Love this place!
First, the reviewers. Â We weren't looking to land in seat, eat within seconds and dash away. Â We came to have good food, enjoy company, laugh and share a meal.
Now, the food; Â GREAT!! -- we had Buffalo Chix Salad (well portioned, FRESH, great flavors), Garlic Chips (like a pizza except sliced into "chips" with marinara dipping sauce -- such a "hit" -- good quality cheese too) and burgers (BIG patties, fresh/toasted buns and fixings).
...and a Bloody Mary - spicy and flavorful. Â If we hadn't had the kids with us..we might've stayed longer and enjoyed another one. Â
There is a good mix of local and tourists; the restaurant is moderately noisy as it should be with relaxed families with kids enjoying their meal -- locals acknowledging each other....it's a good place and we'll certainly return when we're in the area again!
I'm surprised at the negative reviews for this place. We have been going here for years and the meals are always delicious (huge salads, yummy lasagna and specials, and cold beer) and substantial-we take leftovers home every time. They have TVs, a few arcade games to keep the youngsters busy, and a water dish outside for your doggie friends. It is a favorite of the locals and after ski folks. I love that it is walking distance form the townhouse we stay in at Carnelian Woods https://vacasarentals.co…. Not a 5-star restaurant, but a 5-star pizza joint! Took away 1 star for cleanliness, but don't let that stop you! It's difficult keeping a busy ski resort area pizza joint sparkling with diners trudging in with their ski and beach attire.
Review Source:We LOVE CB's! The food is consistent and delicious as could be. The house-made salad dressings are the best ever. Great pasta sauce, solid ingredients, salads that really fill you up! They do not skimp and use all the best ingredients. We love the meatball sub, chicken parm, and chef salad... and the Ranch! Â Good service, cozy atmosphere, definitely a local's favorite spot. Thank you CB's!
Review Source:3.5
I didn't eat here, but someone brought over one of their pizzas for a lunch meeting at the office. Â It was surprisingly good - not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. Â
The pizza was half plain cheese, half pepperoni. Â The crust is a bit doughier than I personally prefer, but I'm originally from the East Coast, so I like my crust thin and crispy, while the others thought the crust was just fine. Â Sauce was fine, nothing outstanding, but no detectable faults. Â Amount of cheese acceptable.
It'll do, pig. Â It'll do.
This place has awesome pizza and great sandwiches. Definitely my favorite place for pizza in the north shore (deep dish all the way!). The service is a little laidback, so don't expect your server to come running to your side every two seconds, but it's good enough to get the job done. CB's is great to go sit at the bar and watch a football game, drink a beer, and grab a bite.
Review Source:Good food. WORST customer service known to man. I usually order over the phone, and tonight I received the worst phone service. I was cut off consistently and spoken to like they didn't need the business, it's the off season and places like these need the business this time of year, especially from the people WHO LIVE HERE ALL YEAR LONG. After tonight, probably wont ever eat there again.
Review Source:DO NOT GO HERE--IT'S FILTHY, AND BAD FOOD, AND SERVICE! Just visit the restroom while you're there. My family spent 5 days in Tahoe, as we have done many years and love some of the restaurants--we look forward to eating at our faves. We went into CB's, even though the reviews told us not to.... we were hungry on our way back to the cabin, wanted something fast but good. As we were waiting for the poor service, my daughter and I used the restroom, and I won't go too much into that but OMG, disgusting!! If this is any inclination of what the kitchen looks like--how the heck are they open?!!! We returned to the table, where a filthy pitcher of water sat--either light brown water or a dirty pitcher, we didn't drink the water. We ordered our food, and it was not as it was described on the menu, and the salad dressing stunk so bad, I wouldn't let my daughter eat it--for fear she would get sick on our vacation. The others tried their food, and the meat smelled and the food was unedible. I spoke up to the server, making him angry and defensive, I asked for the managers number. As I awaited to pay the bill--only the liquid would I pay for, we barely ate 2 bites out of any meal, it sat on our table as we left. As I awaited my card/receipt, the "manager" walked in behind me, the server told me that was her and I could tell her my problem, I expressed that the food was disgusting and not fresh. She walked over to our food, looked at it, told me she thought it looked good and that I could just leave! That was how she would solve that--make the "problem" walk out the door so the other customers wouldn't hear me and want their money back from this nasty establishment. I have notified the Health Dept, and awaiting to hear back from them. I SUGGEST YOU DON'T EAT HERE-- YOU MAY GET SICK! AND NO ONE FROM THIS LIL HOLE IN THE WALL WILL CARE!! Â
BOTH, DISAPPOINTED AND PISSED

What can I say but this place was great! The burgers here are delicious, not Burgers & Brew quality, but really good. They serve them open faced and let you build the burger you want, not what they want you to buy. The beer was cold and the service was quick, we enjoyed every minute of or experience here and week definitely be coming back when we visit Tahoe again.
