I came here for dinner on July 4 with some friends. This wasn't our first choice of places to go, but the taco shop down the street had closed, so the Draft House looked like a good alternative. They have a great selection of beers, and it was nice that our waiter let me sample my beer before ordering a glass because I find a lot of darker beers hit or miss. The beer was great.
I like that they have a small outdoor seating area because it was a perfect night to sit outside. Our waiter was friendly, although the service was pretty slow. It may have been because it was a holiday (although not many people were there) or maybe because the waiter was deathly afraid of the golden retriever-poodle mix dog that the couple at the table next to us had...it was the sweetest dog but he would avoid it by several feet when he was coming to check on us and them haha. I was kind of annoyed with him, though, when I asked if the mac and cheese was a good sized dinner portion and it came out in a half filled small bowl. I just snacked off my friends' plates, but I would recommend that you order the mac and cheese as a side if you come hungry. Or maybe don't order it at all because it was just ok.
Overall, this was a great place for good beer, but I'll probably be skipping the food next time.
Ugh, this place sucks. Â Me and my girl came here one day to watch a game. Â The place was empty and we took a seat at the bar. Â At least three different bartenders were behind the bar at any given time and not a single one managed to acknowledge us or ask us if we needed a drink or to see a menu. Â After about 15 minutes of patiently waiting to get some kind of service, we just up and left, again, without recognition from anyone. Â I would say I was disappointed, but I'm really not surprised enough to be. Â If you want to watch a game, hit up Jack's down the street.
Review Source:Ok, so typically I would never say not to go to a place, but I am going to say that because I personally would not return, you should not either. Anyway, went to the draft house with a friend from out of town, in fact from a few hours away, so his visit led me to take us out for some drinks.
I have never been to the draft house for food, only for drinks after dinner hours. About a week ago, on a Friday night, I decided to take my friend out to the West End area for some drinks. We get there and decide that the Draft House was more our scene that night (it was slower than the rest of the bars, music wasn't as loud) we wanted to sit and chat so we thought it would be a good place to go.
Upon entering we notice that the bar is pretty empty, small crowd, nothing crazy. we found seats at the bar and this is where the bad review begins. Had I known how terrible this one bartender would be, my friend and I would have made our way to the other side of the bar. Anyway, this bartender was the worst bartender I have had in a LONG time. There were three bartenders there this night, two females, one brunette and the other a blonde, and a male bartender as well who seemed like he was not working at all, just chatting away. So unfortunately we were stuck with this blond bartender who should seriously lose her job. A monkey, not trained, could do her job and most likely better.
So this bartender from the start didn't want to serve us. Why? I have no damn idea. We had to flag her down. FLAG HER DOWN. Why should I have to flag down the bartender when the side of the bar we were sitting on was EMPTY. besides one other couple at one corner, she was doing absolutely nothing. So we order two drafts and lets start with the fact that she didn't say hello, she didn't smile, she didn't ask us anything, offer anything, SHE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE EYE CONTACT. now that is what bothers me the most. I'm giving you money from MY wallet, and you don't even look to acknowledge my presence. Wow, i was floored.
Receiving the beers was another story. My glass was dirty, it was dripping red stuff all along the side, and when I point it out to her that I was put off by the dirty glass, she says to me "it's not dirty. it's probably grenadine from my fingers" PROBABLY? I don't care what it is, i told her my glass was dirty. After drinking our beers, we try to flag her down again, yet for some reason as she passes and we have our hand out to make her see us, she walks right past.
Our glasses sit empty on the bar counter for a good 15 minutes before I stand up over the bar lean over and make her see me. I at this point ask her for a beer menu. You know since it's a draft house I'm sure there's some good beer. She finally makes eye contact, the one and only time, and its the look of disgust. for asking for a beer menu?? what is wrong with this woman, my friend and I could not believe how awful she was. she grabs a menu and throws it down on the bar. and leaves. AGAIN. where did she go? ordering the next round took yet another 10 minutes. we finished up the beers as soon as we could and we left.
This bartender was terrible. I was not only embarrassed for bringing my friend there, but I was embarrassed for the town of LB. I live in town, draft house, show the locals some respect. Wish I didn't leave her an undeserved tip.
only pro: decent beer selection for the area, but i would rather just pick up a six pack at the liquor store.
