...
