Not sure why they had to change the name of this wonderful eatery in East Chula Vista, in Rolling Hills. I guess it dosen't matter what the name is, because I go for the great food anyways. This is a delicious Italian Restaurant with ambiance as nice as an elegant restaurant downtown. The servers are knowledgable and are always on top of the specials of the day! Only bummer is the portions are not always the biggest, but I fill up every time I am there!

FIRST OF ALL: Let me start with this Casa Bella is by far hands down one of the best restauraunts in San Diego not only do they have Norma and Hugo who are an amazing example of what all restauraut owners should be like but they do everything in their power to make sure their customers are fully satisfied and have the best dinning expierence possible..They also have outstanding well trained, dedicated service staff that are extremely helpful and attentive to all their customers. This Restauraunt displays charm, class, and great quality. I love the morale of this place and when you walk in they make you feel like family. They go above and beyond when it comes to Customer Service and always are accomidating. Andres the manager is  always friendly and does a wonderful job organizing all the events and is very personable to everyone.  Not to mention they have live music during the week and host a karoke night with an awesome Dj. So please tell me  where else can you find a top notch restauraunt that provides so much for their customers and genuinely care about people when they walk in? Good luck on finding that. For the people that had some negative reviews before me Give Casa Bella another chance every dinning place has their flaws but I assure you that their staff will do their very best to make your next expierence a more pleasant one:)

My baby shower was held here and guests had nothing but praise for the food and the restaurant itself. The event coordinator and manager were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process and were quick to respond via email.  We were able to have the private enclosed patio for our party of 30, and we selected food from a buffet menu (although they have many other options). Although our offerings were limited since we had to choose from a menu, everything was delicious. We even had our own wait staff to accommodate anything we needed. The space itself was beautiful and spacious, and I loved how we were tucked away from the main restaurant, so we had our own little private space.

I am definitely a fan, and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others for private events.

We made reservations for Mother's Day. Decent price at $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Plus unlimited champagne!  I was excited for my wife.

    Then, deep breath...
Bagels, no cream cheese, or any other bagel fixings. Omelette station, with no ham and bucket of eggs was in a bowl without any ice.  Dessert tray included chocolate strawberries (good), but then COSTCO bite sized snacks. The lemon treats and mini cinnamon rolls...COSTCO!!  The cheese tray was also from Costco !!!

Finally, even though the champagne was free ,mimosa and oj for kids was additional $$$ which I felt was inappropriate. Btw, there was also a bus boy in the restroom with me who pissed in the shitter, then walked out...NO HAND WASH.  They said he was changing. I said, unless he was pouring a pitcher of water in the toilet, he wasn't just changing.

It was our second time there, an certainly, our last.

I have worked in the service industry for 18 yrs...I was very very disappointed with pretty much everything!

We just went there for Mother's Day lunch. We had a 2:30 reservation for 5 add high chair. When we arrived we had to wait, then they sat us in a both right next to the entry way for the bathrooms, which the high chair blocked. I said this was not going to work. They apologized & said we could wait for this other table to leave & have that table. We did! Thought things were getting better. Oh was I wrong. The service was horrible. Had to ask twice for bread, then once our food came out, one of the meals was raw...it took them 30 min to bring him a new dish. So now everyone else was finished eating when he finally received his meal. At $20+ for what my husband & I ordered I was highly disappointed. They had burnt the mushrooms & spinach so the entire meal tasted burnt. The veal Marsala was tough & over cooked. To top it all off they were playing Mexican music in an Italian restaurant! I will never go there again. I could understand some mistakes considering it was Mother's Day & you would think it was busy, however we went there at 2:30 it was not busy! I could not imagine how much worse it would of been if it was...

Oh and as I writing this my son is in the restroom having a bad stomach ache. He had the clams & mussels...

