This pub used to be my main go-to spot more than five years ago. It has different personalities for the different times of the day. I have been there during a week day for what is normally a happy hour, and all the locals are sitting around watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy."
If I hadn't just been served a beer, I would have walked out after being "Sushed" by the regulars, and the bartender asked us to wait for commercials to talk so everyone could hear the TV. If you are a lame alcoholic who likes Jeopardy that much, buy a fifth and a six pack and watch it by yourself so others can have a good time after work.
On other nights, all of the frats are hanging out there in force. Loud, obnoxious and profane, I was witness to three people crammed into the men's room to relieve themselves. One in the toilet, one in the urinal, one in the sink.
It is hard to find a comfortable medium in this bar. Somewhere between the ancient alcoholics and the drunken frat boys I am sure this delicate balance does exist, if not for just a fleeting moment. Cheap beer and a back patio are a definite plus, just don't expect to stay long before the crowd changes character. Oh, and gentlemen, wash your hands in the sink at your own risk.
Adorable! I went here after an event at Monmouth College with a bunch of old people. It was $17.50 for three beers and a mixed drink. I have no idea how that happened, but it was glorious. It was pretty small but I bullied my way up to the bar (I was with my grandma, come on, gotta let her sit). We also had the onion rings and potato chips which were soooo good. Or maybe I was starving and at a bar at 11pm but who cares! The potato chips were more like fry discs like the other person said but it was super nice. They were also playing Irish music and it looked like they had a big patio. If I didn't live 6 hours away, I'd go back!
Review Source:I was here for an event last spring. Â This place is rollicking! Â I have heard they have great burgers but I was just there for the drinks. Â They pour a great pint but my southern sensibilities were shaken when they didn't have Wild Turkey.
Big crowd there on a Saturday night. Â It was hard to move around. Â A cover band was playing... covers. (I don't think they have Irish music), Â I met a lot of guys named JoeeeY. Â
Great fun.