I wish i had a picture of my food to post here...however after 2 + hours we didnt receive our food. Â Some how they still continued to feed everyone else that ordered after us even tho they knew how long we were waiting for...unless u have all day to waste dont waste ur time!!! They dont even deserve one star from me!!!
Review Source:Not gonna hate...they had $4 vodka drinks the night we drove down here to see DJ Licious.
Had no idea where people were gonna bug out to a DJ though based on the floor schematics...
Oh yeah, we didn't stick around to find out or anything.
She never came on during the 4 hours we were there.
I would not drive the 40 minutes we did to get here, but if you live nearby and like to drink...I don't think it'd hurt.
Would be an okay sports bar. Went on a Saturday night to go see Big Ang. Drink prices aren't too bad, but they're inconsistent. Skyy vodka mixed drinks were $5 specials. Ordered a round of 5 mixed vodka drinks and the bartender tells me it's $30. I told her I thought there was a vodka special and then I was informed I had to *specify* Skyy vodka (they use cheap vodka for the drinks anyway). Later on I decide to close that tab and it was $32.10?!
They play good music at least...
This bar has come a long way, but it still has some work to do. The crowd is full of pretty-boys with waxed eyebrows and tribal tattoos who look like they are trying out for a reality TV show, while the women seem to be out "on the stroll" wearing little more than would be required to maintain legal compliance.
It is a sports bar, but when we went there to have some beers and watch a non-local game, after the first quarter (Sunday night) Â the sound was suddenly muted so that a DJ could start blasting dance music to a crowd of...maybe 25 people in the bar (none of whom was dancing). I left immediately so I could enjoy the game elsewhere without the sounds of a cheap, grody basement night club piercing my eardrums.
I have been back here for events thrown by other people, and while the crowd was the same, the service was average. It took time to get drinks, but their large selection of taps attached to kegs of delicious micro brew kept me drinking.
Overall, not a bad place to spend an evening, but not my first choice. A sports bar? Maybe, but it caters more to a different crowd than mine.
christ not another one!!!!!!!!
another bar with the same ole djs playing the same ole top 40 and dance mash ups. fist pump heaven. Â maybe when djais opens some of this crowd will go there but the management definitely appears to have a vision-if you like fist pumping this is your place.
A littler more upscale than Jacks down the street. It is close to Monmouth University so you get a good amount of college girls in there. Considering the place is called The "Draft" House you would expect them to have more beers on tap. Their selection is OK.
My one complaint- it is expensive. I walked in around 9:00 on a Friday and asked the bar tender what was on special. He said nothing.... I stood there for a moment in disbelief. This is a bar in Long Branch and it is winter time. Not good for college students. The bar tab for 4 of us was around $300. We were not even hammered and ended up going somewhere else for half the night. I recommend drinking at Jacks or Celtic Cottage and going to Draft house late night, maybe.
We've always had fun here. It always ends up being a very, very hazy night. There are however a lot of really creepy dudes. Like, older dudes who try to pick up young girls by telling them they work for the NFL and Fox Sports. Yeah, I know who you are you wacko.
We also went here for Halloween, which was fun. There's always a lot of Monmouth kids and the DJ is pretty solid. It's also right near the Inkwell, so after the bar closes you can grab some really yummy food to soak up some of the impending-hangover.
They also gave me my camera back when I left it there, so, points for that too!
I don't even know where to start with this new bar in Long Branch. Being open minded and a regular in many local bars from New York to Long Branch, I figured I'd give it a shot.
The environment is sterile at best. The main bar contains an odd sort of cubicle in the middle that can only be equated to a mall kiosk, where the bartenders seemingly go to eat mid-shift? TVs line the walls at the same volume one would expect for live music to be. In regard to the volume, the management also seems unaware that commercials are at least 10% louder than the games they were blasting, making it nearly impossible to hear your company or the bartender, and caused me to chug my beer and immediately leave.
The crowd mostly fell into two categories-people who appeared to have come off the show Jersey Shore, and creepy, older men who uncomfortably stare down and talk to women, who dare enter, as if they're a steak.
Though I know the crowd is not necessarily the fault of the establishment, I do think that having their bartenders openly drink behind the bar, and do shots with customers instead of waiting on others, is not only unprofessional (especially for a new bar) but generally completely tacky.
Kudos to anyone who has had a different, positive experience.