I hadn't eaten here in almost five years, but when I had lunch there today, I wondered why I hadn't been back since.  I like the food.  The staff and servers are very friendly.  I was here today with a party of "61" and the servers were swift and attentive.  They gave our party a huge discount.  It was a pleasant experience.   It's a small restaurant, but there is a small bar and a patio when the weather is warm, which is usually the case here.

This place has an identity  crisis. First off, it's an ITALIAN  restaurant. It was when it was Villa Capri, and it is supposed to be now?.Tequila and Margarita happy hours? Why have live Latin Music and a DJ busting out Old School. When I want that atmosphere, I go to a Mexican restaurant like Karina's, Alejandro's, La Finca where ambiance and atmosphere FIT with the food and style, and it's fun!  My wife and I were dissapointed in the food, but the service was good.  Thank goodness for Via Lago where the atmosphere fits the cuisine.

My husband and I have recently made Casa Bella on Thursday nights our official date night and we hope we can convince you with this review why you should too!  It's a work night? You have kids?  We can relate!  But I promise you - you won't regret it! We actually get home from work at 5pm and by 8pm the kids are tucked in and we're ready for a fabulous night of food and music!!

Lets start with the new chefs that have recently come on board - the variety and weekly specials they keep dreaming up keeps us coming back.  The week of St.Patricks - we ate there 4 times alone for their Reuben Special and that's when we discovered they had amazing Truffle Fries ( we had no idea were part of their regular menu)!  It's an Italian restaurant for sure with everything you would expect (my husband loves their lasagna)  but there's a bit of San Diego fusion sneaking in.  I had their Fish Tacos last week (just added) and I thought I was going to heaven!  Wow!  Loved them!  Their fresh Pear salad is also a current favorite of mine but before that I was living on their spinach salads!  And their weekly soup specials makes my mouth water - the week they had organic Butternut Squash - I treated my whole office to lunch there just so they could all try it.  We actually cried when they changed their soup the following week.....thank goodness though, the tomato bisque was equally beautiful in taste!

The staff - hands down - a 1000 times above any other restaurant in Eastlake/Chula Vista.  I'm rarely there when I don't see practically everyone hugged and kissed and welcomed back when they step through the front door.  Andres may appear "low-key" but manages the restaurant to perfection.  Ask for him if you ever need anything - he is there to make sure that you have the very best!

And I don't want to use the words "skip the main dining room" but we only eat in the bar or on the patio!  Jenny (their bartender) is constantly dreaming up amazing cocktails.  She overheard me say one night how much I love Chai Tea and the next thing you know, I had a Chai Tea Martini served at my table - too yummy for words!  This week I'm hooked on a special St.Germaine cocktail - created by Andres and Jenny - when I mentioned I had just tried the liqueur in Vegas.    Ask for the "Michelle Cocktail" - they'll know what to make you!  If my husband were giving this review - he would tell you they have some of the best tasting Tequilas in all of San Diego.

And last but not least - the music!  Which I know for sure happens Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays.  Live.  Talented!  Fun!  Not too loud - still can enjoy a good conversation!  Just the perfect touch!  Thursday nights its a DJ named JDean.  He keeps everyone singing, dancing, and laughing.....too much fun!  It's why we keep coming back - we love every song JDean plays!

Forget any negative review you may read down below.  People are "haters" and live to give bad reviews.  Join us this Thursday night and Friday night -  8pm - ask the wait staff who Michelle is, if you come just because of this review - I'll gladly buy you a drink!  You won't regret it.  Even if you are  giving it one more try - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!!!  Soon enough, you'll be hopefully loving this Eastlake secret as much as we do!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight for a much overdue date night. We came on a Monday evening, with 2 other parties at the restaurant, which was our preference because that would mean more attention from our waiter.

We started off with the Beef Carpaccio and Mozarella Caprese. Both were okay. Anytime I can have carpaccio, I will order it. I wasn't wowed and I've  had better, but it was good. The Caprese needed a different balsamic vinegar. The one it came with was very bland. The mozarella and tomatoes already are bland enough.