Review Source:I would have to agree with the last reviewer....we ordered a calzone. The order arrived 25 minutes later....burnt. The waitress said " I'm really sorry, it's a bit over cooked. If you don't like it, we've got another one in the oven for you". I tried to cut into it....and, whelp...it went back. The next one came out....still pretty brown. When we went to cut into it....the sausage was c-o-l-d!
I had heard this was a local favorite spot...that's why we tried it.
I definitely won't return...and, would suggest others to stay clear.
Called in an order to be picked up they said 20 mins when I showed up 30 mins later to pick up my pizza the girl at the register clearly was caught off guard and it was obvious they didnt put my order in. I paid and she said it would be a couple minutes. 10 minutes pass, then 15. I ask where my pizza is and she says it will be right out and instead of appogizing for the mistake and maybe offering me a drink while I wait she got an attitude with me. Finaly after about 30 min I see my pizza put up on the bar and the girl continues to serve other people!! When I approach the bar and ask her for my pizza she gives me a fake smile and turns to her co-worker and calls me a b***h before handing me my food!!!! I took my $40 pizza and got the hell out of there! No thanks! Will NEVER go back again.
If you want WAY better pizza and good service go to JIFFYS!!!!!
CB's Pizza is a pretty chill place. I never thought much of it till I went to watch an NFL game there. They had game night deals up that waz! My buddy and I got nachos personal pizzas, hot wings and frosty beverages for under 30 bones. Not too shabby, even if I says so myself. The pizza is good and so is the service. This place is cool to hang out at for a few hours.
Review Source:CB's Pizza has great food, but is flawed by their lackadaisical service. This place has the best pizza in the area, hands down, but also has the most unmotivated characters serving their food. Each server has their own little personality that leads to unsatisfactory service. I have to admit that this is kind of funny though.
I have eaten her many times and have to recommend the garlic chips. If you love garlic than these chips are heaven! There are many other choices on the menu besides pizza, but not getting pizza here is like going to a dog park without a dog. Get a pizza and don't hesitate, because if you do the server will take forever to come back to your table because she probably forgot about you.
I will now highlight the top three characters of CB's...
The funny in a mean way server...
This is the best service you'll get here, which is only average. This server is happy and witty, but irritated because she doesn't want to be there. She will make funny comments that may come off as being rude to some and funny to others.
The Wonder Women forgetful server...
One evening we had a party of eight and this particular server took our order without writing anything down. The first thing I thought was, this chick is a Wonder Woman server. She then comes back five minutes later to say, "Uhh, I'm really sorry, but I forgot everything you all ordered because I didn't write it down." I started busting up laughing right in front of her. This was enjoyable. We ordered garlic chips with our meal and of course she forgot them. At least we got to take home a free order of them for her mistake.
The "high as a kite" bus boy...
Can someone say entertaining! I didn't know CB's was running a circus!? This guy was walking aimlessly around the restaurant cleaning up a glass here and a plate there, but not really taking initiative to clean off an entire table. He had his hat on sideways, his eyes were half way closed the whole time, and he didn't speak at all. While we were eating I noticed him standing in the corner drinking soda straight out of a pitcher with his eyes closed. He wasn't even using a straw! These people crack me up!
