This is an amazing place. I have been here many times. I have tried most of their appetizers and by far the best are their onion rings take my advise and get a order of them you won't regret it. I have had their burger that is best in Nebraska, which I agree with it. I have also had a chipoltle chimichanga from here and it was amazing. They also have a great selection of deserts.I am 19 so I don't know about the drinks but my familu says the got a decent selection of drinks. Disregard any negative reviews about this place I am a huge foodie and eat out a lot this is and amazing place with a diverse menu. Only down side is it is a great restaurant so it is busy on Friday and weekend nights prepaid for a 20-45 minute wait if it looks busy. Don't leave wait it out this restaurant is worth the wait. You will be waited on shortly after being seated and the service is amazing. They people that work here are nice and if you are having a hard time deciding what to get ask your waitress they are extremely helpful.
Review Source:My wife, son, and I went here for dinner on our way home to Chicago from Colorado. Â We stopped in based on previous Yelp reviews and the recommendation of the front desk staff at The Holiday Inn Express. Â
I'll preface this by saying I travel, extensively, and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. Â We also eat out, a lot, and so this serves as my basis for comparison.
I ordered the garden salad to start which was iceberg lettuce, 1/4 of a tomato, and two slices of cucumber. Â But at least it was fresh.
For dinner I ordered the chicken enchiladas with their green chile sauce and they were fine, not great, not awful, fine. Â They were topped with tortilla chips which was interesting but also annoying. Â The kitchen didn't overdo the cheese on them, for which I was thankful.
My wife had the chef salad, which, again, was just iceberg lettuce, ham, bacon, turkey, eggs, the usual. Â It too, was just fine.
My son, a picky teenage eater, ordered the fried catfish which they served on, you guessed it, iceberg lettuce. Â Claiming that the lettuce flavor had infused the fried fish, he refused to eat more than a couple of bites. Â I tasted it and it was quite peppery.
Beer list was absolutely nothing to write home about. Â The most exotic beer was a Sam Adams seasonal.
Wine selection was nonexistent.
All in all, it was what I expected: Â Decent food at a decent price in the middle of nowhere. Â Next time we drive through Kearney, we'll eat somewhere else.
This is a real "sleeper"!! Â Hard to find but worth looking for. Â We have eaten lunch and dinner here and had a variety of different foods.....never been disappointed. Â Sometimes it's crowded but well worth the wait. Â The bar pours a good drink and the staff is very friendly. Â The atmosphere is just right. Â GO HERE if you are in Kearney, NE.
Review Source:Overall, one of my favorite places in Kearney. It's American (and some Mexican food), but it's good quality food. Usually on Fridays and the weekends it's beyond packed, especially in the evening but it's usually worth the wait. I'd rather wait an hour here than get right in at most other places in Kearney.
Review Source:Can't imagine that there's a better place to eat in Kearney.
We were seated immediately for lunch on a Monday, at a trendy table with these comfortable rolling chairs. Â I was a little disappointed to find out that literally the only thing on the menu without meat was a garden salad... but I could get into the idea of the create-your-own combo, with the chili and the half-grilled cheese. Â Both were amazing, and the portions were gargantuan, for about $8. Â The grilled cheese was garlicky and buttery, and the chili was packed with quality beef and hearty beans-- topped with a load of cheddar cheese and some jalapenos. Â There was just the right amount of heat, and it filled me up easily until dinner.
My mom got the western burger, their award-winning burger, and said it completely deserved the title of best burger in Nebraska-- but really raved about the barbecue sauce.
Our poor waitress had her hands full, but some of the other servers stepped in to help her with our table, each introducing herself and each so attentive and friendly. Â A refreshingly great experience after our beyond-disappointing lunch yesterday in Iowa!
Like most establishments in Kearney, this place can go from awesome to awful in the span of a couple days.
The Ribeye here is a 16oz monster and is usually prepared to within 10 degrees of where you ask for it.
I had the western burger the last time I was in (this was evidently voted the best burger in central nebraska or something), and I was very impressed, perfectly medium rare, juicy, and very filling.
If you're not into burgers and steaks I wouldn't recommend this place, my wife has tried just about everything else and with the exception of the Jalapeno Popper Dip (which she loves) she has yet to be satisfied. Â
I got a bloody mary here once, which they also claim to be famous, and it tasted like lighter fluid with pepper in it...so give it a try if you like strong cocktails, but be warned.
I usually eat here when I am working in Kearney. Â Was there working last week and stopped for a quick lunch.
I had the Western Burger and it was very good.  I only order cheeseburgers when I know they are hand-made, fresh.  Not a fan of the hockey puck style patty that  somehow has an expiration date of 60 years from now as long as kept cool. Â
The Cellar cheeseburger was great. Â Can't give my typical Jack-n-Coke review as I was working. Â
The environment and service was great too. Â Last thing...their ranch dressing is awesome for fry dipping.
I'm not going to dock it a star for not being open on Sundays, which only kind of sucks when you have friends come into town and one of the cooler places isn't even open. Â It's not bad, but it's not amazing either; nothing to write home about.
The atmosphere is great and it is a nice place to take a date.
Dinner at the bar after rolling into Kearney in the early evening, good people watching, great beer (they brought me a pint without being asked :), and good onion rings (I think it was the dip). Â Affable bartender and lots of locals, especially UNK student athletes, and a visiting girls' team (volleyball or basketball, I'm not sure) filled the place early. Â My tortilla soup and burger were good, too. Â I'll come back on my next roadtrip to Kearney.
Review Source:Hidden away in an unassuming location (yes, Kearney has some of those too), I have fond memories of this place because growing up this was the only place to get something that in my mind resembled a Starbucks beverage. (Which was a Cappucino from their machine, poured over ice. Â How young and naive I was back then.)
Aside, though, good music, great bar food and even a few creative non-standard entrees like the charbroiled salmon chef salad (which sadly got discontinued.) Â But their fried cheese balls with ranch dressing = oh yeah.