For our main course, I had the Salmon and my husband had the manicotti. The salmon was cooked good and was on top of a creamy sauce with red peppercorns. The sauce was very strange...the best way I can describe is as milky. It wasn't runny or anything, just flavorless  and tasted too much like warm milk. The peppercorns were just weird on the dish and i ended up pushing them aside. It also came with veggies (carrots and zucchini) and mashed potatoes which were good and had a good flavor, however, they were so gummy, I couldn't finish them. My husband said the manicotti was okay.

We finished our dinner with a Creme Brûlée. Also a very typical dish that will probably be the same at every restaurant that serves it.

    Good service
    Great atmosphere
    Okay food

The one and only reason I am not giving 4 stars is because the cost. Seems a bit pricey for the quality of food we got. It wasn't lick the plate good and I've had better meals at other restaurants for much less. I won't be coming back for that reason which is unfortunate because I try my best to support local vendors.

Had dinner here on Tuesday Mar 19, 2013 with my wife and son.  This was my first visit since the name change. I had been underwhelmed when it was VIlla Capri. I still am.
My son had spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce and noodles were good but that could not be said about the stringy gooey meatballs. They were horrible. My wife asked for a little piece of the meatball and she was horrified that our son gave her a slimey piece that he had chewed and spit out. He swore he did not do such a thing. It was the way it was prepared and served. We dissected it and it was truely disgusting.
My wife had the soup,  pasta fagiole and some pepperoni pizza. Both were good. No complaints here.
I had the eggplant parmesan. Very tasty. I also shared the pepperoni pizza.
Now the service... It appears the kitchen has trouble coordinating the timing of the various dishes. The soup and spaghetti were brought out first. Almost 20 minutes before the pizza and my eggplant. This is the same problem I've had on previous visits as Villa Capri. We would have much of the party done with their meals long before some of the meals come out. There is nothing worse than having your family done before you have even gotten your meal. Do they wait and let their food get cold? Should they send it back and let an angry cook take his frustrations out on it? This is something simple that just should not happen. A competently run restaurant should get this. They should not have to be told by the diner to coordinate the timing of the dishes which have different cooking times...

My boyfriend and I chose Casa Bella for our dinner date on Valentine's Day. It was quite romantic and J Dean Live who provided the music was awesome. He played some of my favorite old school jams! Michael our server was really nice and friendly, however, the waiter serving water really slacked big time. He would walk by our table numerous times and I would even catch him glancing over at my empty glass of water. I waited all night to get a refill but it never happened so I ended up drinking my boyfriend's water.

The food was delicious until we got to dessert. For our entree I got the rack of lamb and my boyfriend had the steak and lobster, both were delicious! Michael informed us that they had ran out of the Tiramisu so ours came out as a last minute batch. I have to be honest, it wasn't great... at all! It was like eating soggy bread soaked in water. Michael said it takes about 8 hours for the ladyfingers in the Tiramisu to really soak up the flavor but knowing we had the last minute made batch of it really threw me off. If you can't serve a dessert the way it's meant to be made, don't serve it. I would have been a lot happier with an alternative dessert.

Other than that, the place is really charming. A bit pricey especially for its awkward location, but still a nice place to go for a special occasion.

This is the first time I've been back to the restaurant since they've changed ownership. They use to be called Villa Capri. I first want to say the review by Danny S. is nothing-but pure douche-baggery of the highest order.

While nothing is perfect, and although I've been to Italy many times myself, what I can say immediately, is that I ENJOYED the overall dining experience and thought the food quality was very good. I'm at least 89 points on this place.

Say what you want; but no other place on earth can replicate an Italian dining experience. If you want that experience, buy some round-trip tickets and get ur buns over there. You'll never forget it and when you come back, you'll know what I mean.

It provides a refreshing difference in the community that really have very few places of substance on this side of the 805, an oasis in a sea of sameness.