If you eat here just be prepared for the long experience. I've always said that great food overcomes bad service and since the pizza here is delicious, I will keep coming back.
My whole family traveled to Tahoe this weekend to celebrate my sister and fathers birthdays. We heard that CB's pizza and grill was a great place to eat and that we could make reservations for our party of 19. We called and spoke with a man with a gruff voice. He seemed very occupied and unwilling to listen to our request. We asked to make a reservation for 19 and he said he doesn't do reservations and that we should just come and try our chances but he was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to accommodate us. I tried to ask him more info but he rudely hung up on me!!! I haven't been here but can definitely say that I never will due to their rudeness.
Review Source:The pizza is good, but they have screwed up the order too many times now that we won't be going back anymore after years of patronage.
Twice now we've taken the pizza home and it looks OK from the top and bottom, but the crust is uncooked and gooey. Â I don't recall ordering my pizza "rare".
Another time we ordered half sausage and half pepperoni and what we ended up with when we got home has "half sausage and pepperoni", and the other half plain cheese!
Also, I think the place is rather expensive, but I guess that's what you get when you're in Tahoe.
I am mystified at the multiple 4 and 5 star ratings for this place. I obviously dined at CB's on a VERY bad night.
We were staying up the road a bit in Kings Beach, and decided to check this place out in part based on the positive Yelp reviews. I was with my husband, parents and two kids, and looking for a family friendly place. It was a Saturday night (8/7/10), and a little crowded, but not too bad. We were told there was a 20 minute wait. No problem. Well, no problem if we were waiting because there were no tables available. Instead, we waited at least 20 minutes while we saw two empty tables that would have accommodated our party remain unbussed. Not because it was especially busy, but apparently because no one felt doing it.
We finally had to take matters into our own hands and say something to someone behind the bar. When we finally sat down around 8:00, we were starving. We had to wait forever for a waiter to even glance in our direction. When he arrived, we made sure to have our drink and food order ready for fear he might never return. It took 10 minutes to bring our drinks, he forgot some of them, and in the 40 MINUTES it took for us to get our food, he did not check on us once to refill our beverages or keep us apprised of the status of our meals. We had to track him down to ask about our food, and when it appeared miraculously 5 minutes later, my veggie calzone was mediocre, soggy, nothing impressive. My husband said his meatball sub was dry and just "ok". My kids seemed to enjoy their mini pizzas but weren't thrilled when they were told that the restaurant was out of milk. My folks admitted they might have enjoyed their turkey burgers more had they not been so annoyed by the time they arrived.
I worked in food service for years, so I know that any restaurant can have a bad night, but the food wasn't good enough to motivate me to try again. What is it they say - you only get one chance to make a good first impression?
I went here for lunch, and it seemed to be a real popular place because it was busy. Â The pizza was a little pricey compared to other pizza places, but there was an array of toppings and a large selection of other items, plus most of the beer was pretty cheap. Â I liked the "Family" pizza we got, but I thought that the crust was a little too hard. Â I actually thought that the pizza tasted better cold as a leftover.
Review Source:I love this place! The staff was super friendly and always checking on our table. We ordered appetizers and two of the best calzones ever! They also have lots of TV's and were quick to put on the Hockey Finals game.
Definitely going back when I'm up there next. They have also changed the decor since I was there last, they panted a polka-dot theme, and the size of the dots are the same size as the pizza options. Great idea!
We thought, what would be a great and easy way to feed 15 people than to order pizza, but when 6 pizzas came out to a total of $140, it's definitely not worth it. Â It was decent pizza, but to pay over $20 per pie, man, that's kind of hard to fork over...
We got the:
California - had avocados on it
Meat Lovers (x2) - you know whats on here
CB's Combo - aka supreme
Hawaiian - ham and pineapple - big surprise
Patty's Lasagna Pie - this was an interesting pizza choice that had a lot of potential, but it felt a little short...
Again, if the prices weren't as high, I would maybe consider it, but it's not worth paying the high prices for these pizzas.
