Went with fam to celebrate a few birthdays. It was a really big place but the tables were set up like a cafeteria. Â However, the food was amazing and the Cadillac margaritas were wonderful! They also have a chip maker that's fun to watch. Unfortunately we missed the mariachi band (starts at 8pm) but we'll be back again to hear them!
Review Source:Horribly operated. I've  went to the old location on Glenoaks one time before and we had a good time so for my wife's birthday we decided to go back and try the new location. We made reservations for a party of 12 at 6pm on a Sunday . We showed up ten minutes early and went to check in with the hostess who was flirting around with the waiters the whole time we were there and not greeting people or doing any basic hostess functions, she notified us that are table was being set up and it should take 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we asked her what's going on with our table as we became restless and she acted like she never seen us before and said they're waiting for people to leave. This upsetted me an I asked to why there were several tables available and we were the only party waiting outside. She said they're "reserved" and I asked what about our reservation? She basically said what about em. Infuriated I asked to speak to the manager who was a utterly useless short mumbling  idiot who said we are "busy". There was nobody waiting outside besides us and you have several empty tables and your"busy".! I told him what's the point of making reservations and thanks for ruining my wife's bday. The place looks nice from outside but its garbage on the inside and operated like a JOKE. Never ever again.
Review Source:The outside looks great, but they filled the restaurant area what looked like the old furniture from the old restaurant.  What  a waste of a new building, you'll see.  I looked at the bar and it looked nice with a lot of TV's. Â
I took my family there for dinner, we were all excited how nice the place looked from the outside. Â We went in and was greeted with blaring music in the restaurant. Â They had a guy playing an organ and singing predominantly mexican music. Â Don't get me wrong, the guy was decent, it just didn't match the classiness of the new building. The volume just dominated the ambiance of the room. Â My family and I found it difficult to communicate with each other and with the waiter. Â I don't know if they have music every night.
I thought the food was better than average but had a very big problem with my order. Â I ordered the whole fish and wanted it charbroiled (La Parilla). It came deep fried! wtf!! Â I called the waiter and he assured me it was charbroiled. Â I called the hostess and manager and they looked at it and said it was deep fried, the waiter interjected and said it was charbroiled. Â The manager and hostess turned around and left! Â And for the rest of my time there would not get near my table nor have eye contact. Â
The waiter asked if I wanted a grilled fish fillet instead and insisted that the dish I got was charbroiled. Â I know the difference and I didn't want to debate with him. Â He replaced my original order within 10 minutes and it was good. Â They gave me the original rice and beans from the original plate and it was soaked with the grease from the "charbroiled" fish. Â The waiter was never rude, just stubborn. Â
I will not be returning to this restaurant. Â I will return to the plaza and try the sushi restaurant that hasn't opened yet.
I am a huge fan and have been since day one. The Homemade tortillas are delicious. We've ordered the shrimp cocktail andits huge with plenty of shrimp, it's almost a meal. The zarzuella de mariscos is delicious with lots of seafood and we always love their verion of surf and turf which is a filet and shrimp it's a "10". Â Great ambience, can get loud when the mariachi's play but a great spot for authentic mexican food.
Review Source:The entire city of Sylmar is abuzz with the grand reopening of the Casa Torres restaurant now at its new location.
I will begin with they did right and what was a little disappointing.
What they did right: The Decor, gives a sense of space compare to the last location.
The seating was prompt given that i was in a party of  two. The service was polite and as fast as i could be given that the place was super packed during reopening week.
The most important thing they got right was the food, in my last review of the old location I felt that the menu was a little bland with exception of the Garlic chicken plate which is beautifully season and full of flavor.
This time around I ordered the Veracruz style chicken which was so full of flavor it was amazing (Please note that it full of chiles and hot peppers). All was forgiven. The portions were big, as most the plates are around the $12 dollar price range.
What was alittle disappointing was the parking situation, it can be frustrating as well as the turn out of there. Secondly was the Strawberry Margarita, it really felt like they poured no alcohol into it, and instead was a smoothie. While eating there was a sense of chaos with regards to seating with people who came for food vs those who came to the bar section which is a separate contained area which was dark packed and full of flat screens. P.S we were told no more happy hour because the city won't let them (that was really suspect).
Overall this place has a new vitality in the neighborhood and since I never go to the Bar here, and only eat my experience was great. The prices might be a little high for the casual lunch, but the food was great and I left satisfied.
I love THIS Place. The food was amazing, staff is so nice. I took my parents with me to go eat here. By far they where so nice and very helpful. I have been coming here for years. They have the best MExican Food. Best part is trhe Cantaritos. Reminds me of my hometown. Â Love the Mariachi and the Bar is really cool with all the T.V. I will be going again this weekend.
