I've been to Casa several times, on this visit I just stopped in for a drink. The bar is a three-sided, wrap around affair that was already busy when I walked in at 5pm on a Wednesday. The dining room was already on a wait at that point in the evening. I ordered a Manhattan, it came on the rocks, I probably would have had it up if the bartender had asked, but it was fine.
They have a special menu for the bar, it looked to be on the expensive side. Casa has great food, but it is not cheap.
There is a stage and a mirror ball and a small PA, it would be a fun place to see a band. I hear my beloved Phantods have played Casa.
It seems as friendly and tasty and as expensive as I remember it. Definitely worth a look if you're in Athens for more than a day.
I am not from Athens and I don't go to Ohio University, but when I do visit, Casa is one of the places I usually visit. They have a great stage and a great selection of beer. I don't know what else I could ask for in a bar. The bar itself is "U" shaped so there is a lot of space to sit at the bar. I haven't tried the food there (if they serve food?) but there are plenty of places nearby that serve food until early in the morning, so you can't get too upset.
This is a staple of my visits to Athens.
The only bar I went to while visiting Athens, Ohio, school where my BF went for undergrad. Â Spacious bar, "mexican" menu. Â Dark atmosphere, but neatly decored. Â Great drink specials, as I had the mixed berry vodka smoothie, and the BF tried the pomegranite mojito. Â Cheap--both fancy drinks were only $9.