BYOB: Their corkage is reasonable at $15. That said, I found it necessary to BYOS [bring your own stems]. I understand some restaurants just don't want to spend the extra coin for the nicer stemware. So yes I'm a real cork-dork and I bring my own glasses.

The Customer Service: is excellent, even when we asked to have the door opened because it was sweltering inside, they left the front door open. Our waiter was excellent, and was conscience of reminding us about wine specials they offer Mon-Wed.

The Food: It was tasty, inviting, and warm and served quickly after we ordered it. The only hiccup is that I would have liked my lamb-chop to have been a bit rarer. I would order it again, w/o hesitation. The serving size was generous.

Wine Service: This is the one thing that really needs some polish. I've been through the International Sommelier Certification Course, so I have a better idea of what it's suppose to look like. If a customer brings a bottle, you still go through the motions of asking if they'd like the bottle decanted. If no, after the bottle is open, you still pour a small amount into the glass of the person who brought the bottle. If they nod, that the wine is excellent, then you pour it into all the guests glasses, starting with the ladies first.

Wine List: The could really use some help in this department, as most of the wines offered is domestic juice, most of the wines offered on the list are not as food friendly as Italian wines. But a sound reco, from the list is the somewhat reasonably priced Banfi Chianti Reserva. [Don't doubt me]

Key Point: Please don't pour so much in the customers glass; so much so they don't have the needed space to aerate the wine in their glass w/o spilling. Second, don't keep pouring the wine into the customers glass as attempt to have them finish the bottle quickly. Wine should not be hurried and neither should your dining experience.

Bottom Line: Would I go back, not only yes, but hell yes!

Just stopped into this place on a Saturday night.  There were only about 6 or 8 people in restaurant.  The service was good and attentive.  The food, however, was really below standard.  I ordered Shrimp fra Diavolo which had no spice whatsoever, and must have been sauce from a jar.  I suspect that the shrimp had been precooked and reheated as the texture was closer to a chicken breast than shrimp.  This restaurant could be good, but they don't cook to impress.

Under unfortunate circumstances we were trying to find a place to accomodate a large party for a reception after my Father-In-Law's funeral =(  We did not have much time to plan.  This restaurant is located in an unassuming shopping center in Rolling Hills Ranch.  I've seen it so many times but had never eaten there, so I was pretty nervous about booking our reception there.  We were pleasantly surprised.  Nice decor and ambiance.  In addition to the dining area, they have covered patio seating for large parties, and a private dining room.   We were taken by surprise because we ended up having way more people attend than expected, so we pretty much took up the whole restaurant.  The staff took it all in stride.  Much thanks to Laura, Andres, Michael, and the entire staff who made sure everything was taken care of.  From the ease in booking the party, choosing the menu for the buffet, and just accomodating the last minute increase in guests, they were professional, courteous, and kind.  We ended up having to order more food because our guests enjoyed it so much.  We were able to bring in our own desserts which also was a plus.  I love supporting small businesses, so I would ldefinitely come here again.

We just moved into a condo right next to the plaza that Villa Capri is in and all i can say is we are happy we found one of our most favorite restaurants to date. We absolutely love this place, the servers are always very professional in their service and very attentive to all your needs. They have a covered patio and a live band that plays every weekend which adds a nice touch. The food here is outstanding, their menu offers something for everyone and i haven't tried a dish yet that i haven't liked. This is an excellent place to dine and i highly recommend Villa Capri to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience.

Jen R. couldn't have stated it any better...

Jennifer, the bartender, is absolutely amazing. She remembers every guest and makes great drinks... She's pretty much awesome. Especially for our area, it's tough to find a nice bartender that actually gives a sh**

Usually we expected this kind of bar service a dive bar... the lady and I pretty much only go here for Jennifer.

Now on to the food... Absolutely stunning! I have no been disappointed from the 5-6 times we've eaten here. The last meal I had was the braised rack of lamb with fig and Gorgonzola cream sauce.. OMFG! so freaking good

Bread and balsamic dip is awesome.. service is awesome... and the food is awesome... I definitely cannot complain.

