My dad lives in the fourth and gill neighborhood so we regularly haunt flats and taps. It's a great place to watch a game or just hang out. The food from flats to wings is spectacular. I eat the wings regularly because they are gluten free which is sometimes hard to find. Get the BBQ Sirracha sauce and the Cajun spice together on the same wing. Delicious. (Thanks Ryan!) If you are in the area and need a good place to go by and grab a bite or a beer this is a great stop! They have a great back porch as well (pet friendly). Always friendly and good service! A must do in Knoxville!
Review Source:We have eaten dinner and lunch here many times. Service is good and food is fresh and very tasty! My recommendations are the hummus to start then if I'm in the mood for panini I go for the east of Cali and my favorite flat is the Italian ( hope this one makes it to the regular menu) I work 10- 15 minutes away and still have time to go for lunch. The kitchen is on top of it. Nice open patio if you prefer to dine outside. Music is a little loud so sometimes hard to have conversation but again the patio is cool. At first glance you would think this place is a run of the mill tavern. Please don't eat before you go. Â You will miss out if you make this your after dinner drinking hole!
Review Source:I like this place. I've visted twice and there is potential that I would like it even more over time.
Central Flats and Taps is located in North Knoxville, where I currently live. It is a wonderful addition to that part of town, right next to my favorite place ever- The Three Rivers Market.
Nice open restaurant/pub. You walk in and pretty much sit wherever you like. I love their large pub style family style tables. Service has been really good both times. They have a nice selection of wine and cocktails. I've heard their beer selection is good too but I know nothing about beer. The TV isn't loud and overbearing, same thing with the music. Very nice place to hang out, chat with your friends and relax.
I had the black bean hummus both times and I thought it was really good. I really enjoyed the pita bread that came with it. My first mojito was perfect although the one I had during my second visit seemed very watered down. They also have vegetarian meals that sounded great. I will have to go back and try those.
Overall, CFT seems like a really nice place to hang out. I think they are open until 2 AM and the kitchen is open until at least 10. They also have late night snacks. Good food, warm comfy environment and great service. Sounds like a recipe for success!