CB's is well-hidden at the back of a strip mall, but it is worth finding. Â It is surprisingly swank on the inside despite its casual menu and atmosphere. Â We were there with a local regular, which might explain the great service we received, but great service it was! Â I had a small pizza and the rest of my party had sandwiches. Â While not the most incredible pizza I've ever had, the food was solid and worth recommending. Â A nice place for a good meal if you find yourself hungry in Carnelian Bay.
Review Source:I would recommend this for either a local or a visitor to the area looking to save money on some over-priced, over-extravagant meal. Â This is a no-frills spot most-certainly worthy of my time.
It's tucked away unassumingly next to a laundromat and Post Office in Carnelian Bay across from the docks and out of sight (and mind) of Gar Woods. There's no unnecessary decoration, sans a huge big-screen television off in the corner of the room (more-than-likely showing a sporting event). They also have a few tables out front with a good-enough view of the Lake (it's across the road), but they were all filled up outside when we went.
The menu is fantastic. It covers traditional pub fare (fried appetizers and burgers and fries - no crinkle fries, either WOO!), as well as an assortment of salads and pizzas. There is also a sandwich section, though I have to take away a star for being a little less-than vegetarian friendly. (Most of the salads and every single sandwich had meat in them. There was, however, a Garden Burger option on the menu. If you are vegan, the salads could be de-cheesed.) They also have wine and beer, and at a very reasonable price. The microbrew pints were under $4, which is UNHEARD OF in Tahoe. Pitchers ranged in price from $11-14 (also, UNHEARD OF in Tahoe).
My boyfriend is born-and-raised in Tahoe and said that he went here a lot with his family while growing up, and I have to assume it's mainly for the extensive menu and fantastic prices (when compared to other eateries in the neighborhood). It's NOT because the food is anything special. It was bar-food, but it wasn't bad by any means.
I had the Greek Salad with Italian Dressing (they didn't have a balsamic dressing!) and the boy had the Chicken Parmesan sub with fries. His fries were fresh and crispy, but a little under-salted (there's salt at the table - who cares). The sub seemed to hit the spot, but it wasn't gourmet or anything. My salad perplexed me when it came out, and it bothered me that they didn't bother to toss it themselves. They just piled all of the ingredients on a TINY plate and expected me to work with that. They also served the dressing in a capped to-go container, which seemed pretty wasteful, considering I was dining-in. I had to spoon half of my salad onto another plate and toss that together, eat that, and then do the other half because the plates were so small. The salad was wonderful, though....the right amount of every ingredient and everything was fresh. It was one of the better Greek Salads I've had.
Another bonus: they brought us frosty mugs for our bottled beer, which was an uber-nice touch.
I see us coming here a lot in the future. They had a special advertised that seemed appealing: a Tecate and a slice of pizza for $5.25. Prices like that will keep me coming back again and again....and it helps that the food doesn't suck!
We used to like this place for having good pizza and being cheap, until the following experience:
Called ahead for a take out order. Got there a few minutes before it was supposed to be ready, paid, and got some quarters for pinball. (One of the two stars is for having pinball.) The hostess (?) then comes over and says, "They made your pizza backwards" - it was supposed to be 2/3 something and 1/3 something else - "and it'll be another 25 minutes."
No "sorry", no "here's a free backwards pizza for your trouble" - what the heck did they do with the extra pizza anyway? And the final product was kind of cold, too. We won't be back.
Very easy and straight forward dinner which is what we were looking for after a disappointing and expensive dinner the previous night. Â You will not be blown away by you get good pizza in a causal pizza shop setting with a beer and fountain drinks.
The small pizza will work for 2 people if you have the (over-sized) salad to start or any other apps. We went with mediums and had plenty of extras. The wings were a good way to start the meal...tasty with a little kick.
Service was friendly and attentive. Â Solid beer selection. Â I'd go back again.
Only issue we had was finding the place since the address here on Yelp listed the wrong city...turned out to be another 15mintues away...which was a pain in the ass.