I have not tried the other Italian joint nearby, which I believe is owned by the Bussalachis... but there's no need to experiment. I've found my Italian fix for Eastlake.

I have stopped in on numerous occasions to Villa Capri. Each time I was impressed not only with the service but also the food and wine selection.

Jennifer the bartender is amazing. She remembers every guest and makes THE best drinks in this part of town. Happy hour daily 4 - 7 PM Thursday is happy hour all day. Live music is on Friday and Saturday nights.

It is such a breath of fresh air to have a nice place for not only happy hour but also for a nice meal in this part of Chula Vista. Take out is also availible. The menu offer's take out family dinning and for a lasanga that serves 4-6 it's for only $14.00!

I saw a few reviews mention that the service was slow. This is true that the server is not always nearby but Villa Capri specializes in 'Italian Dinning'. This invitation is intended for you to come in a enjoy your meal and the company that you are dinning with. The meal is never rushed. I have found that my meal has always been great. Whether it be for a special occassions or just a quick happy hour.

I have been here 2 times; once on a date with my wife and once when we had a friend in town visiting.

    Reasons to go:
    1)  Good Italian feel; decor, menu selection, music, overall atmosphere
    2)  Pretty good wait staff
    3)  Convenient without the hassle of valet fees or stupid far parking

    Reasons to avoid:
    1) This maybe a reason that belongs in the above column for you:  It is real Italian cuisine.  I do not consider myself a food snob but it is simply not Americanized enough for me
    2) Pricey enough to be considered a special occasion place without the appeal of wanting to go there for a special occasion.  I felt under-dressed both times compared to staff dress and general atmosphere.  The other patrons were dressed SoCal casual as well, though.
*Regardless of the last 2 reasons and the 3-stars, I had a pretty descent experience both times but it simply doesn't meet my personal criteria for 4-star

I've come here several times with my family and the food is very good!! We used to live in Italy and we often crave good pasta (and no, olive garden and bucca di beppo don't count as real Italian).

My favorites here are the portobello appetizer, the frutta de mare pasta, the mushroom ravioli, the lobster ravioli, and the risotto.

The pizza is just okay and happy hour food was eh.

Cute little place. Service is pretty good. My only complaint is that they didn't take our yelp check in 10% discount!

Another thing to know is that they have a rewards card where you can accumulate points for everything you order. For every 100 points you get $15 off your next bill.

Overall, nice place and my family's go to restaurant for some good pasta!

This place is fantastic. It sits in a very unassuming strip mall, across from the Albertsons, but once you get inside the ambiance puts you at ease.

I started with the Bruschetta Toscana and had the Tutto Mare for my entre. Amazing!

All of the staff were friendly and very very nice.

    We will be back!

Just like the other reviewer, my wife and I went here for our date night and was really happy with the food and the service.  First off our servers were great; completely attentive but not to the point where you want to shoo them away so that you can finish eating.

I had the rib eye (a special I believe) which was honestly one of the best steaks I've had.  Cooked medium rare, it came with a great horseradish sauce, potatoes and veggies.  My wife had the lobster ravioli and it was just as good.  We couldn't complain about the price (it is a bit pricey) because we felt that the quality of food was better than the price we paid.

I'm guessing this place must do alright for smaller parties as some of the reviews are favorable.  As I've stated in my other reviews, I may be the most tolerable patron out there.  However, I am compelled to let others know that this place had the worst service for my large party of 16 there to celebrate my daughter's birthday.

The waiter (Enrique?) was simply overwhelmed and not able to provide adequate service.  Perhaps he was new...but his affected fake Italian accent he's been practicing tells me otherwise (okay, that was mean...he was a nice enough guy but we did find the rehearsed accent humorous).

