I see Pat Benatar is on tour again this year. The last time I Â bought tickets and the lady on the phone said: It is a cute small place and ALL THE SEATS ARE GOOD! She Lied to me. I paid 18.00 each $36.00 for 2. My wife & I were seated in the Nose-Bleed Upper Deck. The Stupid Sound Tec's of The Cascade Theatre HAD NO SPEAKER/SOUND SYSTEM IN THE WHOLE UPPER DECK AREA!
My wife was Upset because the gals behind us & next to us were singing to the songs louder than Pat Benatar! Â We Could not even hear her! This experience Sucked!
I swear I will never buy another Concert Ticket for that CLIP/Rip Off  Raunchy Joint!
We needed  a pair of Binoculars just to see her face! We just saw small little body's & could hardly make out their heads.
I also Will NEVER recommend this place to any of my friends for a Concert, They can Slip it and go to a fair outside is better. I rate this place as BAD! BEWARE! You can spend $50 to $75.00 Each for seats on the floor area but the Old Crappy place still is not worth spending your hard earned Money.
Some of the ignorant people posts about the sound bouncing off the walls & ceiling but they are full of crap. I think they are hyping up the place to blow their own horn. The band had Amps & PA System facing straight ahead toward the floor seated area with NOTHING MOUNTED or Angled up toward the Lodge Upper Deck area where the sound was almost nothing. No Monitors were mounted in the high area. I know about sound systems because I have worked with friends who designed Amplifier's for Fender, Randall & Rickenbacker. No Lie.
It might not look like much from the outside, but the interior is simply gorgeous! We came here to attend a classical piano concert and were not only treated to the wonderful performances, but also to the tasteful elegance of the theater itself! I spent the whole night admiring the colorful yet subdued color scheme and design inside, the ornate chandeliers, and, most of all, the mural on the ceiling. As other reviewers mentioned, the acoustics are also great! If you're in the area, you must catch a show here at least once to experience this theater's breathtaking beauty.
Review Source:Definitely the best music venue I've been to in California. Â Not only does it have concerts, but it also has events and live performances. Â For example, I had my high school graduation here.
It is quite a large theater, but the acoustics (usually) echo off the walls and ceilings, so it's OK if you are stuck with a back row seat as far as that goes. Â It is intricately and beautifully decorated inside the theater, so much that it seems almost worth it just to see it.
I love the Cascade Theater! Â What a beautiful renovation! Â We were able to catch the comedian, Brian Regan, at the Cascade last Thursday. Â It is so nice to enjoy a show surrounded by so much beauty. Â I would have to agree with Buzz F. that the sound is a little muddy. Â They had to stop the show to do a sound check and even after that it was still a tad muffled. Â Also another thing, I was roasting it got so hot in there. Â This has been my third show at the Cascade and I hope to go to several more in the years to come.
P.S. Â The bartender made a good gin and tonic. Â For $6 it was a very good pour.
My daddy used to take me to movies here when I was little. Â This is where I saw Superman, and we ate Red Vines and Nonpareils. Â Nothing but good memories. :)
When I heard they were renovating it years back I was a little sad, but when we went to see Joan Osborne here a few days ago I was so pleased to see the restoration that had taken place. Â The space is beautiful and welcome addition to the increasingly vibrant downtown area. Â They have done such a lovely job turning the space into a little cultural mecca and bringing new acts and events to Redding with these changes.
I have great memories of the Cascade from my younger years, and now I'm excited to make new memories in such a beautiful revitalized space.
Yes, the art deco exterior and interior of the Cascade Theater is a spectacular renovation of a pre-WW II venue. Â It's definitely worth a visit just to take in the space. Â Â
Nevertheless, my last experience at the Cascade was a bummer. Â We'd gone to see Taj Mahal, and the sound was muddy -- we couldn't understand a damned word Taj sang that night. Â I left feeling like it was a bad music venue. Â It made me sad, given that the is where they're booking a lot of the "cool" music in Redding these days.
Earlier this week TL took me to see Pink Martini on the eve of my birthday. Â I'd heard of them, but never heard them. Â Turns out Pink Martini is a band from Portland consisting of about a dozen or so talented and charismatic music nerds who mine incredibly rich veins of music from all over the world, and somehow turn it into this really amusing form of great lounge-lizard music....or something. Â It's kind of world/big band music in the same way that Lyle Lovett and his Large Band make country swing/big band music. Â In other words, those categorizations don't even begin to capture what's going on.
Anyway, back to the Cascade -- the sound was perfect. Â I'd have almost sworn you could hear a pin drop onstage while the band was playing -- that's how crisp and clear each instrument and voice was during the entire show. Â No sitting there thinking, "So this is what Pink Martini would sound like if I was listening from the bottom of my swimming pool..."
I'm completely cured of my former reluctance to go to Cascade shows.
It's good to have a venue that attracts some of the musical acts that I really enjoy - inside and at night. Â Parking isn't good right by the theater, but there are several large lots on the west side of the Downtown Redding Mall, about a block away along California Street. Â The lots are free and well-lit.
Review Source:I came to the Cascade Theater because a good friend has helped book my favorite band, the Los Lonely Boys in early September of this year. Â A friend and I drove up from the Bay Area and found the show well worth it as always. Â The directions from 'Chateau Super 8' were a bit confusing by MapQuest but I found it. Â It's in the small town of Redding with a few bars and restaurants on the same block. Â
The venue is beautiful. Â Especially from the front row. Â If you look up, check out the beautiful paintings on the ceiling. Â View the photos I've uploaded. Â The seats were comfortable, the lighting was great, the sound - wonderful. Â There's a bar to get wine, beer, pretzels, and other misc. snacks. Â Thanks Patti & LLB! Â It was well worth the drive
I used to work at the Cascade when it was a movie theater. Â When I was a kid, it had one HUGE screen. Â By the time I was a pre-teen, they divided the theaters into quarters. Â Since it closed, Redding finally got off their ass and remodeled the entire building. Â They did a GREAT job. Â It's very retro and because it's fairly small, I find it to be very intimate for shows/performances. Â If you haven't been to the Cascade since the remodeling, you gotta go now. Â The greatest dancer and choreographer, James Santos, is an entertainer you should not miss. Â He's in almost every show. Â Check out the website for details.
