I came here for dinner on July 4 with some friends. This wasn't our first choice of places to go, but the taco shop down the street had closed, so the Draft House looked like a good alternative. They have a great selection of beers, and it was nice that our waiter let me sample my beer before ordering a glass because I find a lot of darker beers hit or miss. The beer was great.
I like that they have a small outdoor seating area because it was a perfect night to sit outside. Our waiter was friendly, although the service was pretty slow. It may have been because it was a holiday (although not many people were there) or maybe because the waiter was deathly afraid of the golden retriever-poodle mix dog that the couple at the table next to us had...it was the sweetest dog but he would avoid it by several feet when he was coming to check on us and them haha. I was kind of annoyed with him, though, when I asked if the mac and cheese was a good sized dinner portion and it came out in a half filled small bowl. I just snacked off my friends' plates, but I would recommend that you order the mac and cheese as a side if you come hungry. Or maybe don't order it at all because it was just ok.
Overall, this was a great place for good beer, but I'll probably be skipping the food next time.
Ugh, this place sucks. Â Me and my girl came here one day to watch a game. Â The place was empty and we took a seat at the bar. Â At least three different bartenders were behind the bar at any given time and not a single one managed to acknowledge us or ask us if we needed a drink or to see a menu. Â After about 15 minutes of patiently waiting to get some kind of service, we just up and left, again, without recognition from anyone. Â I would say I was disappointed, but I'm really not surprised enough to be. Â If you want to watch a game, hit up Jack's down the street.
Review Source:Ok, so typically I would never say not to go to a place, but I am going to say that because I personally would not return, you should not either. Anyway, went to the draft house with a friend from out of town, in fact from a few hours away, so his visit led me to take us out for some drinks.
I have never been to the draft house for food, only for drinks after dinner hours. About a week ago, on a Friday night, I decided to take my friend out to the West End area for some drinks. We get there and decide that the Draft House was more our scene that night (it was slower than the rest of the bars, music wasn't as loud) we wanted to sit and chat so we thought it would be a good place to go.
Upon entering we notice that the bar is pretty empty, small crowd, nothing crazy. we found seats at the bar and this is where the bad review begins. Had I known how terrible this one bartender would be, my friend and I would have made our way to the other side of the bar. Anyway, this bartender was the worst bartender I have had in a LONG time. There were three bartenders there this night, two females, one brunette and the other a blonde, and a male bartender as well who seemed like he was not working at all, just chatting away. So unfortunately we were stuck with this blond bartender who should seriously lose her job. A monkey, not trained, could do her job and most likely better.
So this bartender from the start didn't want to serve us. Why? I have no damn idea. We had to flag her down. FLAG HER DOWN. Why should I have to flag down the bartender when the side of the bar we were sitting on was EMPTY. besides one other couple at one corner, she was doing absolutely nothing. So we order two drafts and lets start with the fact that she didn't say hello, she didn't smile, she didn't ask us anything, offer anything, SHE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE EYE CONTACT. now that is what bothers me the most. I'm giving you money from MY wallet, and you don't even look to acknowledge my presence. Wow, i was floored.
Receiving the beers was another story. My glass was dirty, it was dripping red stuff all along the side, and when I point it out to her that I was put off by the dirty glass, she says to me "it's not dirty. it's probably grenadine from my fingers" PROBABLY? I don't care what it is, i told her my glass was dirty. After drinking our beers, we try to flag her down again, yet for some reason as she passes and we have our hand out to make her see us, she walks right past.
Our glasses sit empty on the bar counter for a good 15 minutes before I stand up over the bar lean over and make her see me. I at this point ask her for a beer menu. You know since it's a draft house I'm sure there's some good beer. She finally makes eye contact, the one and only time, and its the look of disgust. for asking for a beer menu?? what is wrong with this woman, my friend and I could not believe how awful she was. she grabs a menu and throws it down on the bar. and leaves. AGAIN. where did she go? ordering the next round took yet another 10 minutes. we finished up the beers as soon as we could and we left.
This bartender was terrible. I was not only embarrassed for bringing my friend there, but I was embarrassed for the town of LB. I live in town, draft house, show the locals some respect. Wish I didn't leave her an undeserved tip.
only pro: decent beer selection for the area, but i would rather just pick up a six pack at the liquor store.