Here's what we didn't find humorous:  not confirming we wanted more wine, uncorking several bottles, and pouring into our glasses as if they were bottomless.  Sure, i like to get sauced but we were there celebrating an 8 year old's birthday; it wasn't our intention to keep knocking glasses back.  And isn't it customary for the waiter to first ask us if we'd like another bottle before uncorking?  Sure, I wasn't refusing the glasses he poured, but after awhile we were thinking, "wow, this bottle sure lasted a long time!" Only after the 3rd bottle did we notice that he's been opening new ones without our approval.  The last bottle we had to forcibly drink as we really didn't care for more wine.  I thought this was a sneaky trick that made our bill much higher than anticipated.  When I questioned Enrique about the multiple bottles he simply acted dumbfounded and unapologetic.

Also, my wife received her plate about 20 minutes after the rest of us (I was practically done) and we had to remind him to bring out one of the child plates.  Also, we had to correct him on the bill for charging for a plate that never came out (which we were fine with as we ordered too much food).  When I brought this to Enrique's attention he again was unapologetic.

On a bright note, I can't really complain about the food.  Everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered.  Too bad the experience was ruined by the inconsistent service and sneaky wine trickery.

Man food here is garbage. I honestly would've had a better meal for less than half the price at my local frozen food section (Stouffer's in particular).

I'm sorry if I don't agree with most of your reviews. Last time I tried this place was about 2-3 years ago. I don't know if they improved or not but from what I remember this place was so gross. In my honest opinion the grossest Italian eatery I've tried in all of San Diego. Also, the service was really bad too. It wasn't even busy and our waiter wouldn't even check up on us.

I wish Carvel was there instead of this place... Sigh*

I was invited to this place today, and it was actually better than I thought it would be. I was with a large party that was seated what it may be a private room, which was pretty nice. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful. Prices were not that bad either, you could easily eat here with $20.
For appetizers, I had the opportunity to try their fried calamari. Not what I would call delicious, but not bad either.
For my entree, I ordered the large lasagna which is $25 and more than enough for 3 people, and a 4 cheese pizza. Obviously I was sharing that with the rest of my party. I've had better lasagnas, but this one was not bad at all. The pizza was pretty good, specially the crust.
For dessert I had the cannoli and a cappuccino. Both were really good.
Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience for me and it is very likely that I will come back.

While on a business outing with coworkers, we took a wrong exit, noticed Villa Capri, and decided to try it.  I'm glad we did!

We were the only people there for lunch. First impression: beautiful restaurant!  The guy who helped us was really friendly and knowledgeable.  We order appetizers then lunch stuff (salads & panini's).  We were all very impressed and the food was delicious.

Found a cool Happy Hour in Eastlake, and it's ALL DAY!  $3 domestics, $4 imports, and $5 well drinks.  Bar food ain't the greatest though.  Queso fundido got tough after the cheese melted and the chorizo was extra extra greasy.  The fries tasted like Jack in the Box curly fries with garlic butter, not too impressive.  Whatever though, we came for the drinks.  Decor and ambiance were beautiful, very well layed out and the bartenders were cool to talk to.  They only had two TVs in the bar area but were large enough to catch Sportscenter.

I'll be back to try out the full menu and update ya'll

1st time trying some new dishes and without a doubt the tuto mare is loaded with seafood and has a perfect balance of heat with italian spices. No need to go to Little Italy to get good Italian.  Also tried their swordfish special.  I normally am leary of swordfish as it can be overcooked and dry.  This piece melted like butter and the green peppercorn sauce was subtle and complemented the fish perfectly.

Appetizer of clams and mussels also has a nice heat in a tomato sauce. When the seafood is finished you can lap up the sauce like the finest tomato soup you ever tasted.  They have recently changed owners and I believe chefs.  Nothing has been compromised.  So why are they not getting a 5th star from me?  Well, the ambience is so Italian perfect that I think the background music  should be italian, versus pop rock radio.