After an arduous drive from the Bay Area, stopping only for fun and relaxation along the way, we were all pretty tired and hungry by the time we planted our feet in the "cabin" we rented. Â Tradition called for pizza, but rather than suffer through awful, horrible pizza from an unnamed place (don't worry, I will remember later...), we went with CB's.
I went to pick it up, and the place is pretty cool: Â although there is not enough parking, the eccentric metal lunchbox collection around the ceiling makes for fine viewing while you wait.
We schlepped 3 larges, some salads, and some appetizers back to feed the massive group. Â The salads were OK, but the ingredients were a bit too soggy. Â The mozzarella sticks were great (have not had that in forever), and the not-on-my-diet-thanks-a-lot slice that I had (combo) was definitely pizza, and OK.
While expensive, not terrific, and not offering delivery, this was an A-OK pizza place for a random Friday night with no internet connection to find a better place on Yelp.
Drama free dinner. Â Casual pizza place. Â You get what you expect to get at this casual, prototypical pizza joint. Â Beer and wine. Â Video games including Centipede. Â
Decent pizzas. Big... plenty of left overs. A small pizza will be more than enough for 2 hearty appetites. A medium can handle 3 - 4 people. Good chicken wings with a little bit of a kick. Solid veggie salad with mushrooms, sprouts, broc, carrots, and mixed greens. Burgers are also on the menu.
Service was friendly and attentive. Â Decent selection of beers on tap or in bottles. Â
For the dude that wrote the review for CB's Pizza and listed the address in Kings Beach: Â Do your research and get the right city on your review before you contribute!
We were visiting our good friends in Reno and spent the 4th of July at Lake Tahoe. Â First stop -- CB's Pizza & Grill, where I had a yummylicious burger that I added provolone cheese and mushrooms to. Â I woulda gone for the pizza since it was recommeded but anytime I can build a burger and get provolone and sauteed mushrooms, I am sold. Â This is the only thing I eat when I'm at Red Robin by the way. Â Anyways, the restaurant itself is cute with all the lunchboxes. Â They had old school Centipede in the arcade area! Â Yumm.
Review Source:Considering there aren't too many pizza options on a snowy night in north shore, this is great pizza. I expected we'd have to settle for whatever we could get, but it's good enough that I'd go here even if I had lots of other options. The thin crust is a little better than the thick, but both are good. They lose a star for their tendency to mess up orders, so make sure they read it back to you and check it before you take it home.
Review Source:Nice folks, decent food. Â They put up with our large party carrying tons of camera equipment and laptops, trailing power cords everywhere...
Free WiFi for an hour; $5.00 charge for the day.
The food was... ok... I chose the crispy chicken caesar salad special - which turned out to be fried chicken strips draped over romaine greens that did have a nice, garlicky dressing. Â The individual-sized portions are served in a small metal colander which made it a bit messy to eat -- greens were constantly spilling over the side.
They have space outside to sit with your pup, and a water bowl which they happily refill.
I won't even lie...I only came here because we were in tahoe for the weekend and they advertised free wi-fi.
On the wi-fi end they give you a code and you only get it for an hour, after-which you're booted off.
The food was pretty killer. I had the baja burger one day and it was damn tasty. Went back the next day with a bunch of friends and they apparently liked it as well.
My burger was about $8 and my pizza was $6, so it was definitely affordable.
The waitress was very friendly with me and was good about refilling our water.
This place makes one of the BEST thin crust pizzas I've ever tried. Ever. Â As has been noted, there can be a bit of a wait and the service is spotty. But hey, grab a beer, go play some pinball and nosh on their wonderfully fried appetizers. Then, tuck in to their phenomenal BBQ chicken pizza or even their vegetarian combo. YUM.
Review Source:After a long day of skiing, CBs was a great stop for dinner. Be prepared for a wait if you go right at dinner time...you're going to have lots of company. Â It was worth the wait though because the pizza was top notch and the beer was ice cold. Â I highly recommend the Mad River Pale Ale. Â Enjoy.