This place has a great atmosphere...I really like all the stone and warm lighting.  The outside patio is roomy and comfortable with the awning and heaters.  The bar is small but nice with a wide array of quality cocktails but the beer selection is a bit thin.  Service is always consistent and friendly.  The food is quality and enjoyable with a number of dishes available family style which makes this place great for small groups.  The price is just a tad high but they do run several coupon specials that may be able to help with that...

The happy hour is very solid, running to 7pm most nights and offers a nice $3 list of appetizers and good discounts on beer, wine, and a few key cocktails.  They offer live music on the patio from time to time on the weekends so bring a couple of friends and relax.

Trying to justify not giving a 4, it's a nice place with good food but for the price, my socks were not all blowed up.  Sucks when your italian brother-in-law owned an italian restaurant to compare.   But at least I have Villa Capri to bring visitors if that tells you anything.

Place has a good vibe. Small bar area gets lively. Nice protected patio that they have live music on weekends. Thursday too??  Great Latin style and jazz.

Had my dog one afternoon. She liked the cool patio floor!  I don't suggest bringing pets though.

Used to live in Eastlake, and visited Villa Capri whenever my craving for Italian struck!  A little pricey, but the atmosphere and (sometimes) the service was worth the extra $$$.  There were a few times the dishes weren't so great, but everyone has days when they aren't on their A game.  When in doubt, I reccomend the Spaghetti a la Carbonera!!

Conveniently, there's a Villa Capri close to the house my family and I just moved to!  Imagine that...haven't had the pleasure of stepping inside and comparing the two locations yet.  All-in-all, I'd give them a 4.5 if only because my man and I have spent several special occasions there.

Okay. So my boyfriend and I came here one night hoping to satisfy our Italian craving. That so did not happen! Wasted time and 30+ dollars! -_-

    1. Bad service.
    2. Bad food.

The food here is something you can make yourself at home. Seriously.  The way they make their food here makes tv dinners look more appetizing.

When are they going to close down anyway? Better them than the Carvel that used to be there :/

I was ready to give this little place 3 stars (as it was a cozy place for conversation) until the host started VACUUMING (full-out Orek style) a foot away from our table. Our conversation was drowned out by VRRRRR VRRR and I sat in shock/horror and stopped eating. To make sure I wasn't just being my usual drama queen self, I looked over at my always laid-back SO and he was actually equally taken aback and said 'this is rude!' Dining room vacuuming went on for about five minutes and we ended up packing up the food and leaving.

The food is decent but is expensive considering the mediocre service (waitress could not pronounce half the menu items and took down the wrong order)/ambiance. We ordered the mushroom ravioli with meat sauce for two, and the scallops special with lobster risotto. Would recommend the ravioli, but it only comes in one size - for two ($20).

    Pros:
-- good italian food. When you eat there, you must try the Portabello ravioli. I had that three times.
    -- friendly staff.
-- great value on their lunch specials (can get 3 course meal for 11-14 bucks). -- actually don't recall if those exist on dinner menu though.

    Cons:
    -- not much.

The best part of my meal here was the iced tea.

Went to Villa Capri in the San Miguel Ranch Shopping Center with 3 friends over the weekend. The interior is decorated beautifully and and the staff greeting was friendly and nice. (Hence the 2 stars)

I strongly disliked the food, though! We ordered a shrimp appetizer for our party of four. It came with 3 jumbo shrimp. The waitress could have at least warned us about this...

For my entree, I split a family-sized lasagna order with another person in my party. It was very bland, and seemed... overcooked. For lasagna bolognese, it wasn't exactly "brimming" with meat, either. They also didn't provide a serving implement for this family-sized plate.

For dessert, we ordered a chocolate mousse and a "creme brulee." The mousse was just o.k. but the "brulee" tasted as though it was made from a pudding mix.

Perhaps these things could be excused if Villa Capri was a mom 'n' pop shop with gingham table cloths and wicker-covered chianti bottles. But it attemps to be fancy and is a bit pricey. Our party of four ended paying about $30-35 each. I expect a lot more for that amount of money. I probably will not go back here.
